Rated 5 out of 5 by from From dark brown to blonde I have used this 3 times now. Once to go from dark brown to blonde (I had a dark brown dye on naturally dark brown hair) and twice for root growth. I used 30 volume developer only because 40 scares me. The results are unbelievable.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love it! Went to Sally's to get my normal Wella products and just happened to see this stuff. I figured I'd try it out and I love it. My hair is the blonde that I was going for. No toning besides a purple mask. I've always had trouble getting all of the orange tones out of my roots and I didn't have that problem this time! This stuff is amazing!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Didn’t Work For Me This was recommended to me in my local store. I am consistently mixing colors and being creative with multi dimensional high lites with my red. Unfortunately, this product did nothing at all on my hair. I bought it on sale so I tried using different levels of developer up to 40 (even though that’s not recommended) and still nothing! I love L’Oreal normally but I would not recommend this.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome colour- be patience first few washes I picked up colour 11.2 as I was looking for a colour to help blend greys and fade some darker root regrowth. I was very skeptical when I rinsed the colour out after 60 minutes- I know I left it one a little longer- normally I have stubborn brassiness at my roots. But when I rinsed I had white ends and grey- blue hue to the rest of my head. After 4 shampoos I have come to love the result. The grey-blue is gone and the tips look like highlights. I’m not sure what to do when root growth appears, hoping to maintain this look going forward!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Platinum blends awesomely with gray! Purchased this in-store after consulting with an employee regarding my ongoing search for a DIY coloring process. Like others here who have become disillusioned with salon hassles with less than desireable results, I wanted something better! My 65 year old dark blonde graying head needed LESS chemical product, not MORE. I wanted a more natural blending of the gray instead of fighting to change it. I’ve never used hair spray ;-) I’ve just used Beach Baby Lights with Ion sensitive scalp Developer 20 vol. for the third time since February, and have found it to be so much gentler on my hair than any salon processes I’ve received over the past 35 years. ***I would strongly suggest using your bathroom ceiling fan along with a secondary small floor fan for adequate ventilation while using this in a regular sized bathroom. After sectioning and clipping my hair, I use a 2- inch high quality paintbrush to apply the mixed product to the root area, slightly overlapping, which takes me about 15 minutes to complete. I start in the back and finish on the sides of the front. Then I set the timer for 20 minutes. Wash! I’ve not needed to use any conditioner for a couple months after shampooing with one of three types of sulfate-free shampoos, and can finger-comb my hair, wrap it in a towel and proceed with my skincare regimen. It’s been quite liberating! SUGGESTION: Remember to consider the hardness and mineral content of your water when evaluating your color results. Reports of very high iron content in municipal water supplies (that exceeds standards by multiples ) will cause red tones in your hair and leave your skin & scalp irritated. It’s fairly simple to have your water tested. No hair color will fix your water problem . BUT: You can counterbalance those effects with the Ion Hard Water Treatment Pack about once a month. Ion also has a hard water shampoo and conditioner, but I have not personally used those.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent color!!! I just used the cool blonde. My natural color is a level 7, dark blonde. I left this on for 50 mins. Results were gorgeous. I always pull gold so I'm extremely happy w no gold this time. I'm not sure how it would work on hair darker than dark blonde. Being a Cosmetologist, I would recommend bleach on darker hair or go to the salon for more professional results. Love the new product. ❤

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product Great Savings! I was spending over $200 at the salon every six weeks alternating Full highlights with partial highlights. Not to mention hours in the chair and a hefty tip. I was VERY apprehensive to try this but I am glad I did. Looks great! Convenient no apmnt neccessary. So now I put that $ in my sons college 529 account instead. It costs me about $8 to do this. Wish I had tried it sooner.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Impossible Expectations To anyone already here with a complaint or anyone coming here to look at reviews, please understand that this product is a 5 shade lift on MEDIUM hair at very best. The less darkness it has to eat through, the better. No one can realistically expect to go from BLACK to Platinum in one sitting at HOME. Please also keep in mind that the more dye your hair has in it from previous chemical alterations, the more likely it is you won't get lifted to blond. This product is effective when use properly and under the acceptable circumstances(i.e virgin hair, previously dyed, but medium to light color hair) If you are looking for dramatic lift, invest money in a salon, they will get you to your hair destination and will be able to do so without making your hair fall out. If you have naturally dark or dyed dark hair, going blond with this IS far fetched. Be realistic. This is not labelled "For dark hair only" Like the loreal hi-lift for red shades. It is not made to work miracles on dark hair. If you were gullible enough to try this expecting a blond out of it, I'm sorry. Start researching, people. You're better off just buying bleach and lifting slowly with a 20 or 30 until you reach desired level, then tone.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from High lift tint Just like any high lift tint, double 40 vol. Need bleach

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not Desired Results For one the dye doesn’t come with a recommended time for leaving the product in. It did not turn my hair blonde, it turned it brown. I am really upset because I have to wait to go over it with the copper color I usually use to reduce damage and product build up. I should have listened to the bad reviews for this product...

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Almost perfect! I use this to touch up my roots. Perfect lift and doesn’t turn out brassy at all. I use with a 40 developer in a brand that claims its gentle on the scalp. No burning or irritation at all. It is drying however, like all haircolor, especially since it is to be used with a high lift developer. Highly recommended

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not exactly what I wanted So I used this color according to directions. Left it on the entire 50 minutes and I saw very little color change. I am still on the search for a great at home highlighting product.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from This product is garbage I followed the instructions exactly and it did absolutely NOTHING to virgin hair. I have dirty blond hair which this should of had no problem with. Zero lift.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Saved my hair! I've been trying to achieve a balayage without using bleach & was able to do it with this! I used half a tube with 40 developer & it lifted my light brown ends to a dirty blonde, I also use wella toner in t18. I used this a second time & it lightened it even more! It didn't damage my hair! After another round my hair should be the color I want! This is my new favorite! Thank you loreal for not letting me down!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect lift and blonde I was spending a small fortune getting my hair highlited to blend my grey. Thought I would try this in Natural Blonde and Beige Blonde. Used the suggested 40 volume developer, and Absolute perfect results. Some of my hair was dark brown my natural color because of my highlights. This lifted all of my hair wonderfully. I will continue to use this instead of spending so much at the salon. Great savings and did not damage my hair.

Which is the lightest blonde?  The champagne or natural blonde?

Asked by: Melinda247
11.12 platinum.  Reference the color guide and your color chart for correction.  The brand, and their universal shade guide key, level of lift you are at and count up five for the desired level of blond color.  Use scalp protector, absolute perfection, protein filler and after care to restore PH and protect color.  Add a cap of violet base drab to 1:2 mix, you can always add a few drops more to shampoo if you need more after you’ve treated.  These shades only lift five levels. Remember to strand test and time.  Check your products before use.

What volume developer would you use with this dye

Asked by: MissMissy55
The label/direction says 40vol, but I think it's totally up to you depending on where your current hair level is. The label says it can lift up to 5 levels. So if your current hair is a level 4 and you want to achieve a level 8-9, use a 40 vol. If you want a few shades lighter than a level 4, use a lower vol developer (20 or 30) and keep an eye on your hair as it processes. If your current hair level is 1 or 2, I don't recommend this product. It won't lift you to blonde so just stick to bleach/lightener.

My hair is currently colored with L'Oreal 5.1 med. ash brown. I want to go back to being blonde with just streaks of low lights. What is the lightest blonde color in this line? Will it lift enough without turning orange, gold or brassy?

Asked by: Marywe62
It will turn brassy,I definitely would suggest you have it done professionally the first time.

Does the beach baby blonde lift for 40 mins before toning and can I use foil with the mixed color?

Asked by: Anonymous
Yes 40 minutes processing at the most.  It shouldn't be necessary to tone. Typically you tone after you have bleached the hair and the results are undesirable.  I "believe" you can use foil with the mixed colour but only on the virgin hair as hair colour does not highlight processed hair only bleach can cut through processed hair and or going darker. I am not listened only experienced.  Go to you tube and start learning!!!

which one is lighter?

Asked by: A3691236
I use Champagne Blonde 11.2, however Cool Blonde is their lightest shade 11.01. This will only lift 5 shades using 40 Volume. My result still has a gold tone at the roots. I have since added Beach Baby High Lift Lightner (or any high Lift Lightner powder) to the bowl with the 40 volume and the Beach Baby color. Final result a very nice Champaign Blonde with no gold or red.

Can I add hair bleach to this color if it doesn’t lighten enough?

Asked by: Beth Stan
The only developer I have used with this product from L'Oreal is 40 volume Oreor Creme and this is equal to bleach level. Then follow the ratio of color to developer as it is different than other ratios for coloring. I love this product and the color is awesome. I hope this helps
