Rated 4 out of 5 by from Chroma True Reds Ruby color Hair. Dye I bought the Chroma True Reds Ruby color. When appling it was a dirty pink color and after washing product out, the color became very (almost brownish) dark with inside lighting but very pretty out in the sun. Wish that was the inside color as well.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Fades quickley The color is beautiful but did not last. It is fading so fast. half of my hair is natural, the other half is bleached. I just colored my hair with this product maybe 3 weeks ago and bleached areas are already a very faint red color. :( I have enough to try again. I will give it a second go at it and report back.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Sangria on Dark Brown Hair I used a 30 developer and left in for 30 minutes or so... It worked well! Not as "Rihanna Red" as I would have liked but I was pleased with the outcome. The color bled for about 8 washes. It is now a warm brown-ish color.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Get Compliments and Attention with this color! People compliment me all the time on my hair color and ask who my stylist is. They cannot believe I do it myself. It is a lil difficult to squeeze out of the tube, but I prefer cream over liquid. It rinses well and lasts long.

Can you use another brand of developer with this or do you have to use the suggested Oreor developer?

Asked by: jla122588
Any brand of developer will work. I’ve used a couple different developers with chroma and they all worked.

Will this go over permanent blue dye, I've been fading the blue, so now most of my hair is green, blue, and blonde?

Asked by: kaywaterbear
I’m not sure you could possibly strip it the rest of the way out. The most it would do is be more purpley red. i mix this red with a little red brown to give me a richer auburn.  I love this color I’m always getting compliments so I guess it fits me.

Will this work on dyed black hair?

Asked by: Jrs82000
Try the HiColor Hilights for dark hair by L'Oreal. I love the Magenta. It can lift really dark hair. I used it the other day on a client that had colored her own hair multiple times, it was dark brown to black on mid lengths to ends. I used 30 volume and 40 volume and got excellent results.

Which color is best to get a dark red. That may only show up when you’re in the sun? I’ve tried Sangria, Ruby, Cheyenne. But looking to go the darkest red from this collection.

Asked by: Nebbs016
Most color companies use a level chart that is fairly widely used, with 1 being the darkest and 10 being the lightest level. That said, from this line the darkest would be cherry (lvl 3) or garnet (lvl 4). I'm a fan of the garnet, myself, and sangria. Happy coloring!

How do you put it in your hair just that one bottle doesn’t have anything else to mix it with ? Been trying to do a flame red for my hair never used it before

Asked by: Amanda114
You need to add 30 or 40 volume developer. If you have long hair you may need two tubes, mine is just past my shoulders and it takes about a tube and a half. Mix an equal amount of developer with the color so if tube is 1.74 oz you use the same amount (roughly) of developer. Make sure you wear gloves.

can it be applied over purple splat hair dye?

Asked by: tacobella
i think it depends on the color you put over and how faded your purple is. i use this product in BLOOD ORANGE to touch up roots (and i leave it on WAY longer than instructions) and i love it. just goes through the ends to brighten. both this and splat are temporary so why not? my motto is "i can always cut it off if i don't like it".

How long does it last till it starts fading away?

Asked by: Alondra2
It takes me 5 washes (5 weeks) before it begins to fade but it doesnt ever fully wash out it is permanent but I didn't use special shampoos to protect color either, which would help. It turns into a medium brown red similar to sienna crayon color but more brassy, like light soft copper.

i would like for my hair to come out close to looking burgundy which red would be closest and my hair is colored right now brown at my roots and green on lower half of hair . what developer should i use ?

Asked by: rache4710
Sangria. It is cool tone burgundy. I’d use 20 volume.. if your roots are extremely dark, use 30 volume.  It is also a 1.1 solution. 1.74 ounces of color and 1.74 ounces of developer.  I used Sangria on Platinum Blonde hair using 10 volume and red filler. I. Would suggest the RED filler as a must use product during coloring.

I used the chrome red my roots are dark but I want to make my hair even what Developer would u use

Asked by: rahiem123
I use the 40 developer and leave it on my roots for about 10 min before I do the rest. I never really have any problems. Your roots should naturally be a bit darker than the rest of your hair though, even if you aren't dying.

Can I dye my whole head at once with Chroma or do I have to do my roots last like you do with Loreal excellence hicolor?

Asked by: Lala_703
If u have short to medium length hair you can do your entire head, but for longer than shoulder head you will need 1 1/2 to 2 bottles. At all times I strongly advise to start with your roots.

what type of developer is used with this and what is the ratio?

Asked by: mommav04
The developer used would depend on the color, texture, and shape your hair is in at the present moment. The following are generalities not knowing the condition of your hair: With blonde hair, I would use 10 volume developer. With light brown, I would use 10-20 volume. With medium brown hair, I would use 30 volume. With dark brown hair/black, I would 40 volume. Be careful with 30 and 40 volume developers. Because they are stronger, they are also harsher on the hair and can cause damage over time. As for the ratio, this is my personal preference and it works for me: Per box (almost 2 ounces) of color, I mix in 1 1/2 to 2 ounces of developer. This works on my thick hair and spreads out the color more evenly.

Will this dye your hair even if your hair isnt bleached? Or do you have to have your hair bleached?

Asked by: SammyKat2017
Yes, it will work on unbleached hair. You must keep in mind that if your hair is lighter (blonde to light brown) the red will take better than it would on someone who has darker hair (medium brown to dark brown/black). If your hair is lighter the developer you use should be one of lesser strength (10-20 volume). If your hair is darker, you should use a developer that is stronger (30-40 volume).

I just did my hair these two colors and it turned out red when i first  dyed it but normal day light it is a redish 'brown'. Used a 30 developer and a red filler along with a shine/gloss additive. Not really a vibrant red I was looking for but it turned out okay. I usually am more of a vibrant vivid red. These two mixed are good for a subtle red color.
