Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice product, poor color I ordered Black Cherry but the color is more Milk Chocolate Cherry. Was a bit disappointed. Not black at all. But the product itself is excellent. I did not realize I ordered the gel so it threw me off when I opened it but I really like it and it covered very well. Just not happy with the final result not being dark enough.

I have a blonde color hair used from my beautician. She uses a level 8 and 9 mixed together. I am 58 years old and very gray without color. My natural color is a dark brown. What should I use to color my hair with a wella color. my color now is blonde

Asked by: LDYDIIII
Hello I am a professional. Don’t use ash because you already have a grey base color and using ash will just add more grey, to cancel gray you will have to use a Warm. So you can Use 8NG.

Which of the permanent color solutions will give the most coverage on white hair? Are the products complete? I am looking at a 6N blond hoping that it will not be ashy as it will be used to cover white roots and over processed hair otherwise.

Asked by: roberta123
I use 6N Color Charm gel to cover white roots and it works very well. You need it mix it 2 to one with 20 Cream developer. That’s one part gel to 2 parts developer. Leave on roots 30 to 40 minutes.

Hi - what ratio of color to developer do you recommend? and do you measure by volume or weight? thanks

Asked by: ejohnson33
I measure by volume: 2 oz of developer equals 1/4 cup. Fortunately this product is quite forgiving. You don't have to be painfully precise.

For the 1N hair color (Black) I should use a 10 volume developer over my bleached hair correct?

Asked by: ginab127
Yes but you may want to apply possibly a lighter shade or 2 (depending on how dark you are wanting) directly to your hair first as a color filler so will not turn out blotchy!

I have 9N/911colorcharm permanent gel haircolor and demi-permanent activating lotion. Can I use these products together, or do I need "developer?" What is the difference between them?

Asked by: gummyroney38
Hi there.  You need the 20 volume developer to “lift” or open up the cuticle to accept the color. 10 vol basically is a deposit only.... it won’t open up the cuticle of hair shaft to accept color.

Which color is better to cover growth my hair is medium brown with gray, I have highlights(honey)

Asked by: Carminbaez
If you want to go with medium brown you have options. 7 G will give you a deep medium brown with gold (warm) tones. 7 N will give you rich medium tone with natural or no sheen. 7 NG will be the safest bet because it will give you a safe tone of medium deep without too much of any color beaming through. If you are just starting to color your hair. Do the roots first and then let the color sit on the grey for 20 minutes. After this take remaining color and distribute it throughout the entire head of hair and process another 25 minutes. Then shampoo out follow with a conditioner.

Asked by: Jackiemrdn
I found these colors ran dark. If you just want to remove the brassiness in the highlights you could try a blue shampoo.

The NN series has very strong pigments so it is great for grey coverages and so it is 1 level darker as it stated. So the result might come out would likely 6N.

First time doing my own hair color, covering my grey. Color Charm gel product was recommended. What else do I need with it in order to color my hair?

Asked by: Evie2020
I use Wella Cream Developer. 1 part color/2 parts developer. Going a lot lighter (brown to blonde) is a bit different, though. I use this all the time and what I love about it is it isn’t all one color. It looks so much more natural that way. There are slight color variations, like real hair color. Almost like it takes in  your color and tints it accordingly.

I want to put a little gold back into my hair. I currently use Wella 911 and my color seems to be getting a little too light due to the gray I am getting in the front of my hair. Which of the Wella colors is a light golden blond? Thank you so much. Co

Asked by: Colleen in Tustin
841 is Light Golden Blond. 811 is Light Blond, darker but without the gold. I have always been one to blend colors. If you find the 841 too gold, next time mix with the 811.  1/2 and 1/2 if you’re covering all your hair. I usually did smaller amounts for roots.  Good luck!!

What Color Charm gel crosses over to Wella Color Tango 7NN and 6NN, which I believe have been discontinued? I mix two golden brown shades to get the color I need. Or do you have some of the 7NN and 6NN left in your inventory?

Asked by: patricia29

Wella Color Charm creme based #8G/841 .Is it Light Golden Blonde (on box) or is it Light Golden Brown (as listed on your website)?

Asked by: Faye1980
The higher the number the lighter the color. I am currently using a 9 and it is really blonde. An 8 would be considered on the blonde side of the spectrum, just a tad darker.

No you cannot light your hair that much with a tint will only lift 1-2 shades but will also pull red so it will be brassy on dark hair, need to have it professionally bleached...

Which shade would give me a golden medium blonde? I have white/gray hair at roots. Find the gardnier medium blonde is too light now. Can't use ash cause white hair turns to gray. Would like to try gel color understand it colors better. Which color?

Asked by: Goldie392
Well, my hair is also white/gray and I started using a mix of medium and light blonde, Ash! adding drops of the red corrector plus (I don't like red tones), of course I apply only to roots, to protect my highlights, that I get re-done only twice a year. Now I'm using Color Charm permanent gel haircolor 7AA/632 Medium blonde intense Ash and as usual I add the drops of the red corrector (follow instructions about se), color is beautiful, blends perfectly with my hair and very stylish, as roots look just a bit darker giving an attractive contrast to the highlights. I hope this helps.

Asked by: Kathy76H
If your totally grey you don't need a high volume developer. 20 would be perfect to lighten your hair and have less damage that comes from the 30 or 40 volume.

So, I have dark brown virgin hair. I want to go ash brown. Like a light ash brown color. Any tips/suggestions?

Asked by: Zeezee221
Stick with a green base. Green is Ash. But depending on the level ash you may also consider a blue. Hair color is based on the color wheel artists use. If that helps.  Also pay attention to the number on the color 1-10. 1 is black 10 is the highest lift blonde. Start with a medium brown. You can always reapply with a darker color. However you can not lift a color with a color so always lean to the higher number for the lighter color.

I used 7w caramel turned out too dark for me. How can I make it 3-4 shades lighter?

Asked by: LINDSEYS
Try washing a few times with Dawn Dishwashing liquid, then a deep conditioning treatment. If still not light enough, mix shampoo, water and a little powdered bleach and lather up and cover with plastic. Check every five minutes, then shampoo out and deep conditioner.Second method is a little more damaging.Dont leave on too long.

after bleaching the hair, does this need to be applied on dry hair? or is it okay to apply to damp hair?

Asked by: bellarosa
The color needs to be mixed with the developer and applied to dry hair. You should consult with a licensed colorist regarding previous bleaching and possible damage to your hair.
