  • Mix Ratio: 1 part haircolor, 2 parts developer. Lighter than natural shade, first time application: Develop for 15 minutes, check, then process up to an additional 15 minutes or until color is even. Darker than natural shade, first time application: Develop for 30 minutes, check, then process up to an additional 15 minutes if additional coverage is needed.

Tips for achieving optimum coverage on gray hair:

    1. Select a shade level 8 or darker for best coverage; Lighter shades will create a translucent effect.

    2. Shades from Natural or Gold Family will produce a more natural result with optimum coverage.

    3. Mix with 20 Volume Well Color Charm Developer

    4. Apply generously starting at the area with highest percentage of gray or most resistant.

    5. Process for 30 minute, extend to 45 minutes if needed.

    6. For better coverage on hair that is more than 50% gray, use a fashion shade from the Red Family and mix with equal parts of Wella Color Charm Natural or Gold shade at the same level.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Nice color if you can stand heat Color looks great. I only left color on for half of the recommended time as within the first couple of minutes my head got really hot and it felt like it was burning.

I’m looks for wella permanent hair color for dark brown almost black hair. Have some gray has a tendency to turn brassy color when colored

Asked by: Gina2020
The gray hair will color but it will fade faster due to no pigment in the hair, I would go with the lightest black.

Should I apply this on completely dry hair? I know the toner is supposed to be used on towel dried hair so I wasn’t sure if this was the same case or not

Asked by: nicoxg03
Mix the hair color with the correct ratio and volume of developer and apply to dry hair.

What is the best permanent hair color to use if your hair is already dark in color but you want it to be red?

Asked by: Chipmunk
If you have virgin hair, you can use 4r or 5 r with 20 vol. If you have color in your hair, color doesn't lift color. So, for example you have level 5 hair, you'll have to go darker to a level 4RR deposit only 10 vol developer, to cover gray, 20 vol.

My hair is black. What is the lightest golden brown I can use? I want it super light. I noticed the light brown hair seems dark. Which hair color do I use?

Asked by: AGoddess
This is going to be a long, tedious, process. Do a strand test with the color charm. If the results are not what you want, you will have to pre-bleach and then put the color back in. I would change my thinking if I were you.

I put this on my roots for 40 minutes and then swish it all over my head for 5 minutes. Then rinse. Works great for me. Lasts about 5 weeks when my roots start showing
