Mix Ratio: 1 part haircolor, 2 parts developer. Lighter than natural shade, first time application: Develop for 15 minutes, check, then process up to an additional 15 minutes or until color is even. Darker than natural shade, first time application: Develop for 30 minutes, check, then process up to an additional 15 minutes if additional coverage is needed.

Tips for achieving optimum coverage on gray hair:

1. Select a shade level 8 or darker for best coverage; Lighter shades will create a translucent effect.

2. Shades from Natural or Gold Family will produce a more natural result with optimum coverage.

3. Mix with 20 Volume Well Color Charm Developer

4. Apply generously starting at the area with highest percentage of gray or most resistant.

5. Process for 30 minute, extend to 45 minutes if needed.

6. For better coverage on hair that is more than 50% gray, use a fashion shade from the Red Family and mix with equal parts of Wella Color Charm Natural or Gold shade at the same level.

Bleaching my hair with lightening powder and 20 developer to bring down dark brown hair then coloring with wella color charm permanent hair color. It says to mix it with 20 developer to, is this ok since used the 20 devoloper with the lightening powder to

Asked by: Dawn2204
Before you over process your hair, please test an area. If you bleached your hair to platium, you will only need to tone with color and I would use 10 vol instead. You will need to check the process at 10 minutes and every 5 minutes following.

I colored my hair w 911/9a can I tone with 10a/1030? Wella

Asked by: Jame1124
Sorry, I am a brunette, would risk answering a blond shade. Just to share my positive experience using color charm - I color my dark natural shade, then highlight & tone, after which use red or light brown shade to have non-brassy highlights & a beautiful lift to hair.

Wella medium brown is a 4, Loreal medium brown is a 5. Are they the same? The color charts look the same, but I always thought you're supposed to go by the number?? (I've used Loreal box #5 for years, want to switch to mixing my own with Wella liquid)

Asked by: CindyinVC
Wella provides a conversation chart. Always a good idea to look at it.

What should I use with the Color Charm Permanent Liquid Hair Color to color all over and for good gray coverage will it work by itself or it needs to be mixed with something else?

Asked by: Alla Fridman
Any permanent hair color needs to be mixed with a developer in order for it to process correctly. When used with a 20 volume developer most permanent hair color will cover grey hair.

I am trying to achieve platinum blonde, I was told by the woman working in Sally’s to use the Lightest Ashe Blonde Toner. Will this really work, also how much developer should I use? It only says one part, and I’m not sure what that’s supposed to mean.

Asked by: Lisha210
The color choice is good but I would use the permanent color formula as it will last longer without fading and the mix is different as you use more peroxide ie 2 to 1.

The gray hair will color but it will fade faster due to no pigment in the hair, I would go with the lightest black.

What is the best permanent hair color to use if your hair is already dark in color but you want it to be red?

Asked by: Chipmunk
If you have virgin hair, you can use 4r or 5 r with 20 vol. If you have color in your hair, color doesn't lift color. So, for example you have level 5 hair, you'll have to go darker to a level 4RR deposit only 10 vol developer, to cover gray, 20 vol.

My hair is black. What is the lightest golden brown I can use? I want it super light. I noticed the light brown hair seems dark. Which hair color do I use?

Asked by: AGoddess
This is going to be a long, tedious, process. Do a strand test with the color charm. If the results are not what you want, you will have to pre-bleach and then put the color back in. I would change my thinking if I were you.

My hairdresser uses 4N. What developer and how much do I add to the color? I would like to touch up my roots at home.

Asked by: Chelleathome
What is your natural hair color? Assuming you're looking to dye your roots. If you're blonde naturally, especially ashy blonde- you're probably going to want to use only a 10 developer. As a medium ash blonde haired person who loves to dye her hair dark - I've tried everything and my hair does not like to hold hair dye, especially if it's Ashy. I have to use N colors. And always 10 volume. Anything above 10 wouldn't allow my roots to hold the dark, rich color. Every time they would end up an ugly medium reddish brown color. I hope this helps.

Can I mix two different shades of hair color such as dark auburn and burgandy?

Asked by: Lindan56
Absolutely! You need to remember, though, to keep the ratio of hair color to developer the same. So it you use two 1.5 ounce bottles of color, you need a total of 6 ounces of developer. One note--those two colors together will likely be pretty dark--nearer dark purple than true red, depending on your underlying hair color..

Does the 511/5N Light Brown fade to a warm reddish tone? I use 6N/611 and it stays cool, but other browns turn warm. I want to use 511/5N on my roots and midway down, then 6N/611 at the ends for an ombre.

Asked by: rrachelberry
Following. I am always a 5N with hooch colour. I did my roots with the wella liquid permanent hair colour in 5N and it is sooo reddish. My old hairdresser recommended adding a touch of 4a but I’m not a pro!

What number toner should I use with Color Charm color?

Asked by: Jacqui D
I have only ever used 30 developer and the Color Charm liquid dye. I am a dark brunette and I dye to the shade called red and love it. Your natural hair and current color if different will determine the level of developer you need I believe. I have never heard of toner in this context.

Looking for Frosty Ash

Asked by: Cindy6305
Making your hair blonde is a difficult job. It all depends on your natural hair color. In addition everyone's hair texture is different, and absorbs color differently. It you have black hair, for example, your would have to undergo hours of prebleaching, and adding tone back in. If you are a red-head it's a different story. If this is the first time you have colored your hair, I would go to a professional.

How do I mix hair color?  I use to go to salon. I think my formula is 5N and 5RV?  I need to color my roots (white hair). Do I have to buy 2 hair colors? And mix the two boxes?

Asked by: Lisabee1
That is what I do, I mix my 4nw with just a small amount of 5nw and with 4 ounces I’d developer. Mix well. Then I part hair and start  applying to the roots. So squeeze it out of bottle and rub into roots one section at a time. I like to use a small coloring brush and paint it into the roots. Once all roots covered I wait 45 minutes and then rinse out. Don’t use shampoo only use conditioner and dry. Good luck you will do great.

Is 5N darker than 6N . How do they differ

Asked by: MIlliecent
The number, in this case five, is one level darker than six. The letter refers to the tone so for N, neutral.
