  • Mix Ratio: 1 part haircolor, 2 parts developer. Lighter than natural shade, first time application: Develop for 15 minutes, check, then process up to an additional 15 minutes or until color is even. Darker than natural shade, first time application: Develop for 30 minutes, check, then process up to an additional 15 minutes if additional coverage is needed.

Tips for achieving optimum coverage on gray hair:

    1. Select a shade level 8 or darker for best coverage; Lighter shades will create a translucent effect.

    2. Shades from Natural or Gold Family will produce a more natural result with optimum coverage.

    3. Mix with 20 Volume Well Color Charm Developer

    4. Apply generously starting at the area with highest percentage of gray or most resistant.

    5. Process for 30 minute, extend to 45 minutes if needed.

    6. For better coverage on hair that is more than 50% gray, use a fashion shade from the Red Family and mix with equal parts of Wella Color Charm Natural or Gold shade at the same level.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Titan Red Was easy to apply and looked decent for about a week. Might just be my hair type as I've never tried red before but it didn't seem to hold the vivid color very long.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very cool grayish/silvery light blonde This is a very cool blonde; almost like a silvery grayish blonde. I use it to mix with another colour from ion (10v) to achieve the coolish very light blonde I am wanting.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect tone, well balanced for my natural shade On a whim I purchased this shade, looking for something to highlight without any brassy or red tones and was absolutely thrilled. I'm on the dark blonde/light brunette side and this was exactly what I was looking for. It's a little thick when mixed with the Salon Care 20 Volume and since I use a highlight bottle adapter I just added about 20% water to get it through. Works great, looks great and this is my go to shade for life.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Horrible I bought the medium ash brown, knowing fully well that is my natural hair color (I’ve had other hair stylists tell me) so I felt confident in this purchase. It all looks well until my hair starts to dry. IT IS NOTHING LIKE ASH BROWN! My hair now looks dirty blonde with almost a hint of red in it. I’m so disappointed. I’ve been dying my hair for years and never had this problem. I’m not using Wella again. ASH SHOULD NOT LOOK WARM!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great color Great color, last a good amount of time before it washes out. Covered all my grays. I will definitely continue using this brand.

Can I mix two different shades of hair color such as dark auburn and burgandy?

Asked by: Lindan56
Absolutely! You need to remember, though, to keep the ratio of hair color to developer the same. So it you use two 1.5 ounce bottles of color, you need a total of 6 ounces of developer. One note--those two colors together will likely be pretty dark--nearer dark purple than true red, depending on your underlying hair color..

I have medium brown hair and I bought the light copper color, I meant to buy 20 volume developer but I accidentally bought 30... Should I buy the 20 volume or will the 30 not make a huge difference?

Asked by: Anony mous
Yes, it makes a difference. Your hair will be lighter than what you expect

Does the 511/5N Light Brown fade to a warm reddish tone? I use 6N/611 and it stays cool, but other browns turn warm. I want to use 511/5N on my roots and midway down, then 6N/611 at the ends for an ombre.

Asked by: rrachelberry
Following. I am always a 5N with hooch colour. I did my roots with the wella liquid permanent hair colour in 5N and it is sooo reddish. My old hairdresser recommended adding a touch of 4a but I’m not a pro!

What number toner should I use with Color Charm color?

Asked by: Jacqui D
I have only ever used 30 developer and the Color Charm liquid dye. I am a dark brunette and I dye to the shade called red and love it. Your natural hair and current color if different will determine the level of developer you need I believe. I have never heard of toner in this context.

Asked by: Chelleathome
Color Charm is 1 1/2 color and 3 oz peroxide. Use the cream developer 20 vol. if you can.
