  • Thick masque consistency that stays in place for a no-drip application Pleasant mimosa and ylang-ylang fragrance 1/2 moisturizing ingredients in every tube 100% gray coverage in just 30 minutes Reflective Shine
Wella Color Tango is bold, fade resistant permanent cream hair color with 100% gray coverage. Formulated with Color Ignite Technology™ for intense, saturated, fade-resistant color and Moisture Embrace™ Technology to surround each hair strand for deep-conditioning, a smooth application, stunning shine and long-lasting color.
  • How to Mix

Mix 1 part Wella Color Tango Permanent Masque Hair Color with 1 part Wella Color Tango Developer in a 1:1 mixing ratio. Due to the thick masque consistency, we recommend applying Wella Color Tango with a bowl and brush.

Process Wella Color Tango for 30 minutes to ensure 100% gray coverage. Always use Wella Color Tango Developer for best results.
    Wella Color Tango Developers:
10 Volume: For going darker or maintaining the same level.
20 Volume: For optimum gray coverage and lightening up to 2 levels.
30 Volume:  For lightening up to 3 levels and for more intense results through lengths and ends.

  • Use Wella Color Tango intensifiers to customize your color results - start by adding 1/4oz of the desired intensifier to your 2oz formula. Add the same amount of developer as the intensifier.

Color Tip: Wella Color Tango has a richer and more opaque color result in comparison to Wella Color Charm. If you are currently using Wella Color Charm, we recommend selecting a Wella Color Tango shade that is 1 level lighter than your existing shade to avoid getting results that are too dark. Remember to mix Wella Color Tango in a 1:1 mixing ratio and process for 30 minutes.

Use the Wella Color Charm Activating Lotion to deposit only color services, such as refreshing color through lengths and ends.

On-Trend Color Tip: Silver gray is one of the hottest hair color trends. You can create it using Wella Color Tango Intense Cool (IC). Mix 2oz Intense Cool + 2oz 10 Volume Wella Color Tango Developer. Apply on hair that has been pre-lightened to pale yellow and process for up to 15 minutes. Check every 5 minutes and shampoo once the desired tone is reached.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Brunettes, don't buy! I selected 4BB and this turned my roots red red brown, instead of a chocolate brown. Oh and it is NOT 100% gray coverage. I usually use Wella Colour charm with no issues. I have been colouring my own hair for just over a decade and I did my research before purchasing. I will NEVER use this line again. Just horrible. Waste of money and time.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poor choice This product washed right out of my hair. Yes I bleached it , toned it and in 2 days it turned orange and now one week and 2 days later I look like heat mixer on the Christmas cartoon.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Worked great So my client had a red hair color previously. She wanted to go platinum but her roots were already white. All in all the 10c icy blonde gave it a shine and it looked brighter than it was. I bleached the red then put the 10c on for about 45 min.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Goof Proof! Just started coloring at home, I’m about 6R with slight Gray at my temples and a bit on scalp.. I swore I”d never do my own hair but, $150 + per month became insane.. So, I tried this...OMG! AMAZING! I have long hair, medium texture, Med. Brown natural, been Red forever! Well..My hair looks GREAT! Shiny and dimensional.. it’s been 5 weeks and all is well. I shampoo daily. I used Wella Tango 20 developer on my scalp and Gray. I then used 10 on my hair, hence it’s a little darker.. So, next time I’ll use 20 like the directions say! TRY this, it won’t bite! What Shade of Demi should I use for me ends? Will this be back in stock?

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Gentle and durable Works great with my hair. My hair its black and thick, not easy to cover the grays. I tried before other brands and they didn't work. I dye my hair with this brand every two month's and i washer every 3 days.

I can't find 8R or 8RG anywhere! Will it be back? I'm a strawberry blonde and this is what I use.

Asked by: Allison ok
I use 7RG and 8RG and Sally's rep told me they are discontinuing the Color Tango line. Very sad as this has been the best shade and brand for me.

I want to go from 6R to 7R (mix 6R and 8R)...Do I need to do anything to my hair before applying the new color(s)?

Asked by: KCdoc1958
Color will not lighten color meaning when you put a lighter level over a darker color it will grab and actually get darker except the roots where your hair is natural that hair will be the color you want. The only way to lift color that is already in your hair is to use a lightener first.

Hello, I currently use Wella Color Charm. I mix 75% 5G/435 Light Golden Brown with 25% 5G/435 Dark Golden Brown with 20 Cream Developer. Which is the closest match in your Tango collection? I would like to try that for grey coverage. Thanks-Eve

Asked by: Eve 2019
I’m not sure about the color match...if you go to the website, they have a great chart and, they explain the levels, etc. Tango is GREAT for Gray coverage!  It’s a mask consistency so,it wraps around each hair and does a great job, Also, remember Tango shades are about one level lower (darker) than your usual liquid/cream colors.. For example, I’m usually a 6R...Although Tango doesn’t make a 7R, the Wella site explains how to mix colors, using different developer strengths, and, how to make ‘Shine’ from your Tango without having to buy clear Demi color.. So, I will be a 7R in Tango and a 6R in other colors...  To make the 7R Tango, I mix, 6R and 8R evenly...perfect shade for me!  And...Remember, Tango is meant for 100% GRAY coverage! I use Tango cream developer, cover my Gray first so, it’s on between 40-45 minutes...  I hope this helps you.

So i want 8r light ginger to be more lighter, and orange! Which peroxide I should use, or do I need to lift my hair to a level 9?

Asked by: ujtf5701
Use peroxide vol 30 if you have dark color in your hair, apply a COLOR FIX (one'n only) before use the 8R

What developer should I use for 2P? Jet black. Trying to get it as dark and bright if possible.  My hair is already a faded black and it has tones of red and brown in it.

Asked by: NormsJean
I would always use as low of a developer as possible. Once color fades your hair will return to its "natural" color. Developer helps bond color while also lightening hair (damaging hair) to that orangey brown us dark haired people are familiar with. I've had the same if not more success using the semi permanent (maybe demi?) black which doesnt damage hair and doesnt require developer.

i have a question can you mix the colors together

Asked by: belove12
Yes. This can however be complicated based on your hair color and type and the color your attemting to achieve. Wella's color chart available online provides this information. When in doubt I always recommend consulting a licensed cosmetologist.

Hi I normally use 6N and 7N 1/2 ratio . I want to go lighter 7N and 8 N 1/1 ratio. I have medium brown to slight dark with some grey especially patchy grey in front. Will this work and will my hair be light brown.?

Asked by: Meggie05
Hi, I would use a 40 volume starting from a half inch out. Or, even better - I'd start at my ends and do the lengths moving up to the 1/2 inch area. Then use a standard 20 volume on the roots. You can do it in one session or two.
