  • How to Mix

Mix 1 part Wella Color Tango Permanent Masque Hair Color with 1 part Wella Color Tango Developer in a 1:1 mixing ratio. Due to the thick masque consistency, we recommend applying Wella Color Tango with a bowl and brush.

Process Wella Color Tango for 30 minutes to ensure 100% gray coverage. Always use Wella Color Tango Developer for best results.

    Wella Color Tango Developers:
10 Volume: For going darker or maintaining the same level.
20 Volume: For optimum gray coverage and lightening up to 2 levels.
30 Volume:  For lightening up to 3 levels and for more intense results through lengths and ends.

  • Use Wella Color Tango intensifiers to customize your color results - start by adding 1/4oz of the desired intensifier to your 2oz formula. Add the same amount of developer as the intensifier.

Color Tip: Wella Color Tango has a richer and more opaque color result in comparison to Wella Color Charm. If you are currently using Wella Color Charm, we recommend selecting a Wella Color Tango shade that is 1 level lighter than your existing shade to avoid getting results that are too dark. Remember to mix Wella Color Tango in a 1:1 mixing ratio and process for 30 minutes.

Use the Wella Color Charm Activating Lotion to deposit only color services, such as refreshing color through lengths and ends.

On-Trend Color Tip: Silver gray is one of the hottest hair color trends. You can create it using Wella Color Tango Intense Cool (IC). Mix 2oz Intense Cool + 2oz 10 Volume Wella Color Tango Developer. Apply on hair that has been pre-lightened to pale yellow and process for up to 15 minutes. Check every 5 minutes and shampoo once the desired tone is reached.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Switched from Ion to Well and love it I have been using Ion for years. Decided to try Chestnut and this is a keeper. Covers grey a lot better and has made my hair really soft and healthy. My new go to.

Does anyone know where to get Wella Color Tango in 8R??? It's my fav and of course I cant find it anywhere anymore. OR does anyone know another product that is that same perfect 'Christina Henderson in Mad Men' red Ive only got with Color Tango 8R

Asked by: MeloraRabbit
I don't know about that specific shade but the Color Tango shade I used disappeared too. I replaced it with Color Charm, also by Wella. I found I like it even better than Tango. It's a gel rather than a cream, so I only need to use half as much to do my roots. It does require twice as much developer though. But it's still cheaper overall because I'm using half the color. And the color looks exactly the same as it did with Tango. Hope that helps!

I have been using GG color tango for years and believe it is discontinued because no one sells it in the stores and I can't find it here either but you have it in the photo of the tango products.Do you have something similar? Only thing that works! HELP!

Asked by: Claire Kern
Your previous hair color had an intense gold base (noted by the GG). The previous formula also looks like it had moisturizing properties. You will probably want something that is a level 9 or higher to get a lighter blonde. Colors that you can try are SBS-800438 9NG Sand Blonde with is a level nine neutral blonde with gold or if you want a deeper gold tone you can try SBS-800456 8G Light Golden Blonde. Both of these colors have a gold in the color base noted by the G in the color name. Which ever color you try, preform as swatch test first. To do a swatch test apply a small amount of color and developer mixture on a small section of hair, follow the processing directions, and see how the color turns out.

I usually get the 7b one for my hair but I noticed it might be a little too dark. What’s a shade that is a little bit lighter? I also usually use wella but I’m I’d love other suggestions

Asked by: Shazimazi
Level 8 would be the next lighter shade. A 10 is lightest. Wella is a good one, I also really like Ion and L'Oreal. Ion makes the best developer, gentle with a nice fragrance.

If I use a lighter shade, would it make my hair lighter in color or do you have to use bleach. My hair is dark brown, almost black and looking to use 5nb or 7bb

Asked by: SilveryTwin
It will make it a little lighter, mayby one level...however any time you lighten hair even with color it will become more redish

I can't find 8R or 8RG anywhere! Will it be back? I'm a strawberry blonde and this is what I use.

Asked by: Allison ok
I use 7RG and 8RG and Sally's rep told me they are discontinuing the Color Tango line. Very sad as this has been the best shade and brand for me.

I want to go from 6R to 7R (mix 6R and 8R)...Do I need to do anything to my hair before applying the new color(s)?

Asked by: KCDoc1959
Color will not lighten color meaning when you put a lighter level over a darker color it will grab and actually get darker except the roots where your hair is natural that hair will be the color you want. The only way to lift color that is already in your hair is to use a lightener first.
