Rated 1 out of 5 by from Doesn’t work! I bought this to highlight my medium brown hair. It did NOTHING!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love it I have been using this for years in ash blonde. I had professional highlights done and my roots started to come in. I wanted something that will cover the roots and extend my highlights and this worked great! I could not believe it turned my hair blond and not brassy red like all other colors. I have dark brown, almost black hair. Usually the only way to make my hair blond is bleach. Ever since, I have been applying it to my roots when they come in and I have now been blond for years. No one believes me when I tell them I only apply to roots and that the rest of my hair is blond since applying to roots!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Yay It looked good but my hair was very uneven from recent dye so that was my fault but I’d probably use this again one day

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Didn’t lift My hair color is a dark brown and only made it a little bit light but nothing way to noticeble

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Definitely for dark hair only Will leave a green tint but over all gives a high lift

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great at eliminating brass while lifting This dye is what helped me go from bright copper to a beautiful medium ash blonde shade. It took several uses over the course of a couple months to maintain my hairs health, but it worked. Keep in mind this color is very ashy. If you have hair that’s already blonde and not very brassy, it will turn your hair blueish gray. However if your hair is dark, this is what you need to prevent it from turning orange. As my hair got lighter the ash in this shade was too much so I mixed it with the shade Natural Blonde and it worked well, it was enough to neutralize the orange and lift my hair at the same time without it turning grey. P.S if your hair does turn grey don’t panic, the gray washes out after a few days.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome product I bought this and was really skeptical as after I got home I noticed it said virgin hair. I had tried to bleach my hair sev months ago and i did about 3 times just will not take, so each time ive ended up with brassy, orange hair. Even tho my hair had been bleached, and toned, I still used this product put on head with 40vol developer for left on for 15 minutes and I have the prettiest Ash Blonde, no brassiness and orange is gone.. I will def use this product again.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Do not buy. Used the Ash Blonde on my medium brown hair with a 40 developer and it barely lifted my hair ONE shade after leaving it on my hair for 45 minutes. Very disappointed.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Did nothing! I bought this in ash blonde for my hair and after it was done sitting it did absolutely nothing.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Lesson learned I bought the ash blonde to use on my root section to match my ends that are at a violet ashy blonde color because a employee recommend this after I showed her my roots that were at a level 8/9 Yellow blonde and this is what she handed me anyways it turned my hair a greenish color & the platinum parts turned grey/blue it's just really bad.i just hope it washes out

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Terrible I always use the hicolor red when I would go red so I decided to use the hicolor blonde for when I decided for a lighter hair color and this did nothing to my hair. Went to the drug store and got a kit there that did the job since hi color didn’t. I wasted money on 5 boxes of hicolor so I’m disappointed.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wonderful product Hi would like to ask , can I still dye my hair a little bit wet with this product I buy natural blonde
Date published: 2017-08-24
Rated 5 out of 5 by from 30 year customer!!! I still have my paper card! I buy this ALL THE TIME... it lifts 5 levels... more than I asked for( something with a higher lift) I use the ash blonde.... with 30 cream developer less damaging... my hair is a dark dark brown... my hair is ash blonde now and that's with NO TONER... My secret? Use the little packs of brass reducer and quick lightening... they are a little over $1.00.... USE THE WHOLE PACKS... I just tried this last month... works a lot faster and noticed no extra, I'm disappointed I spent so much wasted time to process... this cut off over an hour... Ps, No matter what it says on the packaging... you will have to leave it on a lot longer to achieve a pretty blonde.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lifted my hair from a med red to a med blonde I brought the Ash Blonde since I had red hair before I used it. The ash blonde worked great with lifting and helping to tone the red. I highly recommend the Ash Blonde. I've also used the reds and they work wonderful as well.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It works the way it's supposed too I have always wanted a carmel or blonde hair but I've died my hair red the past two years to I color stripped me hair and put honey blonde on my hair and it came out very close to the swatch at the store and I'm very pleased(I have medium length hair and thick hair as well and bought 3 boxes and used 40 developer)

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Doesn't work Waste of money...didn't work at all. Bought three shades to do an ombré, the only thing that happened was the brown LIT my roots up to a copper/brassy color (which it says it won't do)

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not what I expected I bought three ash blondes and three honey blondes boxes in hopes to get a blonde outcome at least ... after spending 30+ dollars I got a dark brown outcome .. very disappointed would've been better off just bleaching my hair

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Met my Expectations I have dark brown hair and I have always wanted to add cute colors in, but have always been fearful of bleaching after hearing so many negative comments. I finally found this product and thought to give it a try to lighten my hair. I did sections rather than my whole head and used a 30 developer. The color wasn't intense but I could definitely see the golden tone, but this is also my first time coloring my hair so I applied it thinly. After I added some turquoise and for the first time ever I finally have color in my hair and it pops! As far as maintenance I don't know what to expect but I had to make sure to make a comment on this product because it changed everything! Next I want to try a lighter blonde to see how much of a difference I can get. So Excited!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Read For Best Results FYI- This is suppose to be used on virgin hair, so for those of you using it on your pre-dyed hair, its obviously going to be a little brassy. The roots of my hair lifted with the ash blond with no red at all. How i used this.... I have dark brown hair naturally, but dyed it lighter last summer, then darker a couple months later. DAY 1: If you have previously dyed hair, i would suggest stripping the hair color out first. DON'T BLEACH IT OUT. I know this from experience and learned the hard way lol. your hair should be a nasty orange by then, but still in good shape. USE A DEEP CONDITIONER OR HAIR MASK AFTER THIS & leave in for at least 40min. DAY 2: If you use the ash blonde over it, it should be a medium golden blonde. I used the Wella toner in T18 over that to cancel some of the yellowy color out. On my hair i should have actually waited a day and used another bottle of the ash blond to lift it some more, which i'm going to do in a couple of days. Right now its a mix of light grey, ash blonde, and golden blonde. I've gotten so many compliments on it though. This process was soooo much better on my hair than bleaching the color out first. I'm sure if i had never dyed my hair, i could have achieved this color in a lot less steps, but im just happy that my hair feels as healthy as it did before.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from excellent at lifing dark hair I use the ash to lift my dark hair. It does so with no red.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Its a great product I am not sure why other people are not happy with this product, because It developed the color that was on the color swatch. dont know maybe they are choosing the wrong color for their hair. I used honey blonde and have natural dark brown hair. if you mix it and apply it according to directions it is perfect. I am very very happy with the results, for once I did not have to pre-lighten my hair to go looks natural and does not look like a bleached out effect. it goes perfect with my tan skin tone

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not Bad Before using this product I had faded red hair from using a demi dye months before. Naturally I have medium brown hair and my under layers are extremely dark, so in hopes of lighting them up and covering up the red I decided to use this. The combination of my past red hair and just the brass tones this leaves left my hair almost orange. I used cool tone shampoos and conditioners for about two to three weeks before it finally became the blonde that I wanted. Considering the fact that it did lighten my extremely dark hair I would recommend it, just be prepared for some brass and invest in some cool toned shampoos.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from DONT DO THIS TRUST ME!!! i read the reviews n a couple said it left there hair a bit brassy so my smart self said hmm? let me use some unred drops in this, big no no it left my naturally black hair like a swamp green. so if u use this do not use unred with it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from not too bad... I must say that for my experience it was great!!I did use it on hair that was previously bleached, also with a 30vl liquid peroxide, and the color came out nicely where it was already lightened, as for the roots there wasn't too much of a lift ,but acceptable for black/brown hair,...did leave them a little redish, but nothing to worry should cancel it right out or even with a toner....and it does not damage hair too much, mine actually came out felling very soft and no bad smell. I would reccomend a 40vl on healthier hair, but overall I love the outcome

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Turned my hair brassy red! This product turned my medium and dakr brown hair an ugly brassy red, and now it appears damaged. I'm very unhappy, and I would not recommend this product to anyone. Very disappointed!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Incredible results for dark hair !! I would be lost without this product. I have tried every product & every technique to get natural blonde highlights on my very dark brown hair (level 3?) With a 2:1 40v dev to color I get 4 to 5 levels of lift with no trace of orange at all. Forget bleaching & toning - this gives perfect results in 1 step. It says it is for use on uncolored hair, but I have used it to freshen the areas where I've used it before and it always works great!

I have had dyed black hair for over a year im pretty sure it faded to dark brown will this work with a 40 developer to get my hair light enough to color nermaid blue.

Asked by: Steph576
It will turn your hair a orange color so the blue may not show up at all. You need to use color erase product 1st to strip the hair of its black/brown artificial color and see how light you can get it. Stripping the hair can damage it so use precaution and follow with a deep conditioner!!!!

Is this product good to use if you are trying to dye your hair other bright colors without the harmful effects of bleach? (e.g. dying it using this blonde, and then dying your hair blue )

Asked by: killakay0723
Not a good idea.  This doesn’t strip your hair like bleaching so bright colours won’t be vibrant.

Does it lift previously colored hair?

Asked by: Bquirky2
No it really didn't lift the color? It more or less toned it into that ashy blond but the color didn't stay very long either. It might work for colors closer to lighter blonds, but I didn't get much lift out of it.

I used this and was wondering if I applied a color remover, would the dye come out?

Asked by: Elc199523
It is a permanent color so maybe not especially if you dyed it on virgin hair. If you dyed it a natural color like blonde, no. But red maybe I’ll only lighten it

What amount of 30 volume developer to use with highlight creme

Asked by: Sunshine629
I tried to use just 30 volume and leave it on for 20 min for the most time but my hair came out too bright, like orange. I have dark brown hair. So I put 1/2 a lid of 30 volume and 1/2 a lid of 10 volume and leave it on for 30 min. And it comes out perfect. 20 volume doesn't take the color good enough. The front hair line i recommend using a small comb in the roots to have a longer lasting color in the front. good luck
