Rated 1 out of 5 by from This is NOT ash!!! I got the ion color brilliance medium intense ash brown. As I was mixing the color with the developer, I noticed red and pink tones. After the color was applied to my hair and finished, my hair turned out with VERY WARM TONES!!!! I had to go back to the store and buy another color to fix the nightmare. This color shouldn't be labeled ash when it deposits warm tones into your hair!!! Customer service was no help with this either!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Reddish Brown Nightmare! Not Ashy at All!!!! Just bought and used this dye on my dark brown hair and I am so disappointed. I’ve used the regular ash brown from Ion and it worked perfectly. This one should have been called intense red brown! I think the dye was mislabeled. Stay far, far away from the intense ash collection from Ion. Don’t say you weren’t warned!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love the green base! I used this ash/green drab in dark blonde over my auburn and copper highlights and it toned it all down to a nice drab and ashy shade that I haven't had since I was a young girl before I started using hair dye. I LOVE THIS DYE

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not an ash color I used this color on my naturally light brown hair with 20 developer. It turned my hair a very warm, golden light blonde color. It's not a horrible color but it is nowhere near an ash tone.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Right level - No Ash I have been having my hair coloured professionally for the last 4 years, but recently changed back to my solid level 4 brown hair. I'm 1/3 grey and didn't want to pay 70$ to have my roots done, so I bought this to cover my roots and tone the red out of my hair. I purchased the level 5 (as my colourist has been using) with a 20 volume. I did my roots and after 20 minutes I pulled the colour through to the ends for an additionally 25 minutes. My hair came out all the same shade :) as I was very worried I see a difference between the root and previous colour. But it didn't take on all the grey and it definitely is not an ash shade. My hair seems to have a light golden tone and the end effect is a very natural look - but that's not what I wanted. What I did like was how thick this product was, how easily it rinsed out and how soft my hair felt after too.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Does the G stand for gold?? Love finding these intense ash colors as I'm always trying to combat the reds. But if the G in the AG stands for gold, why are you adding a warm tone to an ashy color?? Even with the intense ash I'm having to use toner and combat the red tones that still come through. If only I could find a true ashy color without any warmth, and not have to follow with toner and highlights to keep the red down.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Intense Ash My natural hair is dark brown with lots of underneath red tones. I always use the most ash possible, so when this product came out i had to try it. I was not disappointed after styling! Loved this color instantly. Will continue using it☺

I have some red tints in my hair should I use the dark intense ash to get it out of my hair prior to dying my hair brown. Thank you

Asked by: Virg1986
I have the red tints as well and absolutely love this color, it looks so natural toning down the red tint to my hair. I used to add the additives to the ash dye and for me this color works much better.

Since there is no 6-Intense Ash with a Double-Green Base in the Ion Liquid comparable to the 6AA from Clairol, nor the 7AA from Wella, I'm wondering if this (6AG) is a good conversion, And, can I mix this with Ion Liquid?

Asked by: ScarlettFire777
I mix the Ion 7G with the 6AG.  I do half in half and I always get comments on the color.

Hair Color Tone After establishing the level of your natural or desired hair color, you'll next have to figure out its tone. Hair color tones generally fall into three standard categories: warm, cool, and neutral. When hairstylists discuss color, or if you are choosing a color from a swatch book, the tones are often indicated with a letter. Here are examples of standard color tones: Cool Tones A: Ash B: Beige B: Blue G: Green V: Violet Warm Tones C: Copper G: Gold O: Orange R: Red W: Warm RB: Brown/Red RO: Red/Orange Neutral Tone N: Neutral—neither warm nor cool

Right now my hair is a semi ash blonde with some left over blue and tiny bit of pink in it which makes my hair look like a faded green. I am trying to get an ashy blonde to ashy light brown. How will this product result in my hair and should i buy it?

how to apply creme? lost instructions. thank you

Asked by: blessroz
1:1 mixing ratio. Two ounces of color to two ounces of 10, 20, 30 or 40 Volume ion Sensitive Scalp Creme Developer. High Lift Blonde series is mixed 1:2 ratio: Two ounces of color to 4 ounces of 30 or 40 Volume Ion Sensitive Scalp Developer. Bowl and brush application is recommended. Always read the product packaging and inserts for complete directions, instructions, and warnings, and make sure to perform both the strand test and the patch test before applying your color. If have never colored your hair and you want to change your current hair color or you have not colored in 3 months or longer follow these steps: Apply hair color mixture to dry, unwashed hair • Work gently through hair as you would a shampoo. Loosely pile hair on top of head • Process according to manufacturer’s directions. When processing time is complete, add a small amount of warm water to hair and work into lather • Rinse until the water runs clear. If you color your hair every 4-6 weeks with a shade of similar tone and level follow these steps: Make 1/4” partings throughout dry, unwashed hair • Apply mixture onto new growth area only, working from the front to the back of your head. Leave color on new growth area for 25 minutes. When processing time is complete, add a small amount of warm water to hair and work into lather • Rinse until the water runs clear. Other tips: Always perform a strand and patch test • It is often not necessary to refresh the ends of the hair on every permanent hair color touch-up application • For resistant gray, use 20 Volume ion Sensitive Scalp® Creme Developer and apply to gray area first • Apply a stain barrier cream around the hairline prior to application when using dark shades • Choose a lighter shade than desired if you are unsure of which shade to use or if you have very few gray hairs • Use an old towel to protect your clothing
