Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome Product Love, love, love this dye. I would say that my hair was a level 3 dark brown, I used this dye with 30 volume developer and I definitely have a level 5 or 6 red and I get a ton of compliments. My hair didn't feel straw-like and dead afterwards either.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not it! I like the age beautiful colors, been using them for years. This line however sucks. I followed the instructions and it turned just my roots and the top of my forehead strawberry blonde. I have almost black hair! I tried it a second time and its even worse, I am so disappointed that I wasted my time and money on this. I now have black and purple hair with a strawberry blonde crown. Not cool!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Absolutely Horrible Dye. I have boxed dyed hair that’s a medium brown with blonde highlights in my hair, from my previously blonde hair underneath. The woman that helped me at Sally’s said that I should use this dye & she recommends it. When I put the dye in my hair, I noticed that it wasn’t turning my hair red. & I know for sure that I mixed the developer & dye together correctly. So i was really confused. Once I washed it out, I was left speechless. This dye turned parts of my hair bright pinkish orangey red, didn’t even dye that medium brown color, & left my blonde highlights in my hair a light salmon pink color. My hair also feels super dead & fried, when it felt super healthy before. This dye is absolute garbage, & I don’t recommend it, what so ever.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Medium blue-violet + Light Red-violet I was honestly very hesitant to try this color line because there were so many negative reviews. First off, I can understand why some people are upset because the shades medium violet and medium blue-violet promise to turn people's dark hair into those colors. Unfortunately, that's really gimmicky and misleading because it's almost impossible to get those kinds of colors on dark hair unless it's prelightened. The brand needs to fix this claim because it's really false advertising. However, after reading some of the reviews I kind of got an idea of what colors I wanted to use. I had two friends that wanted to go burgundy. One was a level 3/4 naturally while the other was a level 2. I chose to use medium blue-violet and light red-violet to get a light burgundy with minimal brassiness. Because these are high lift colors you will definitely get hot roots if you apply it from roots to ends with the same developer unless you do it strategically. The directions say to mix 2 parts of 30 developer only but you can honestly use whatever developer you want. In order to avoid hot roots I mixed 1oz of each color and used 2oz of 20vol developer and 2oz 30vol to create a 25vol because I still wanted the lift but I wanted to control any brassiness. I applied that all to the roots first and went about an inch out. Once I finished the roots I immediately went back in and put the remaining of each color tube and mixed with 4oz of 40vol developer to the midlengths and ends. Processed for 40 mins under a cap and took off the cap for the last 5 mins. Shampooed and conditioned. It literally creates the most perfect burgundy shade! Absolutely loved it and my friends loved it too!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Better than expected I read a lot of negative reviews about this product. I tried the Lightest Red, with a 30 developer from ION, and I added a couple of the red protein drops from COLORFUL (#10 Red Red). I feel like I got pretty amazing results. I had about 2.5 inches of virgin hair and the rest was an extremely faded red hair from two semis I had mixed about a month ago. I've used the Loreal High Light before (both magenta and red). And the last time I tried the Red, I also added the protein drops and I basically got the same results with the age beautiful. I think people are dying their hair on dyed hair. It doesn't matter if you haven't dyed your hair in 3 months, if the color is still there you will get bad results. I was only going to use this on my roots, but 6 oz total covered just about all of my hair. I highly recommend this, but you have to have virgin hair or at most a dyed light brown.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Do NOT purchase if you want purple hair If I could give this product zero stars I absolutely would. I purchased blue-violet because I wanted to dye my hair BLUE VIOLET. Instead, it turned out to be a vibrant red. Last I checked, those colors were not similar at all. It lightened my darker hair and made it red. That was it. Do not purchase this product, it's not worth the money at all. I have never been more disappointed in hair dye than I have been now.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from The color isn't right. I colored my hair Sunday and after 1 wash it's already coppery looking at the roots. I used the medium red violet and it looks amazing on some parts of my hair but I think that is still from the Fushia I had in from another color.

my hair is hard to hold curls and almost sholder lunth what perm and rods do i need for a spirle or piggie back look

Asked by: raven1926
Wrong page to be asking this on since this is discussing hair color, but if your hair is hard to perm, like mine, then I'd say skip the perm and just use a spiral curling hot iron every day. If the same thing happens to that does to me and my stick straight hair, I get it permed, it looks nice until the first wash then no mater what products I put on it to help keep the curls, it just automatically goes to frizzies. If you HAVE to perm it, you might want to try the long foam rods so you can wrap from top to bottom, all curl will be the same size as more hair is exposed. I'm talking the long foam rods that you can bend into a circle. Get a perm for resistant hair. Good Luck!

If my hair is burgundy what color will my hair be after i color it intensely vivid vibrant violet tones

Asked by: MandiLee
color can't pick up color, but you can try with a strand test, if that does not work you may have to bleach. Now I know everyone freaks out with bleach, but if you are trying to go purple, you really only need to lighten the hair a little bit, I do a lot of red and garnet and red violet hair colors from ION, and I only lighten my hair to a light/med orange. I used the ION cream bleach and a lvl 10 developer. I was very pleased with the results. All I've been using the past 8-10 months is semi permanents from ION.

I love this color but cannot use it because I have non virgin hair. Is there another permanent product of a similar color for those with previously colored hair?

Asked by: colorhelp5
I used the med. intense red for dark hair on top of hair that was previously dyed black. My roots definitely came out more the color i wanted, but the dyed part did take color without damage. used 1:1 mix instead of 1:2(recommended) because I was experimenting. I will be doing it again with 1:2 mix to see what happens. I will let you know. Wish me luck!

Can I substitue the developer for anything else so my hair with lift?

Asked by: Jackie27lol
You need to mix it with developer in order to get the hair to lift and deposit the color. 10 is for depositing, 20-30 for lift, 40 for the max amount of lift

Can this be used on previously colored hair? My hair is currently colored with ion 5vr.

Asked by: Britnee86
No, it says so on the package and it will strip out any color you thought you had and change it to something really ugly. Stick to Ion.
