Rated 5 out of 5 by from Covers grays well! I've been using Dark Burgundy Brown (3RV) for years now to cover up my premature grays. But in the last year, I'd noticed more of a dusty pink sheen when I'd dye my hair and realized I was at the point in which I had to change my coloring routine due to more grays coming in. Fortunately, I know several stylists and got feedback into the world of neutral dyes. After much mulling over, I got the 3n- Medium Intense Brown, hoping it would be a good "base" color for the burgundy brown to show in all its glory. I did half an oz of neutral to 1.5oz of burgundy, and then mixed with 3oz of 20 developer, just to test the waters since I know how dark Ion's browns are. The result- a teeny bit darker than anticipated, but the burgundy is there, just not as bold as it usually is. What's cool is that it does give the same effect the burgundy does in the sunlight, but without the purple hue seen indoors. HOWEVER, it has done an excellent job covering the grays better. No more pink/dusty bits after a fresh dye job! Since I'm still experimenting with using neutral dye, I may go up one more shade lighter to see how it fares with the burgundy brown.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Used On Natural Hair To Prevent Dusty Look ;) It is truly a deep black color. Not a blue black or anything of that nature. I'm really happy with it. When you have natural hair the dark color makes your curls look rich and healthy.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect color I really avoid a red based brown color and was pleasantly surprised to find this color was the purple/black based brown I prefer. It looks great!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Horrible Horrible. My hair went black. I would not recommend this tone at all. For more than 5 years I used the 8wr tone, and I bought this color because it is the one that most resembles my natural color but my hair went black.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Nope nope nope I need to dye my roots often. My natural hair color is almost jet black, but greys are trying to take over. I usually use Wella Color Tango and it covers my greys very well, but I was looking for a liquid so that it would be easier to mix a smaller batch if I needed a touch up sooner than usual. I mixed, applied, left it on about an hr (I usually leave color on longer than needed), rinsed, conditioned, and was pleasantly surprised for about 10 seconds. My roots were BROWN, not intense black. The other bottles are going back bc other than it not covering my greys, it stinks, and continued to stink for a full 2 days.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Happy 16 year old I have been using this product with the 20 volume developer for over a year to help my naturally light brown-haired daughter achieve the perfect strawberry blonde she wants. It is gentle enough not to fry her hair while being very strong color and not fading. I started using ion products after a color disaster we were trying to correct on a different daughter, and now I never use anything else.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best color for my hair Excellent grey coverage and very natural looking. I've been using this for years and love the quality. I do dislike coloring my own hair, and tried a chain salon for 2 color applications about 6 weeks apart and the dye they used was garbage. It didn't cover the grey completely and it was so blotchy. The first time, I thought the stylist just wasn't thorough. The second time with a different stylist, I realized it was their poor quality dye. I'm back to applying it myself and very happy with how it turns out every time.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from pretty good color beautiful brown color although light brown is a bit dark at first it lightens a little with washing but I'd recommend a dark blonde if you want light brown hair and buy this because light brown is definitely not light brown. but still very pretty and natural, i dyed my eyebrows too it didnt burn. use vaseline around the brow and anywhere else you might get the hair color you don't want it to stain your skin. also i find myself using less of the product since its liquid instead of creme it goes a littlr farther and you dont have color sticking to the walls of the bottle. only 4 stars because the light brown was so dark.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good Color I have colored my hair for 25+ years but have a sensitive scalp and wanted to try something new. Bought this product 7NN and the sensitive developer. The application was a little messier than I expected as the color clumped a bit in the bottle as another reviewer indicated. I may go bowl and brush next time. I have always used "neutral" or "ash" colors to prevent the red tones. I should have mixed in another color or the additive to reduce red as it turned out to be a much darker blonde with serious red tones. BUT I do see a big difference in the color quality and an even distribution with some good natural looking highlights. All gray is covered! I am going to give it another try with a lighter blonde and figure how how to reduce the red tone. Scalp handled the developer very well!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Wanted Blonde And Got Auburn! I bought this a couple days ago and I was wanting to lighten up and even the color out, and cover the few gray hairs that I have. I bought the light Intense Blonde 8NN in liquid. I had used the Wella Tango in Caramel previously, but it had been more than 4 months since I had colored last. I left the color on my hair for about 40 minutes. This is the darkest my hair has been ever, in fact my hair color before I colored it was at least 3 to 4 shades lighter than it is now. Very unhappy with the this hair product.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Color Didn't Take Well- Black Brown not Black I wanted black hair with absolutely no brown hint, streaks or high lights. When the sun hits my hair, it still has the reddish brown tint that it had before I even dyed it. I was told to use liquid dye because I have thick, long hair but it just didn't take well. I let it sit for about an hour and used the after color sealer, the color defense shampoo and conditioner. It's been only a month but my hair looks noticeably lighter already compared to freshly dyed. I used cold water only to wash and have products meant for color treated hair. I went back to Sallys today and was told that this brand isn't that great and was recommended the Argan Oil One N Only dye that I'd used in 2016 (that took amazingly well!). So maybe my hair texture is too thick and coarse for this dye but it did get my hair darker. I've had liquid dye before and it took well but not this one. My hair LOOKS black but it's still closer to my original color (1B-black brown) than a jet black.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Very poor color saturation I have tried other ion brand dyes, but the liquid color is not as good at color saturation the way the cream dyes or semi permanents are. I have dark brown hair and wanted to dye it black. I used a 20 developer the first time and a 30 the second. Not worth a 3rd tried.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Feeaked out at first but then... Ok this was my first time dying my own hair. I have a few VERY stubborn greys right in the front, I usually get my hair done at the hair salon but lately the color fades within a week, even before i would wash my hair. Since it’s very few grey hair I decided to look into it and at least between hair appointments do it myself. At first I used bigen cause it was just about mixing with water, it did work better than my hair salon but not as i wished. I then decided to look into professional hair colors and this has the best reviews. First of yes definitely I need a bottle to apply it, it’s too messy and liquid to use a bowl, then I freaked out as I started applying it! The mixture turns a blue toned black color and since The color I picked was darkest brown (my hair is dark brown) I was worried it was gonna be black! So I quickly put it on the areas i needed and then waited just 20 minutes because the lady at sally said the longer i waited the darker. turns out the shade of the color was perfect. It washed off skin very nicely, I had blue stains everywhere! And the color is so shiny! Where i put it last and processed only 20 minutes it didn’t stick to the hair as well as where I applied it first but it’s understandable since it needs to stay at least 20 minutes and my greys are stubborn. Now let’s see if and when it fades. Definitely gonna use it again!

I usually use permanent color brilliance cream light intense brown but noticed it doesn’t mix well can you recommend another product that is very similar color ?

Asked by: Nikki297
I have used permanent color brilliance liquid light intense brown for years and like it very much. I tried the cream version and had the same problem of it not blending well. I mix it 1:1 with 20 volume developer.

Which Developer do I need to use for the 1NN intense black?

Asked by: G_Lady87
It depends on how porous your hair is. If your hair has split ends or is damaged I would use 10 or 20. You only need higher if you are covering grays and if your hair is healthy but the color is dark enough to cover almost anything else. And if you need to cover grays but still are worried about damage, you can still use a lower volume and leave it in for an extra 10 minutes
