Rated 1 out of 5 by from Horrible. It cut my hair off. It left my hair stripped. This is so horrible. Do not buy! My hair literally fell out like if it was bleached. It was just dark brown. No bleach involved.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from A lot darker than expected I have light brown hair when I purchased the Dark red violet dye, and I know it says dark but I was expecting a nice wine red burgundy kind of color, what I got instead was black except when you stand under a light and it reflects some red lol. It wasn’t bad, just not what I expected so be careful!

Can this dye in 11n be used w clarion 3p Vol developer or do you have to use their brand of developer?

Asked by: Dianagirl1
I don't really know for sure. I got their developer because I thought it might work better. I am finding that I don't have to dye my hair as often. I'm not sure if it's just the dye or because I'm using both the dye and developer.

My hair is dirty blonde an it pulls a lot of red and I don't want It to turn or maroon or burgundy so if i was wanting it medium to dark brown what color an developer would i buy and if i wanted a lighter shade of blonde what would i need yo buy

Asked by: AmandaW88
I go with the 20 volume no matter what. I have dark blonde hair too, and 30 volume will achieve a lighter blonde but it may damage your hair if you leave it on too long. I usually go with a dark ash blonde to avoid the brassy look.

I am a level 6 neutral. What color should I buy? My hairdresser recommended you.

Asked by: Bethany777
I am a level 6 neutral and I have gray but I always used 6n or a shade darker 5n to cover gray. I've been using clairold soyplex happily. Use 10 volume developer to deposit color and 20-30 Vol developer to lighten . Mix equal part color and developer. Leave on at least 30 minutes but if u have gray 45 min.
Answered by: Dianagirl1

I am trying to lighten my already bleached hair. I seen a video that recommended a hi lift color. Will this do the trick? PS. Not wanting to each again it is already damaged enough

Asked by: jstacks90
Hi, yes it will help. Use 20 or 30 developer to get a higher lift. After you achieve the desire tone use it alone or with 10 developer to keep it toned.

I used 6cm with 20 volume developer and i added 6n also. It didn’t cover my grey hair it gave copper color in grey hair

Asked by: Kash pan
I found that I had to leave it in for longer than 30 minutes to cover all the gray.  Try 45 min next time.

How much vol 20 color generator needed for 1 bottle of 6N color?

Asked by: Bubu2020
You would use equal amount of developer to ounces of color. If the bottle has 3 ozs. than 3 ozs of developer/generator. Sorry for previous answer..usually you get 2 ounces of color but Chi comes with 3.

I am considering Iconic shine shade permanent color 8RR- med red red blonde. However on the box it says red copper...........i did not want an orange tone, any suggestions?

Asked by: katch1108
This turned my strawberry blonde hair "Ronald McDonald red". No orange, just lots of bright red, which rinsed out of my ends, so I had bright red roots and strawberry blonde ends. Not a good look at all!

I’m new to do. Do I need to mix it with anything?

Asked by: CiaraChay
Yes, you would need a developer with it. Depending on whether you want it go lighter, darker or just depositing would change your volume developer. 30 if you’re doing a light color, 10 if you just want to deposit color.

roots are pale yellow.  When I put this on will it turn the hair green?  I plan on using a 20 volume developer and leave it on as directed.

I would like to use this to touch up my roots myself. My hairdresser uses level 3 Chi ionic color to touch up my roots. What developer should I use? Does this cover up gray well?

Asked by: victoria16
With chi color you need to use the Chi developer. If you don’t need to lift (meaning roots are darker than rest of hair) you could use equal Parts color and equal parts Chi developer 20 volume unless you need  highlift. Yes it’s good grey coverage (if u use 20 volume) but you will most likely need to leave it on for full time allowed, or maybe add moist heat for 10-20 minutes then room temp for 10-15 minutes for full penetration

What other items do I need to make this work

Asked by: Minabetty
Just developer, pick the vol that will achieve the result you want. 10% will lift just enough to deposit the color and 20% will lift up to two levels and deposit the color.

I want to lift my virgin hair 2-3 shades. I am currently level 3 and want to be 5-6; will this and CHI Generator developer lift my hair color?

Asked by: PirateMermaid
(Cosmetologist here) Correction, level 40 will lift your hair 3 levels. You do not necessarily need to bleach first. If you want to go any lighter THEN you will need to bleach and tone it to the desired color. Level 10, deposit. Level 20, 1 level lift. Level 30, 2 level lift. Level 40, 3 level lift.

Do I need to use anything else, like a developer with this?

Asked by: Slapjack
Yes, it’s just like hair dye, the developer has to be included or I think your hair will fry. The higher the developer the lighter you go, I use red crimson with a 10 developer, it came out a nice darker red, except my greys in the front they went lighter. If you want bright then bleach it first, but only if your starting of with a brunette shade.

Is it possible to use Chi ionic shine permanent hair color at home? What developer I should use? I have virgin black hair. Can I use dark red violet brown? Thank you so much

Asked by: Amyhuynh
You can definitely use this at home. Just pay close attention to the directions and the time. It's actually a good consistency not too thick and not too thin. And it's definitely high color I use the partner Chi developer.

How much developer do I need to purchase for two whole bottles ? Also to get a hi lift what volume developer do I need?

The ratio is 1:1 so you would need 6 oz for two of these bottles. The higher the developer the higher the lift.

I have been coloring with L'Oreal permantent color and 20% developer, and I have mid-light hair that is supposed to be ash, but now kind of brassy. I am thinking of the light silver blonde shade. Remove old color first,& then do depostit only on lengths?

Asked by: Lisalottelou
You wouldn't need to strip the color if you're just worried about the brassy color. This would work perfect as a toner and get rid of that brass.

I got my hair balayage dyed over a year ago so I’ve got some bright blonde halfway through my hair with the top half being a dirty blonde. I am wanting to dye it black myself. Is this even possible or will the balayage not take properly?

You will need a protein filler for your previously lightened ends to equalize porosity and prevent the color from taking too light or slipping out

Chi developer. The strength will depend on how you are using the product. For a demi use a 10 vol and go up from there.
