Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice cool tone, no brassiness This clairol 7aa actually gave me a nice medium blond color without brassiness. It really helped to tone the red undertones in my hair. Only down side is that you need to use a brush for application. It does not color my hair well by using just bottle application, especially at the roots. I left it on 45 minutes because it was a little orange still at 30 minutes. I used the clairol 20 developer with it. Hard to find extra ash blond colors. This one works.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Product availability I happy to know that I can order the product that I frequently buy on line that is always sold out at the store. This makes it more convenient for me. I was always going to the store, so this way I have it set up for continuing to ship to me every four months. This saves me time.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Availability I love love love this color. My only problem is that I can never find it locally in any stores. I always have to order it, which can be an issue sometimes.

I used 5N/85 (Lightest Neutral Brown) the results were more gold/brassy some red tint. I used soy 4plex 20 developer and processed for 20 min don't know if I didn't leave on long enough to get more natural brown shade I would refer. Any suggestions?

Asked by: Kittie19
Add a tiny amount of Unred color additive to the Soy4Plex with the developer- this will reduce or entirely eliminate the tendency of your hair to have red or brassy tones. Without it, my hair ALWAYS has red tones even though my natural shade is brown.

I need two Clairol GRAY BUSTERS permanent hair colors...5N/85N and 6N/86N. Your site is very incomplete and confusing! HELP!!!

Asked by: FiberglassLady
It's not my site. I merely use their products. Frankly, in my opinion, Clairol is no good ever since they went to their "soy" formulas. Ask a local hairdresser; someone who cuts your hair can make a recommendation. I can't recommend any Clairol colors anymore, not for years. Maybe someone else on their site can give you their advice.

I used 8A with equal parts 20 developer - The color was darker than I was hoping for. Should I use 30 developer or go to a 9A.

Asked by: irrac1964
Yes, sometimes just using a higher developer will bring the shade up. I also mix mine sometimes. You can add a few drops(or more) of the 9A.

My 14 year old daughter has blonde hair and wanted to try a "temporary" silver/slate color. Is that possible without having to bleach her hair? Thanks in advance!

Asked by: kmcarr66
Wish I could be of more help, but I use a mix of four of the colors to cover some seriously gray hair!  But since her hair is naturally blond, you should have no trouble adding a silver or slate.  Please note that these are permanent colors; you should definitely try one of Sally's washable colors first.  If she really likes it, then you could go with a semi-permanent color.  Good luck!

I have been using 3RN for years. With more white/gray, it fades out to a lighter reddish brown. Would mixing an ounce of 2N (dark neutral brown) with a full bottle of 3RN keep the red highlights but reduce the fade? I use a 20 developer.

Asked by: rsjones1
Unless the directions state otherwise, I’d use a 10 volume developer.  20 probably has too much lift.
