How do I use it with 20 volume clear developer

Asked by: WenchKW5
One part color with one part developer. So if use 2 oz of a color, you will use 2 oz of developer mixed in.

Do I use the whole bottle of 20 volume clear developer with the permanent dye

Asked by: WenchKW5
You use the same amount of developer as you do dye. So if you are using 1oz of dye you use 1oz of developer.

Does the chrome dye wash out quick??

Asked by: haleymvrie
I recently used both Plum & Chrome on my naturally dark brown hair (which I first used a bleaching kit on to lift the existing color). I found that I needed to use the Chrome color twice, as it did not fully take after one application. I have been happy with the results since the second application. It has only washed out a little in the shower. I would suggest using a good color protecting shampoo & conditioner, as well as ion's pre & post color treatments. Good luck!

I doesn't wash out. If you keep it up with shampoo for colored treated hair. It last as long as it would if a stylist did it.

So, a few weeks ago I dyed my hair with Manic Panic Infra red, so now its fading and looks orange. What would you guys recommend I do if I wanna do the Black cherry. My hair is naturally light blonde

Asked by: HQ1111617
Manic Panic is Semi-Permanent so a few weeks is about right. I'd recommend a Wella Cherry Permanent as a base and then touch-up with Manic panic every week.

I died my hair this colour back in spring, my hair is a darker brown/red-y orange, my roots are a natural dark brown/black. I used a 20 volume developer with this too. So my question is, if I use this colour again, with the 20, will my hair lighten more?

Asked by: Olivia S
Not sure if it would necessarily lighten more, but being someone that has used numerous brands and this brand being a go to for years, I know typically these colors come ready to use so there’s not actually a need to add developer. My personal recommendation would be to check the box to double check that the dye is ‘ready to use’, and assuming it is try dying your hair or strip testing a section without developer. Id say the dye likely is/was a ready to use dye, and the developer worked more like a dilute or pastelizer opposed to, if thats the case just apply the straight dye without the developer and your problem should be solved, but I would try a strip test and start with just a section to check that thats the issue and not that your hair just didn’t take to this particular dye/brand

I dye mine right after as long as you’re not stripping more color or bleaching again just adding color will be fine after washing all bleach out

Do i use developer with ion chrome permanent hair color

Asked by: Angela Rivera
Permanent Toners/Dyes require developer to process. Test stranding is also a perfect way to preview the outcome prior to the full application. If any questions should arise please feel free to contact 800-859-3112. The product does not oxidize (change color) until developer is added- as with all permanent hair dyes.

I have medium brown hair will using the chrome with a 30 vol developer all i need tp achieve the greyish/siLver chrome shade if so how long do i leave on b4 washing

Asked by: LadyLeeash
Hi, I actually tried going from med brown to chrome as well! However, I bleached it first with a 30 Vol developer and that was quite enough to get to the pale yellow hair color that is needed to deposit the grey pigment on the hair. I think that would take around 2 bleaches so the chrome color will actually stay in the hair. You should watch this YouTube video called “$20 dollar black to silver hair transformation at home, bleach and dye [ENG]. They use this exact chrome color so it might be helpful!  *** edit*** 1 bleach session was not enough for me because I have previously dyed my hair a cola brown. Hope this helps!

If I have black hair is there any way this black cherry will work on my hair?

I have ion midnight blue black in my hair currently! If i wanted black cherry by ion what would i have to do to get it that color? like would i have to bleach it or just use a high developer?

Asked by: Sommer33
If it was me changing just the overtones from blue to black cherry, I would use at least the 30 volume ION Develope but i would also just use one ounce with a 15 vollume developer. I can't promise you it will work on your hair for I don't know the consistency or if it is fine like I have or course. Everything you do to your hair depends on all factors of your hair at the time of recoloring. There are so many factors involved. If I wasn't real sure, I would ask a professional colorist. You can always call and ask one what vollume or vollumes to use. There is a super way to find out by contacting a Cosmetology School in your area! Be sure to ask to speak to the instructor of colorist. I have found that Sally does not hire them. They are all regular people. If you choose to ask a Sally rep, find one that has been with them for awhile! I hope I helped. Good luck in your experience! I hope it turns out beautiful!

I'm African American and the only chemicals i use in my hair are colors to cover the gray. But, i also take different medications. If i want my color to be burgundy or deep plum, it always turned red gold within a couple of weeks. Help

Asked by: MzRandi50
I have great experience with ion color sealer conditioner. After dying, I prince and apply the sealer for a few minutes and rinse. Next time I wash my hair, use color treated shampoo, in makes one. Then use sealer like before and once do this every time you wash your hair. The sealer locks in the color. I go 3 months without dying and only my roots show. I have 60% gray but 0% after dying. I am a wild thing so I use ion permanent intensive shine colors. Sapphire, purple, midnite blue black, teal, etc. This granny may be old but her hair rocks!!! Best wishes

Is Chrome a light grey or a dark grey shade?

Asked by: Brie1199
It is a light greyish color. My hair was a medium brown when I used it and it came out fairly light, but I suspect if you have light hair it would be pretty light

Hair was done Chocolate and silver at salon. Of course silver washed out to platinum within two weeks. Will the chrome permanent dye color only the platinum ? Or will it also effect the brown?

Asked by: Tanya tyson
Firstly, I love the color combination. All hair color fades, I'm not surprised the silver faded to platinum in 2 weeks. Honestly, I'm not sure if the Chrome will effect the Chocolate. I'm thinking the Chrome has a blue or violet base which should not effect the Chocolate because I'm sure the Chocolate has either a natural base or a violet base to match the Silver. I'm a processed red head, I have difficulty keeping my color vibrant, also. Just remember that it doesn't matter to the rest of the world that our color fades, because even faded it still looks great. Only we can see the difference. Be carefull not to over process your hair. Roux has grey colors that you can put in your hair that wash out with 1 wash, if you wanted to liven up your silver color once it fades. Good Luck :)

How does it cover grey hair

The red I use initially covers it although it turns out a lighter shade. The "highlights" still look okay, but they only last about a week before the grey comes back in full force.

What vol developer should I use on bleached blonde hair if I want to use the shade chrome?

Asked by: 2ASNJHN6
20% if you want a darker look, I used a 30% cause My hair is a lighter color & when you have a lighter or blonde hair it does make it pop more. Just make sure you use the Ion hair protector when coloring. But if you bleached your hair you don't want to destroy it by over processing it. Ion hair protector is like Olaplex, it helps bond & color with out damaging your hair too much. So if you use a 30% to mix with the color it will drop the developer to about a 25% to 20%. Which in my opinion would be perfect

My hair is brownish red would this color my hair and not be red?

Asked by: Diann more
First of all, do you have grey hair?  If so, 25%, 50%, 75%, 100%?  This effects the decision of what formula to use.   If there is no grey, my recommendation would be to use the Ion Demi Permanent product:  mixing 3/4 N or Natural and 1/4 A or Ash of whatever level (dark/light) you want.
