Rated 1 out of 5 by from Awful results! I used Excellence 9 RB for many years and always received compliments on my hair color. When I found out it was being discontinued I bought 80 boxes. Well last month I used my last box and today I tried Preference GR9. Awful results my hair is red as can be without the beautiful light reddish blonde color. The "gel" was awful to apply and was runny. Why oh why did you discontinue the Excellence 9 RB? I am so disappointed...

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Salon Color After several bad run-ins at area salons, I went back to doing my own color. I found Superior Preference 5CB and was extremely pleased with the results. It is as close to my natural color that I can get and when I'm in the sunlight my highlights sparkle as those I was in my 20's again. Why do stylists think that the grey roots are the color they need to match? I am happy to be back with L'Oreal.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Wow, this is the worst at home coloring- EVER I purchased this in 8 1/2 champagne ash blond. I'll update once I wash this out, but right now, I'm still dealing with the fact that I have color dripping down my face, ruining my towels and clothes. This is crazy!! First of all, the color cream only had 2 inches of product in the bottle, and the actual color mix is pure liquid, not gel! That's why it's dripping everywhere! It's not even staying on my hair! I want my money back. This is insane, not a good experience, I'm scared to see what my hair is going to look like- I type as color is really starting to drip down my face. WOW

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Coverage This is the first time that I have used this product and I do have to say it is Best gray coverage I have had in a hair color. With other brands I can still see grays after finishing but after using this one I have found no grays. It is three days later and I still have not discovered any. I will definitely be buying this product again

Rated 1 out of 5 by from I chose a red shade and my hair is BLACK!!!!!!! I'm beyond upset. Beyond. My beautiful red shade I finally reached out is gone thanks to this product. I hate L'oreal forever. My hair was just washed out a bit since I had not colored my hair for 4 weeks and had no free time to go to the hair salon. I went to buy this shade that looked closer to the red I like, applied it and 25 minutes after my hair is black.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Yuck! I am so upset right now. I used L’Oréal preference ultra blonde. I had a dirty blonde look before using the hair color. Never had any grey. After following the instructions I now have the ugliest color hair ever. It looks like a a nasty gray. I’m horrified! I dye my own hair all the time and usually use L’Oréal Féria but thought I’d give this a try. Never again! It was so bad I had to recheck the bottles bc I could swear they were switched but nope just a horrible product!

What developer would you recommend for this color chocolate? I currently use coffee with developer 10 for roots because of gray and 40 for rest of my hair. Because I used to color my hair dark brown store bought box so it was dark.

What color would I get if I mix the coffee and the mocha together? And if I use coffee as the base and use the mocha for the hilights would that be pretty? I’m trying to decide what to do this is my first time using the mega browns!

I have platinum blonde/ white hair and dark brown roots. I want to do a caramel color overall . What filler should I use for the blonde ?

Asked by: Jenny Saccoccia
I decided to go Carmel as well. But my hair was red I had been coloring it red for years. So I stripped it with bleach and then I put the caramel on. The first month it wasn't as dark as I wanted it. But the second month to present it's been the perfect color for me. My advice to you depending on the color of your roots if they're not too dark you should be able to put the color caramel on it but I would definitely only use a 10 volume on the blonde because you only want to deposit. And make sure you condition condition condition.

I used to combine a cap full of the Mega Brown Truffle with 1oz of the #5 Neutral base Brown. I see you are not showing Truffle in my options is it discontinued? Which other color do you recommend to be similar to it from your Mega Browns all LOREAL.

Asked by: NVCosta5
I think Chocolate is probably a good substitute for the Truffle color.

Do i need more than this mix meaning can i use it alone or does it need to be mixed with another product. Carla

Asked by: Carla Sooma
You just need to mix it with a 10 or 20 vol developer, the ratio is 1:1.

What volume would I need to combine with the chocolate 10 or 20 I think it’s half color half volume for root coverage

Asked by: Tmeoster
I am 60 years old and have been coloring my hair for decades. I use 20 volume by L'Oreal and yes, I use equal parts of volume and color. I have found that mixing colors gives me the most natural look. Just pay attention to the undertones of each color if you decide to mix it up. In other words, I use two different colors and mix together, but they both have a golden/ red undertone, not ash undertones.

directions on box too small to read. Before touching up my roots can I use just 20V developer & color together or do I need something else too?

Asked by: sandy444
Just the 20 v developer if there is a lot gray to cover add some gray magic to the mix apply to roots after 20 minutes pull color through strands of hair develop for 5 more minutes and wash out see how it looks .if roots are too light you may have to add a cap full of a darker color to the mix
