ion Hair Color’s superior quality, proprietary blends are formulated in Italy by our expert team of chemists to deliver unparalleled results. ion's unique system combines the finest quality natural and exotic ingredients with powerful high-tech compounds to achieve exquisite, brilliant color with superior gray coverage. ion Hair Color science relies on the power of micro-pigmentation— ion's microscopic pigment molecules oxidize slower, allowing them to penetrate deep into the cortex of each hair strand for long-lasting, fade-resistant color.

Permanent brights provide bold, contemporary color that lasts. Unlock your hair’s true potential with Ion’s cutting-edge, salon-quality color science and bring home vibrancy like never before.

  • Apply on pre-lightened or highlighted hair, 1:1 mixing ratio. Two ounces of color to two ounces of 10 Volume ion Sensitive Scalp Creme Developer. Bowl and brush application is recommended. Always read the product packaging and inserts for complete directions, instructions, and warnings, and make sure to perform both the strand test and the patch test before applying your color.

If you have never colored your hair and you want to change your current hair color or you have not colored in 3 months or longer follow these steps:

    • Apply hair color mixture to dry, unwashed hair
    • Work gently through hair as you would a shampoo. Loosely pile hair on top of head
    • Process according to manufacturer’s directions. When processing time is complete, add a small amount of warm water to hair and work into lather
    • Rinse until the water runs clear.

If you color your hair every 4-6 weeks with a shade of similar tone and level follow these steps:

    • Make 1/4” partings throughout dry, unwashed hair
    • Apply mixture onto new growth area only, working from the front to the back of your head. Leave color on new growth area for 25 minutes. When processing time is complete, add a small amount of warm water to hair and work into lather
    •  Rinse until the water runs clear.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Fantastic color~ but does not last I'm on my 4th time redying my hair, have been doing so once a month and ABSOLUTELY LOVE the orchid color. It looks great at first but by the end of the month I have a faded pink look. I've tried washing once a week to see about lasting longer but didn't make a huge difference. The color bleeds no matter what color treated shampoo you use...I've tried about 6 now. I've used sealants conditioner after coloring and still quick fading, like a semi...but I still keep using it lol going to switch to coloring every 2 weeks and try that :)

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Temporary dye last longer I thought going with permanent dye would save me time in the long run but, I have done my daughters hair twice now and it just doesn't hold. I thought the first time might have been because we used foils since we were doing a few colors. So did it again with just one and no foils. And within a week even without washing her hair daily was completely gone. I'm going back to temporary dyes

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Stunning color I applied the color azure to pre-lightened hair. It turned out AMAZING! The color is absolutely stunning!! I do have to do another coat just to get some patchy spots but that is my own fault.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This stuff is great I am about 20% white hair with the rest of my hair dark brown. I use a 10 developer with no lift. Dye color is Sapphire. My white hairs turn blue and my browns turn almost black. I’m so thankful that they finally make my shade in permanent.

My niece wants her hair blonde with a silver patch. I am going to bleach her hair but I also ordered a toner. Should I use the toner after the bleach or after the silver has been completed? Does toner fade the color?

Asked by: Anonymous7245
Use the toner after the bleach & then add the silver

I use lots of fun colours and I find that using Ion after colour sealer, helps keep the colour longer.  Hope this helps.

So if my hair is Dark medium Brown will this color show?

If you are wanting just hint of color, yes. If you are wanting it to be as vibrant as it is on the box you will need to bleach your hair first.

I am doing my hair Radiant Orchard and do I just use the color or do I have to use a developer with it? My hair is short and all good hair with gray and some brown.

Asked by: dahat1992
If you want the color to be vibrant, especially with you having some brown hair, you will first need to do an all over bleach. After you've done your bleach, you will need to use the color with 10 vol developer. Make sure hair is completely dry after bleaching before adding color.

Does the magenta resemble the same magenta in the L’Oréal Hi color ?

Asked by: Ashleyisabel
It's similar but the hue is more intense and vibrant in my opinion. It also has a little bit more of a glossy shine and didn't dry out my hair as much.

Can’t two different colors be mixed together to make a new color?

Asked by: Anonymous
I always mix colors together, sometimes it works well together and sometimes you have to play around a little to get the correct color you want. You can even mix 3 colors. Just start off with a little of each at first, just in case you don't like it you won't waste too much

Do I have to pre-lighten my hair for these?

Asked by: Charandken
My hair was lightened before hand, but these pigments also penetrate and have staying power. After using fuchsia, it took me bleaching my hair to get the color out. Flamingo was a great color, too. My experience is all about trial and error. It’s color, have fun with it.

If I have dark black ish blue hair and I would like to change my whole head to the titanium what would I have to buy and use to make it come out good?

Asked by: Lacey1121
you would need to bleach your hair. since your hair is so dark, you’ll need to do multiple sessions of bleaching first so you don’t completely fry your hair. space out the sessions and use lots of deep conditioner. if your hair is feeling unhealthy, it is. so give it a rest before you do more. eventually you’ll get it light enough.

What developer is needed?

Asked by: Krista123
It depends on how damaged your hair is, if you just bleached it I recommend a 20 developer so your hair doesn’t get even more damaged, but if your hair isn’t damaged then it’s safe to use a 40 developer

I have medium to dark hair. I want to use ion but use radiant orchid or a blue. Can I use a level 30 or 40 developer rather than bleaching or lightening it?

Asked by: Queenb4209
I have dark blonde/light brown hair with permanent red and using level 40 with the purple or blue showed as an undertone in certain lights but not much other than that. Still got a lot of compliments, but it wont be the same as if you bleach it first. Hope this helps.

Can I use a 30 volume developer with this? And if I can’t, is there a way to “dilute” or change the ratio so that I can use the 30 volume? Thank you :)

Asked by: fovvlxrr
You can definitely use a 30 if you're needing more color lifted from your hair :) otherwise you can mix a 30 with a 10 (make sure they're the same brand) to make a 20. Neat trick I learned in cosmetology :)

My hair is light blond & I want to use the lavender permanent. I've used the semi-permanent & was happy with the results. What number developer should I use?

Asked by: Susanw64
It's highly dependent on whether or not you need to lift anymore color out while depositing. You said you have light blond hair, so I would recommend using either a 10 if you don't need anymore color lifted, or a 20 if you need a little. Happy coloring!

The amount doesn't matter. Colors of this variety won't show up well, if at all on dark hair. You would have to bleach/lighten your hair to have any kind of result. Hope this helps :)
