Rated 1 out of 5 by from Incomplete order Was only sent 3 midnight violet products. The 4th was a completely different product of a different color (not midnight violet or similar), probably meant for someone else wanting a burnt orange color.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from good coverage i blended the plum with midnight violet, over my previously bleached, rose gold hair with 2" roots. i ended up with solid coal black hair. there isn't even a slight plum or purple hue. not even in bright lighting. i will say it gave very good, even coverage, especially with the 2 completely different colors & condition my hair was prior. very simple to mix & apply, & didn't seem to do any noticeable damage to my hair. not even close what i was expecting it to be, though. i see a color fix in my very near future.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from LOVING THE PLUM I’ve had light hair with highlights/lowlights for quite a few years and I impulsily wanted to try something different. Before I did a new color, my hair was an ashy blonde with a brown base. I chose to go with the Plum - 4VV. I was advised to use 2 of these with 1 bottle of 20 developer by an employee so that it will grab better and I have long/thick hair. I’m glad she said that as she was totally right! Once I washed it all out and my hair was dry, it was very dark for my preference, but then again I had to get used to going feom very light to a darker tone completely. Its been 3 days now, and I’ve washed it only wash the Ion After Color Sealer Conditioner and I am so happy with the results! The “very dark” tones are coming out from my base as I wash my hair and I can see so much plum in my hair inside/outside and it’s just such a beautiful color! I’m very saitisfied with this different color and I get many compliments on it. Definitely loving the plum!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Hardly fades, no damage I have thick stubborn hair, this red dye stays in for 8 weeks before you notice a change in color. Doesn’t turn my hair orange and little to no damage! Just follow the instructions. I mix 1 full tube of radiant raspberry (5RV) with 1 full tube of plum (4VV) I use 30 volume developer with the absolute perfection booster step 1. Perfection.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I Love it! I have tried other brand reds and normally on the second wash the color looks dulled and shine, I also have sensitive scalp. I decided to try ION reds hair color as it claims to be sensitive to the skin I went ahead and tried it and guess what?! I LOVED it!!! It is sensitive to my scalp, the reds stay bright after several washes and.... it does not fade like other brands. I highly recommend it!! I currently have on the radiant raspberry and use it with ion 30 developer. But I have tried ALL their red tones and love them all...

How much of the developer 10 do I put in with the hair color I didn’t get the instruction with it an I am just make sure that I am right 1oz please get back with me thank you

Asked by: Melanie69
I also got a box with warnings on one side and blank on backside of page where instructions should have been. Im thinking this is level 4 so use 10 vol peroxide to deposit. The mixed product is pink. Praying it turns a darker color or this will be a total waste of time . I'm really disappointed in ION on this one. I had been using demi vivid violet 6vv. It had been over a year since I used permanent color and thought this would bring some gloss back. I'm waiting for it to process and assuming it will be about 45 min. The 1 800 number is not available. I already mixed it .

i’ve been using the radiant raspberry one for over a year now and instead of using a 20 developer.... will the 40 make it a little bit brighter or?

Asked by: jen0610x
40vol will trash your hair! It will melt it. It is typically used for people with really resistant hair, for example Asians and African Americans. It should be handled by a Pro otherwise. 30vol will help lift color more than 20, so it will make it brighter. However, you still need to keep a super close eye on it, as it is very damaging as well.

Died hair using ion think dark brown want to add ion demi intense violet highlight had me get 10vl developer. Tried once never seeing any violet or purple. Do I need something else or just try again been over a week since all over color

Asked by: acstaind
You must use bleach if you want an intense color result on dark hair especially w/semi-permanent &/or demi-permanent hair color. I've used Intense Violet on hair lightened to level 8 (I'm naturally level 2) & used demi-permanent color w/only 5vol. developer which resulted in bright violet hair. I've lightened my hair w/only vol.15 developer(Blonde Brilliance) w/Ion Creme Oil Lightener. Don't be afraid of bleach. Just don't skip the strand test or never leave on for more an 1hr. Most importantly, never use developer strength above 30 vol. Personally, I've never used any developer above 25 vol. (Blonde Brilliance) & achieved platinum blonde/level 10 w/only 1 application.

This color is darker so it will cover but I'm not sure what Color it will turn out. You might have to do it a couple of times. Also you should use 20 developer.

I use the 4VV plum color but it fades within 2 weeks. I use the 20 developer and I leave it on for about 30-45 minutes. What can help to prevent from fading faster than usual?

Asked by: Illianahr
a little late to the game here but based on my experiences: You can try using an after colour seal, and if you wash your hair in warm to hot water, try to keep it as cool as possible. Some shampoos/conditioners will help with the fading of colours, even help boost it. When all else fails consult instore. :)

How can I make this color brighter?

Asked by: Meme Scott
There shouldn't be any reason to use a 40vol with this product @ home. Pick a different color first. 40vol should be used for bleach on stubborn hair in small sections, by experienced home users lol.. unless you want to melt your hair.

I hve 1 tube of 4vv plum & 1 tube of 1v-12 jet black with 10 developer. If I mix the 2 tubes with the developer & apply to my hair will it be just black or will you be able to see the plum as well & if I use 1 full 2oz tube how much developer do I add??

Asked by: VikingBeauty8688
First make sure that the dyes you are using need developer. Some do not. You just put on your hair and wait 30 to 45 minutes. Otherwise I would use all of the plum with only 1/3 to 1/2 the tube of jet black and then 1/2 developer. Too much jet black and you won't be able to see the plum very well.

I did the radiant raspberry and within 2 weeks most of the color has faded out completely with only washing a handful of times, loved the color what should I do?

Asked by: Xtina2018
Wash your hair no more than every 3 days.  Be sure to treat with a after color conditioner to lock in hair color.  Rinsing with cool instead of warm water helps also.  I have been using this color for about 6 months on my dark brown almost black hair.  I used 30 developer and my hair looks dark brown with a red/purple tint....until i am in the sunlight and WOW the Raspberry color is incredible!  I get compliments anywhere i go in the sun or under lighting in a bar or club.  This week i am going to lift the color a bit so i get a brighter more intense raspberry.  But love this stuff!

You can add an ion violet intensifier permanent hair color additive to your dye. It helps out alot. Just make sure you read the instructions and use the appropriate ion developer. It works great for me. Hope that helps out.

I tried the midnight blue black and used it straight from the tube. When I put it on it was real thick and hard to get into some places. Now is it supposed to come out white from the tube and is there something I'm missing cause I washed it out after 15

Asked by: Roger Rod
You need to mix it with developer. I use 20 developer. The color out of the tube could be white...i didn't use midnight blue black. Adding the developer will help with the thickness and help manager it in your hair. I would then leave it in longer then 15 min. I normally go for 45 but I havnt used that color and everyone's hair is different.

How long did it take for the color to quit pouring out of hair when you washed it? And how long did the color last?

Asked by: Amber1121
i used the midnight violet black. even after having it in for maybe a month and a half (so maybe 15 plus washes, with regular shampoo) it STILL rinses with pinkish water. at least slightly. i know lots of people do the "rinse til it's clear" thing, but that has just not ever happened with this color. maybe with a sulfate free shampoo it would rinse clear eventually. as for how long it lasts... i notice it lighten a little literally every time i wash it until it changed from an almost black purple to medium wine-ish brown. so the red/purple tone does stick around, but the darkness of the shade does lighten significantly. may be better to go darker brown first before doing this color. idk.

If you are looking for a semi-permanent, most any product will do. If you are looking for something that lasts more then a few washings try Ion Permanent in plum with 20 volume peroxide. It will slowly fade to a reddish/plum color but start out more purple.
