  • 1:1 mixing ratio. Two ounces of color to two ounces of 10, 20, 30 or 40 Volume ion Sensitive Scalp Creme Developer. High Lift Blonde series is mixed 1:2 ratio: Two ounces of color to 4 ounces of 30 or 40 Volume Ion Sensitive Scalp Developer. Bowl and brush application is recommended. Always read the product packaging and inserts for complete directions, instructions, and warnings, and make sure to perform both the strand test and the patch test before applying your color.

If have never colored your hair and you want to change your current hair color or you have not colored in 3 months or longer follow these steps: Apply hair color mixture to dry, unwashed hair • Work gently through hair as you would a shampoo. Loosely pile hair on top of head • Process according to manufacturer’s directions. When processing time is complete, add a small amount of warm water to hair and work into lather • Rinse until the water runs clear.

If you color your hair every 4-6 weeks with a shade of similar tone and level follow these steps: Make 1/4” partings throughout dry, unwashed hair • Apply mixture onto new growth area only, working from the front to the back of your head. Leave color on new growth area for 25 minutes. When processing time is complete, add a small amount of warm water to hair and work into lather • Rinse until the water runs clear.

Other tips: Always perform a strand and patch test • It is often not necessary to refresh the ends of the hair on every permanent hair color touch-up application • For resistant gray, use 20 Volume ion Sensitive Scalp® Creme Developer and apply to gray area first • Apply a stain barrier cream around the hairline prior to application when using dark shades • Choose a lighter shade than desired if you are unsure of which shade to use or if you have very few gray hairs • Use an old towel to protect your clothing

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My "go to" natural color! I've been using the ION permanent color for years, and as the years passed, I went a shade at a time lighter. I'm now using 8G, Light Golden Blonde with a 10 developer, and I get many compliments about my shiny hair with all the highlights! My hair stays soft and healthy, and the color grows out without the dreaded "roots". I can't say that everyone will have the same experience, as my hair is light now, and so is the color. But the qualities that keep me using ION is the quality, the natural shades, and the natural feel of my hair.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from It’s okay. But I’m not excited. Not ash, but not a bad color. I bleached my hair to a 10 and then put the color on. It turned my hair golden blonde. Not ash blonde. Actually quite disappointed as I despise gold and brass tones. However it did color my hair nicely as far as the overall process goes. The color was just way off.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Smitten! As a former stylist who has tried a LOT of product...this gives me the easiest and most gorgeous natural light blonde ( NO TONING!) in 45 minutes. I have a pixie, so require root touch up every 2 weeks or so. Can put this on entire head and get even results on new AND old growth. Zero grabbing on porous hair, and beautiful neutral light blonde on my dark roots. Hair feels silky. Game changer for me. And to think I literally just tried this on a whim!

It comes out sooo soft and used along with the Ion products I am able replicate my $120 every 3-4 salon look for considerably less and I did it myself! Thank you Ion and Sally! Be sure to follow all the steps precisely and don't over process!! Be patient and you'll get the same perfect color and look I did

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Highlift Blonde Seriously the best highlift color I have ever used. HL/B, with 40V developer and Ion absolute perfection step 1 booster. Natural level is a 6, I had about an inch of regrowth, and the length was 3 month old 6N box dye (dang covid) followed by a full head of highlights (not super bright) done when the salons opened June 8th. I now have the most beautiful light blonde hair that is brass free with no damage. Just do a strand test first to view your results, I was seriously impressed. Thank you Ion!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from PPD free I love that this color is ppd free and it has great coverage if you dont have resistant greys to cover, i noticed it didnt cover my greys as well as the AGbeautiful. The color is amazing thoughand the shine lasts until your next coloring. Also the consistency of the mix when developer is added is thicker than i am used to, but its still pretty easy to work with.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from ABSOLUTELY horrible. I bought three boxes and after bleaching my hair with products I also bought from Sally’s, my hair came out two completely different colors along with my natural hair color somehow. I spent hours and did everything right. Bought lavender and got dark purple and light blue.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not permanent Not sure what’s permanent about it. Washed out after a couple washes. Hair is now dark brown at best. Hair hadn’t been dyed in 2+ years before this so there was all virgin hair under the parts that are now dark brown.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Finally found a product that works! Excellent color, good lift for dark hair with the 30 vol developer. Finally found a color that works with my dark hair that has a lot of red undertones. I used this color with 30 volume gentle developer, for 45 min. The result is wonderful and my hair is not dry. I will be using this going forward.

Does the hi lift cool blonde lighten the hair or is it more of a toner? For example, my hair is between a level 5 and 6, would this be able to lighten my hair up to a 10 with this dye and 40 volume developer or should I lighten it first?

Asked by: Gabrielle17
Oh Lord, please don't attempt to use 40 volume on your own! That is extemely strong and will lift FAST - this is what they use on thick, Asian hair. If you have fine hair you'll want to not go any higher than a 20-volume. I use no higher than 15-volume on my fine, dark brown hair these days. 20 volume will give me hot roots quickly. If you have thick hair, try 20. You can always do it again if it doesn't go light enough. Hair closest to the root will lift a lot faster and higher than the rest as well, so if you have more than a half inch of roots than do the lower part first, then the rest of the roots in the last 15 minutes. Or just use a lower developer. You can dilute your developer with water (if water-based), or coconut oil (if oil-based) to lower it, or just mix 20 volume and 10 volume together in equal parts for 15 volume. Diluting your developer with equal parts water or oil will half the lift (so if you bought 40-volume, use one scoop developer and one scoop water and you'll have 20 volume instead). Hope it helps!

My hair is very fine and takes color really well. Ten volume developer lifts my hair. Knowing that, would it most likely be ok to use 10 volume developer with level 9 color for my naturally light hair?

Asked by: annambur
Yes absolutely. Now could someone tell me are brick-and-mortar stores open are they open typical hours or have they shortened them like many brick and mortar stores?

Am I able to lighten black virgin hair to a brown with this dye? I would need to use 20 volume developer correct?

Asked by: Nat25714
You should use a 40 developer & its better to buy hair colour specific for dark hair like Loreal Hicolor

I have dyed dark red hair and want to do light blonde highlights but my hair doesn't take blonde very well. What would the be the best color dye (and process without bleach) for me to get the results I want?

Asked by: LadySilver
You would get the best results from using a lightener for blonde highlights. There are several lightening kits that you could shop from and use that are specifically made to create highlights.

I’m currently at between a level 9 and level 10, and I’m looking to get toward a level 12, I’m wondering what color or toner would work the best for me. Thank you in advance

Asked by: Nicoleeo
If you are already a 9-10 in this selection, and are using a 20 volume developer, you can use one of the High-lift colors (indicated by HL in the product name). Then you can choose what tone you are interested in having either Ash (B), Neutral (N), Gold (G) or Cool (V).
