  • 1:1 mixing ratio. Two ounces of color to two ounces of 10, 20, 30 or 40 Volume ion Sensitive Scalp Creme Developer. High Lift Blonde series is mixed 1:2 ratio: Two ounces of color to 4 ounces of 30 or 40 Volume Ion Sensitive Scalp Developer. Bowl and brush application is recommended. Always read the product packaging and inserts for complete directions, instructions, and warnings, and make sure to perform both the strand test and the patch test before applying your color.

If have never colored your hair and you want to change your current hair color or you have not colored in 3 months or longer follow these steps: Apply hair color mixture to dry, unwashed hair • Work gently through hair as you would a shampoo. Loosely pile hair on top of head • Process according to manufacturer’s directions. When processing time is complete, add a small amount of warm water to hair and work into lather • Rinse until the water runs clear.

If you color your hair every 4-6 weeks with a shade of similar tone and level follow these steps: Make 1/4” partings throughout dry, unwashed hair • Apply mixture onto new growth area only, working from the front to the back of your head. Leave color on new growth area for 25 minutes. When processing time is complete, add a small amount of warm water to hair and work into lather • Rinse until the water runs clear.

Other tips: Always perform a strand and patch test • It is often not necessary to refresh the ends of the hair on every permanent hair color touch-up application • For resistant gray, use 20 Volume ion Sensitive Scalp® Creme Developer and apply to gray area first • Apply a stain barrier cream around the hairline prior to application when using dark shades • Choose a lighter shade than desired if you are unsure of which shade to use or if you have very few gray hairs • Use an old towel to protect your clothing
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Meets expectations! I bought the medium ash brown last week because I wanted a new look and I loved it. It’s so hard to find the perfect shade but this color I love it truly meets my expectations in every way.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Would recommend this for someone who wants dark!! I really liked this creme color, I refuse to use he liquid anymore! The only downfall was it was about 2 shades darker than I expected. It honestly almost looks black.. but I really like it because I don’t mind dark hair but if your going for a lighter brown I wouldn’t recommend this one. It is beautiful though and made my hair incredibly soft and shiny!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great color creme for blondes Works great on my shoulder length thick hair. Plenty of creme color in 1 tube to do my hair twice. Make sure the tube is room temperature or it won't mix well.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Nah... I gave it 2 stars because it does produce the color advertised. However it washed out after the second wash. It is not permanent by any means. I have given this product a fair chance, but after the 4th time of the same results, I have made my decision to not use this product anymore.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very good product! I’ve been using this at home for many years. Easy to use, no really bad odor. Good price. I am naturally a light-medium brown (w/grey roots growing like weeds.) I use 7N medium blonde as the result when finished, is closest to my natural color. The light browns are far too dark results. I love it and I wish they would make a stick in exact same shade for in between coloring.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Stays true to color I have used this hair color for a few years now. It's great, true to color, and lasts.

I need a good ash medium brown in a cream, what brand do you recommend?

Asked by: Christina78
Age beautiful has best gray coverage. If you don’t need gray coverage then the Argon oil color line is more hydrating and gives a beautiful shine.

I find the hair color fades really fast. I think it would help if I didn't shampoo right after coloring. Even though the directions say to shampoo after, do you know if you can just rinse really well instead?

Asked by: Andrea64
III don't think it would rinse out well enough to not get on your towels, sheets, clothes, etc. You are using the permanent cream hair color, correct? I have grey hair that grows very fast so I have to do my roots every two to two and a half weeks.

Can I mix the cream color with the liquid color (both in same shade) to thicken it up a bit? It looks like the liquid formula changed a bit and is runnier. I'm afraid using only cream would be too thick for bottle application. Thanks!

Asked by: ColorGal
I use bottle application, and I just mixed creme and liquid color and it worked great.

My hair is currently a dark blonde. But I want to dye it a natural red/little copper. Can I mix Ion Color Brilliance  4R, 4N, 6IR and hot red intensifier to achieve this?

Asked by: Lmarriott1129
I would not recommend this combo for a natural copper red. That will be fairly dark and auburn toned, perhaps even leaning toward burgundy. My experience with the red intensifier is that it is very purple toned and washes out quickly. Try 8rc, 7rc, and 8a for a natural copper base. Add some 6r to make darker and more vibrant.

Last time i dyed my hair was about a year and a half ago and i got balayage done which was blondish . Well now since its been a while my natural black hair is back and i want to dye it blondish/brownish . What color should i use and what developer?

Asked by: Vdlrms88
I have naturally black hair with grey in it. i only know this because of the grow out. I use 9a very light ash blonde permanent color. if you feel you are not that dark and don't need very light ash blonde (the ash will help the hair not look red), then try ash blonde. have a toner on hand in case it's too stark. always use a 40 developer to lift, meaning going lighter from a dark natural base. hope this helps

Hi, I’m a 6N in the Ion brand and was thinking about going to a 5N what would happen to my hair going lighter with the color?

Asked by: valleygirl19
If you were going from a 6N to a 5N you would actually be going a level darker in hair colour, hope that helps!
