  • 1:1 mixing ratio. Two ounces of color to two ounces of 10, 20, 30 or 40 Volume ion Sensitive Scalp Creme Developer. High Lift Blonde series is mixed 1:2 ratio: Two ounces of color to 4 ounces of 30 or 40 Volume Ion Sensitive Scalp Developer. Bowl and brush application is recommended. Always read the product packaging and inserts for complete directions, instructions, and warnings, and make sure to perform both the strand test and the patch test before applying your color.

If have never colored your hair and you want to change your current hair color or you have not colored in 3 months or longer follow these steps: Apply hair color mixture to dry, unwashed hair • Work gently through hair as you would a shampoo. Loosely pile hair on top of head • Process according to manufacturer’s directions. When processing time is complete, add a small amount of warm water to hair and work into lather • Rinse until the water runs clear.

If you color your hair every 4-6 weeks with a shade of similar tone and level follow these steps: Make 1/4” partings throughout dry, unwashed hair • Apply mixture onto new growth area only, working from the front to the back of your head. Leave color on new growth area for 25 minutes. When processing time is complete, add a small amount of warm water to hair and work into lather • Rinse until the water runs clear.

Other tips: Always perform a strand and patch test • It is often not necessary to refresh the ends of the hair on every permanent hair color touch-up application • For resistant gray, use 20 Volume ion Sensitive Scalp® Creme Developer and apply to gray area first • Apply a stain barrier cream around the hairline prior to application when using dark shades • Choose a lighter shade than desired if you are unsure of which shade to use or if you have very few gray hairs • Use an old towel to protect your clothing
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Horrible on line ordering. Product is the best ever but it is not what I received or ordered. I received a totally different product in a tattered box. I have never been able to get through on phone line even after waiting at least an hour on hold. Totally disappointed in on line ordering. Second order not correct either with no explanation.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Worst Online Experience Ever. I'd give it no stars if I could, I signed up for updates that I never got had to dig to get any updates at all, either someone stole my package or it never got delivered considering it was delivered at 9pm and I wasnt notified AT ALL. no knock or anything telling me it was delivered. Pretty upset. Won't be doing that again.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not a good representation of the color. My hair doesn’t resemble the color on the box. We used the proper amount of developer. I’m a little bummed. Even as it was applied, it looked brown.

What developer is recommended?

Asked by: Coco74923
For light blonde use 40 developer in a 2:1 ratio, for example 2 ounces of developer and one ounce of color.

I have been using Color brilliance permanent cream hair color in light brown and using sensitive skin 20 developer. It always turns out too dark. If I used 30 developer, would it be light brown? My natural color is medium to dark brown.

Asked by: Jan 4521
Don't use 30 V it will cause to much lift and probably a more orange tone. You need to move the color number higher. Example: If you are using 5N change to 6N .

Do i need a developer or can i just use water ? Really trying to avoid the developer

Asked by: Gisselle brizuela
If you are concerned about reactions to the developer, I always have an itchy head for weeks after other brands but this one I have no issues with. I use the 10 with jet black and darkest brown and I have VERY resistant gray and it covers extremely well. I recently started adding the "Sensitive Scalp Protector" but only because I saw it at the store and figured it couldn't hurt.

I normally use light brown natural drug store color. I want to switch to something better. I find creams easy to use. If I purchase the light brown with a 20 developer will that work? I have gray roots. Do I have to use a corrector first? So confused!

Asked by: Piper145
Yes that should work. You might have a slight line from drugstore color and roots, switching to a new one. But not likely. You shouldnt need to correct at all. Just do a good shampoo and strip any old color out that you can. I love Ions sensitive scalpformula. Truly is non does little damage, and doesnt make my scalp itch or hurt.

What is the best toner to buy with Ion permanent hair color products?

Asked by: Blueeyes60
I like the ion sentive scalp formula. Developer level depends on what color you want. 10 for little lift. All the way to 40, which is mega lift. 4 shades lighter. For blonde, for bright colors on dark hair, etc. Dark colors dont need a high level

How long do I leave it in?

Asked by: Brookemt13
I leave mine in for 30 minutes. I start my timer right after I’ve put on the last bit of mixed color/developer.
