  • 1:1 mixing ratio. Two ounces of color to two ounces of 10, 20, 30 or 40 Volume ion Sensitive Scalp Creme Developer. High Lift Blonde series is mixed 1:2 ratio: Two ounces of color to 4 ounces of 30 or 40 Volume Ion Sensitive Scalp Developer. Bowl and brush application is recommended. Always read the product packaging and inserts for complete directions, instructions, and warnings, and make sure to perform both the strand test and the patch test before applying your color.

If have never colored your hair and you want to change your current hair color or you have not colored in 3 months or longer follow these steps: Apply hair color mixture to dry, unwashed hair • Work gently through hair as you would a shampoo. Loosely pile hair on top of head • Process according to manufacturer’s directions. When processing time is complete, add a small amount of warm water to hair and work into lather • Rinse until the water runs clear.

If you color your hair every 4-6 weeks with a shade of similar tone and level follow these steps: Make 1/4” partings throughout dry, unwashed hair • Apply mixture onto new growth area only, working from the front to the back of your head. Leave color on new growth area for 25 minutes. When processing time is complete, add a small amount of warm water to hair and work into lather • Rinse until the water runs clear.

Other tips: Always perform a strand and patch test • It is often not necessary to refresh the ends of the hair on every permanent hair color touch-up application • For resistant gray, use 20 Volume ion Sensitive Scalp® Creme Developer and apply to gray area first • Apply a stain barrier cream around the hairline prior to application when using dark shades • Choose a lighter shade than desired if you are unsure of which shade to use or if you have very few gray hairs • Use an old towel to protect your clothing

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love this product I literally went to Sally’s and bought this line of hair color today, I went from a blonde to a redhead with the light blonde burgundy with a developer 10. They have so many colors to chose from also. My hair feels really nice and it didn’t damage it at all.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Damages your hair immensely It’s not worth all the damage and breakage. Drug store brands are TEN times better than this.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from 7G medium I used a combination of 10 and 40 sensitive developer and got the lift I had hoped out of my light brown hair. It’s more orange than I had hoped for, but am also hopeful that the orange will fade after a few washes.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not sure what happened I’m not sure what the problem was, maybe it’s normal for Ion brand, the color would not mix with the developer. I had to mix (mash together) with my gloved hand to get it to mix. It turned out alright, darker than the color I had and was hoping to go just a little bit lighter but all in all it’s colored and it’s covered well

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Where's the "Brown"? Not really what I expected...compared to the other level 5 brunette shades, this one is lacking in depth and dimension. It really just looks orangey red. I bought it thinking it would be similar to 5WR (the mocha line), but with a bit more red, but it's nothing like it at all. Think "Ronald McDonald", and you've got the idea. If it's meant to be a red shade, they should take the word "brown" out of the name.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Black Friday shopping I love this product. But shopping on the website was a let down. My order was cancelled with no explanation. Which is discouraging since I had placed my order for the Black Friday sale.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Product Gave Me Excellent Results! ION gave my hair the look of salon coloring. I am not a licensed beautician but I found it very easy to work with .Now it is the only color I buy.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from 3n=black I bought 3n and used 10 Vol developer over highlighted hair. My hair is naturally a level 5. The 3n is marketed as a dark brown, however it is nearly black in most lighting. I’d recommend going 1 to 2 shades lighter than you think if you’re going darker.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from 6R Dark Red "Blonde" I usually use this to color my hair, and have never had any problems. However, I tried a new shade 6R Dark Red Blonde. It's not blonde at all! It's super dark, and violet based. Not blonde at all. For a level 6 it's really dark. I think next time I will try 7RC. Aside from this funky darker color, I do really like these products. I just think this shade name is misleading.
Date published: 2019-12-02
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Very Disappointed I used 7RR on my hair, and it was a beautiful color. Then, I washed my hair. The color on the new growth washed out after 1 wash; I had a few layers of red from previous color that the pigment grabbed onto, for a few more washed. I was surprised that the color washed out of my new growth in one wash, I'm a hair dresser and have never seen that happen before.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from 8N light blonde This color was darker than I thought. 8n light blonde is actually brown. If mixed with a blonde dye, it would probably be fine.

What is the best products to get and use to achieve the blondest platinum color possible

Asked by: Babygirl7107
I am on the darker tones, so I can't help with that one, but I do find that mixing 2 different colors gives more depth & achieves a more natural look. I believe that's important no matter what tones you are looking for.

Will the ion 5n pull red , that usually happens when I use light brown..only I usually use 6n

Asked by: Robyns57
Yes, 5n still carries the red pigment. The "n" means neutral, so it just calms the red pigment down. If you don't want red, get a color that has 5na. The "a" is ash pigment, which is green and in return cancels the red pigment. Hope this helps. Happy coloring.

I have a lot of gray, extremely curly dark browblack hair would like to make 1 shade lighter what can I use

Asked by: MerciOne
When I want to a just a little lighter and don't want to use full lightener I pick the color and use a 30 or 40 volume developer (depending on how porous your hair is) I recommend using Ion after color to close the shaft and heavy conditioning mask.

Can this be used to lighten previously lightened hair That was done over a month ago? My hair still has too much gold, almost orangey tones.

Asked by: BlueEyes24
Did you tone your hair first? A toner should have taken out the gold/orange.
