Waterworks Permanent Powder Hair Color contains no harsh peroxides or ammonia. It is great for relaxed or chemically treated hair and gives beautiful true-to-life color. This powder hair color is long-lasting and leaves hair smooth and silky. Waterworks Permanent Powder Hair Color works on beards and mustaches too!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I always come back My favorite thing to use as a reverse on frosted hair when it becomes to bleachy. I hav returned to this time and time again after using other products with bleach even the no amonia ones. I get no red brassiness with this. So easy. True I wish there were other colors to choose. I hav learned over the years less is more. It grabs fast and dark on my hair any ways. I use the light natural brown (still plenty dark) adjust the time or the water used. Full stength and time is dark. So after learning my lesson for the the umteen time I am on the hunt for this product again as I am out!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Water Works Hair Color is Effective I am allergic to all hair color except Water Works. Thankfully it works better than all the hair color brands I have used in the past. I mix medium brown with light brown to achieve desired results.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best gray coverage ever Awsome product. I have naturally very dark ash brown hair with about 50% gray. This products covers all the gray and does not fade out. If you have dark hair with gray like me, try a light color, as it will not lighten the dark hairs, but turns your grays into highlights.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works just as good as Bigen and it's cheaper I have used both Bigen permanent powder hair color and Waterworks, and the result is exactly the same. The only difference is that Bigen has a slight rose like fragrance, but it is a dollar more expensive per box, and the result is exactly the same. You are just paying for a bit of fragrance as far as I'm concerned, and Waterworks smells just fine. I love this stuff!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Execllent for over a decade Having worked with color for so many years it was a wonderful surprise to find Water Works over a decade ago. It even works well on my own hair (Male here) and unlike so many colorants, if you chose an ash-shade, Water Works does not give you a brassy tone and does not strip hair (simply deposits color). While it is classified as a permanent color, I find it does fade very gradually but I actually see this as a positive since there is more of a natural progression of the shaft from somewhat colored ends to newer salt and pepper roots (rather than the stark contrast of deep dye right next to raw root). When the color has faded --after a month or so -- I use my own applicator-tip bottle to touch up the roots and after some time I apply some of the remaining mixture to the rest of the strands for a freshened-up look. The first time I used the product I used the entire amount for the full time in the instructions. The results-- though good--were much too dark for my needs. I've learned to adjust for this by using a shorter leave-on time (sometimes just 15 minutes for a touch-up) and I now choose a lighter shade than I would expect ( I buy Natural light brown to get a medium brown result). This product rates the highest I can give it and I hope it will forever be on the shelf.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Worked Surprisingly Well Let me start by advising that this shade in particular is extremely difficult to find, and is in high demand, so if you see it, buy it right away or by the time you're done thinking about it and decide to buy it, it may be gone. I called 3 different Sally's stores before I was able to find 2 boxes only, as they had run out even though they supposedly order every Thursday. The other 2 locations could not tell me when they'd have the blue black shade available. I used this product last night on top of my ColorSilk Darkest Black, as I had root growth and fading after about a month. This color did a good job so far of covering my grey roots without harsh chemicals. I was hoping for a deep blue black, like Wonder Woman's or Sabrina from the Archie comics, but instead ended up with a dark black, which is also pretty, and much darker than ColorSilk's, which is a plus. I guess the dye is supposed to look natural, so that is why the blue is almost non-existent, so if you're looking for a very blue sheen, this is probably not for you. This looks like the color of black that you would see on Asian women. I recommend using an applicator bottle instead of the recommended brush, as the bristles left stains all over my forehead and ears and it looks awful this morning at work; the applicator is faster and easier so I will make sure to use that next time. I have tried everything to get rid of the staining and nothing. I used vaseline, but this is in the middle of my forehead and I did not think the bristles would touch my forehead so I did not have vaseline in that area, and my efforts to immediately wipe the stain were in vain as this stains well. My nails are purple from shampooing as well, so beware and use gloves while in the shower! All in all, I am pretty happy with the results although I was hoping for a bluer shade without the bleach or developers (I guess that's not possible to achieve without the use of these though). This is a true jet black, more so than any of the drugstore dyes and is much less damaging to your hair (it's similar in color to Feria's discontinued Starry Night shade). My hair looks almost like a wig because it is so full of shine, even though I didn't even apply conditioner. Fading may be quick, but since this dye is so cheap, I will just re-dye it whenever my greys show and the fading occurs. Pricewise, this beats all drugstore dyes and is gentle enough to use, even on previously dyed hair. I am glad to be done with stinky dyes full of ammonia and peroxide that irritate my scalp and dry out my hair. Thanks WaterWorks!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from great coverage! I have searched for a long time to find a product that does not have alot of chemicals and covers the gray. This product not only covers the gray, but does not wash out like the other color products do! Just use good shampoo and conditioner that is gentle- without sulfates, and your hair stays so healthy! I am 52 with healthy hair- I believe this product has helped. Many women lose hair going through menopause. Stay away from chemicals as much as possible! You can mix 2 colors to get the one you need.

Could you mix this with Henna

Asked by: Eliza2121
I honestly do not know. I do know that henna is made from a plant only, and is semi-permanent. WaterWorks has a combination of ingredients. I do not know if the ingredients are natural or man-made. WaterWorks however is a permanent dye. It grows out. You can mix different colors for effect. What is it you are trying to achieve by mixing the 2 products?

What experience does anyone have using this to color a beard? My hubby is allergic to Just for Men and wants to color his, dark brown would be the color for him.

I don't have a beard.. but.. I would recommend going one shade lighter than the color your husband wants.

how is the permanent powder applied to hair and how long does it last?

Asked by: boo boo lw
I use a plastic bottle with a nozzle on it that I got for that purpose from a Beauty supply store for 0.99 cents.  Color It lasts about a month but I  think it depends on how often you shampoo your hair.
