Rated 5 out of 5 by from Skeptical at First But... Surely I didn’t think this dye would work out since so many have ‘failed’ my fine but resistant gray hair. I have been gray in some respects for the better part of 20yrs (lm 58) and have tried salons and most box (dyi) brands to no avail. But I didn’t see those temple grays poke out after 3 days with this product. As a matter of fact, my ultimate test was deep conditioning under a dryer for 30mins two weeks after application. No fading & No temple grays!! GOODBYE L’Oréal!!! PS: My color of choice is jet black.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I always come back My favorite thing to use as a reverse on frosted hair when it becomes to bleachy. I hav returned to this time and time again after using other products with bleach even the no amonia ones. I get no red brassiness with this. So easy. True I wish there were other colors to choose. I hav learned over the years less is more. It grabs fast and dark on my hair any ways. I use the light natural brown (still plenty dark) adjust the time or the water used. Full stength and time is dark. So after learning my lesson for the the umteen time I am on the hunt for this product again as I am out!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Water Works Hair Color is Effective I am allergic to all hair color except Water Works. Thankfully it works better than all the hair color brands I have used in the past. I mix medium brown with light brown to achieve desired results.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best gray coverage ever Awsome product. I have naturally very dark ash brown hair with about 50% gray. This products covers all the gray and does not fade out. If you have dark hair with gray like me, try a light color, as it will not lighten the dark hairs, but turns your grays into highlights.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works just as good as Bigen and it's cheaper I have used both Bigen permanent powder hair color and Waterworks, and the result is exactly the same. The only difference is that Bigen has a slight rose like fragrance, but it is a dollar more expensive per box, and the result is exactly the same. You are just paying for a bit of fragrance as far as I'm concerned, and Waterworks smells just fine. I love this stuff!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Execllent for over a decade Having worked with color for so many years it was a wonderful surprise to find Water Works over a decade ago. It even works well on my own hair (Male here) and unlike so many colorants, if you chose an ash-shade, Water Works does not give you a brassy tone and does not strip hair (simply deposits color). While it is classified as a permanent color, I find it does fade very gradually but I actually see this as a positive since there is more of a natural progression of the shaft from somewhat colored ends to newer salt and pepper roots (rather than the stark contrast of deep dye right next to raw root). When the color has faded --after a month or so -- I use my own applicator-tip bottle to touch up the roots and after some time I apply some of the remaining mixture to the rest of the strands for a freshened-up look. The first time I used the product I used the entire amount for the full time in the instructions. The results-- though good--were much too dark for my needs. I've learned to adjust for this by using a shorter leave-on time (sometimes just 15 minutes for a touch-up) and I now choose a lighter shade than I would expect ( I buy Natural light brown to get a medium brown result). This product rates the highest I can give it and I hope it will forever be on the shelf.

I've been using the medium brown for a while and it's pretty dark. Is the light brown true to color or is it dark too?

Asked by: ArianaA3
The light brown goes real dark on me.

Can it cover gray?

Asked by: Darlene Orosz
Yes it does, and well. Mine are very resistant to color, but with extended processing time (45 minutes) plus a touch up mid processing on the super grey areas, I get near 100% coverage.

Does this flake off little dry specks like the Bigen does?

Asked by: Jade1969
Yes, during use it does. After applying it, my stylist puts foils on top of my roots to keep it moist and less prone to flaking. Otherwise it dries out during processing time and flakes all over the place. No flaking after it's washed out though.

What is in this that makes it a permanent color?

Asked by: Diana1949
Sorry I don’t know what ingredient in the color makes it permanent.  It lasts about 8 weeks on my hair.  I use shampoo that is for color treated hair.  I don’t know if that qualifies for permanent or not.

if my hair is dark brown and want to cover the gray which color should i pick

Asked by: moody me
The color is somewhat darker than expected. I suggest you order medium brown to start with. You can always mix 2 colors to find the best shade for you.
