Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works as well as other semis, looks more natural! I naturally have dark brownish black hair but I started getting grays in my mid 20's. I'm in my early 30's and the gray is becoming much more noticeable, especially at the root level. Because my hair is so dark and my skin is so light, graying roots look like I have a seriously grown out dye job or worse, like my hair is thinning. I've been looking for a semi permanent soft black dye that wouldn't look totally unnatural with my coloring (very fair skin, hazel green eyes). I didn't want to go with a brand like Manic Panic or Arctic Fox because their blacks are more like a goth Black No. 1 which looks fine, but is definitely not a color you often see in nature, especially with my skint one. So when I came across this, I decided to give it a go. PROS: I love that the color didn't totally mask my natural hair color, which in blacks can look really fake and shoe polish-y. Instead it covered my grays and blended with my natural color which gave it a much needed vibrancy boost and looked multi-tonal and very natural. I wasn't going much darker than my real hair color, which I'm sure helps, and I was dying virgin hair. This might not be great if you are looking for a radical color change without lightening your hair first. I left it one for about an hour or so, it is a little runny but I just used a foil cap from the dollar store and it was fine. I also like that it is easy to use since there is no mixing like with permanent dyes and the container already has a tapered nozzle which I prefer over the squeeze bottle or tub packaging. I have a white bathroom so black dye can be a nightmare and other packaging styles are so messy, even with a dye bowl and brush. The smell was not strong and it did not cling to my hair, after I rinsed and used conditioner, you couldn't smell it at all. The first 2 or 3 times I showered, there was a noticeable amount of color coming off but it did not stain my skin while showering and it didn't have a negative impact on the color of my hair. It lasted about 4-6 weeks washing my hair every few days or so. I don't wash my hair every time I shower because it really dries out my hair and scalp and causes a lot of frizz. If you wash your hair daily and/or with really hot water, I don't see this lasting very long but the same could be said about all semi dyes. It's affordable, non-drying, and not much more difficult to use than any other dye, so dying frequently isn't a big deal for me. It also did eventually fade away completely which I like because I'd like to start dying my hair red once it is longer which is why I'm avoiding permanent black dyes. So I like that I will be able to change my color down the road without paying out the nose for a color correction at a salon. CONS: The formula was a bit on the runny side and it stained my scalp. I'm very fair and my skin stains easily, so others might not have that problem. The runny formula made it much easier to saturate every hair but it was harder to prevent drips and spills. Even though I was careful and laid down black towels, a bit did still get on my white sink counter which initially stained it. I used rubbing alcohol and a bleach cleaner but it hardly made a dent. After several weeks of cleaning my bathroom, it eventually faded away but it scared me at first. They pretty much only have 1 black shade. A lot of brands only create one or two blacks and usually they are blue based and very unnatural. While this did look natural, I've had better and more selection from other brands before. There's always several blondes and browns to choose from, but dark haired customers are so overlooked. It's disappointing. I also used this to dye my eyebrows which are also starting to get grays. I normally use an actual eyebrow dye which works great, but I was in a bind and decided to use this. It only lasted a week or so with consistent face washing and then my brows were back to grey. I have thick brows on the Brooke Shields bushy side, and the hair sheds a lot but I still noticed far better results with my typical brow dye. I think this just faded super fast as opposed to shed quickly. Like most semi permanent dye, it can come off in the water so if you swimming or caught in a rain storm, beware. OVERALL: I would recommend this if you aren't looking for a radical change and want something that will eventually wash out completely. It does a good job masking grays and blending with your natural color for a more realistic and multi-tonal look. The runny formula and staining power make this best suited for someone with experience dying their own hair. The color selection isn't great but if you are happy with a close approximation to the color on the bottle or are just looking to experiment, this is a great buy. Like many semi permanent dyes, if you have mid to dark hair I would leave this on for at least an hour. I have very short hair (a grown out pixie with some hair barely reaching my jaw line) and was able to get 2 uses out of this. If you have shoulder length or longer or just thick hair in general, you should probably buy 2 bottles. I wouldn't recommend this for dying anything other than the hair on your head, with my brows it washed right out. I'm still going to be experimenting with some other brands with a better color range like Wella, but if they don't work out I'll gladly go back to using this.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Didn't do anything for my hair I followed the instructions to a tee. Left the color on a little longer then it said to. Rinsed my hair, did not shampoo it out. I noticed absolutely no change. I was just trying to refresh my color in between colorings by using this. My regrowth was looking a little dull and I get a few little white hairs here and there as well, but this did not cover any of them or refresh my color. Very disappointed...
