Rated 4 out of 5 by from Moisturizing color I love this rinse. The colors are rich and moisturizing but they can fade after about 5 washes. The color is still there but it’s not as deep/rich as the first two weeks. I like the fact that they are dummy proof and can be applied without a professional. It came in handy during Covid-19! Everybody else was dying because they couldn’t get their hair colored but I was good to go! I would’ve given it 5 stars if the color didn’t fade so quickly.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Shop in store if you want the correct color Sallys sent me the wrong color and it’s been nearly a month, I’ve had no response and I can’t even return it because of quarantine! I went in store and bought the correct color and enjoyed it however the color doesn’t last too long and no matter how much I dye the front of my hair and use protein filler it remains light.

I’m looking for a neutral medium brown. What’s my best option. Thanks!

Asked by: Joyce Van
The dark brown is a true dark brown, but if you are looking for medium, go one color above the dark brown. Hope that helps!

When using this product, should my skin at the hairline be protected, if so how ?

Asked by: Pandemic solution
It is not necessary. When you rinse it out just rinse good around the EDGE of your hair on the skin with your finger not the hair edge.

Do you have jet black or midnight black in the clariol rinse for gray hair.

I do not think this color is available. I wish a blonder color was available, too, for my fading red hair. The red hair dye is too drastic for me. Good luck!

What shade of Clairol beautiful collection advanced gray solutions should I use if I want a lt. brown?

Asked by: DeeDee76
You will need to try some colors on your grey so you can find that hue that you want. I’ve tried different colors myself and the choices are not too many, I would recommend for you to experiment by mixing their colors until you find what you like.

my hair is jet black and grey! what can i do to avoid the weird tint i am left with on the grey when the color starts to wash out and fade?

Asked by: frankie63
I am a natural redhead and I have the same problem as red hair does not hold color well at all. That's why I use a semi-color - saves money on coloring. That being said, since you have natural black hair, I would use a permanent hair color as the color last longer. Other than that, I have no other tip for covering grey.

Is this product similar to the old Loving Care? I could use that without irritation, but have had a very difficult time finding a product which does not make me feel itchy.

Asked by: savannah7
Hi - yes, this is the successor to Loving Care. If you have a tendency to "itch", be sure to test it before using it on your whole head. Also, you may want to cut back a little bit on the time you leave it in. I generally go for 40 minutes; you might want to do 30-35. It only lasts about 2 weeks tops (depending on how often you wash).

My natural hair color is medium brown with slight undertones of auburn. I've been hiding my gray by dyeing it to be dark brown with warm red in it. Which semipermanent Advanced Gray Solutions Semi Permanent Hair Color should I use to hide my gray?

Asked by: portland20
I really wanted to cover grey where my hair meets my face. I did not want to use permanent color because of sensitive face skin. This product did not cover the grey and I have not found any semi permanent that covers the grey. I must use permanent even though I prefer not to use it. I am sorry - I wish the product worked but only permanent color truly covers grey for me.

what size developer do I need with the colorant?

Asked by: nancy423
This line doesn't use a developer, just apply from the bottle and let it sit. It's not permanent and washes out fast, but it's much more gentle and natural looking yet still covers grey well enough for me.

Will this (a dark brown color) work on over processed blonde hair? I have been having my hair highlighted. My hair had grown out and I wanted to change anyway and tried doing my own color highlights (disastrously). Like to go to original w/out peroxide.

Asked by: Carol Pr
Yes it will, but it slowly lightens the more you wash it.

Best color for dark blondes?

Asked by: Susan Pell
I suggest mixing Champagne with a few drops of honey brown to offset the possible brassy color. Champagne alone will not show up like the color example on the bottle. Also use a purple shampoo (shimmering lights) after to help with brassy... Hope this helps.

My hair is black but 65% grey. I want to cover the grey without it being that awful ashy color with new growth. I have been told not to get the Ash base but use a reddish base. Which color is best or do I need to mix the Black with something else.

Asked by: JPiccalo15
You’ve been advised correctly. Follow these instructions as are described here. I put a several drops of red in with the bottle black to achieve the best coverage for gray hair. This also prevents the green look as well, Good luck

Will this 100% wash out? Will this be safe to use while waiting in salons to reopen so I can have my hair highlighted again? Meaning is it safe to lighten on top of this color when I do go back.

Asked by: Boredinthehouse
This is a semi permanent haircolor, so it will wash out gradually. As far as coloring over it when you go back to the salon, I would say the advice would be the same as any other semi permanent color.

my hair is dark brown with gray roots which color should i buy? i do not want any reds in my hair but don't want my hair to be black either.

Asked by: Cindy56NC
Without seeing your hair, I would be guessing. If it is really dark and you prefer the more ashy, as opposed to reddish or golden, try the 2A. If that ends up being too dark, use 4A instead. 3W is another alternative. The "A" refers to Ash, the "W" stands for warm. As a former hairdresser, I know how to mix colors, which is what I do, but I have red in mine.

My hair is normally medium brown but I get it colored dark blonde with medium blonde highlights. It’s starting to grow out and show the gray, 75%, and medium brown. What should I use on the roots. Can I use the semi permanent 6n?

Asked by: ShellieB
Yes, I think so, BUT in my opinion, you probably should do an all-over color rather than just the roots. You probably won’t have a natural transition between your old color, your natural color, the gray, and now this new color; it might look “choppy” or “sloppy.” The good thing about the semi permanent color is that it washes out pretty quickly, so if you dislike the color after trying out 6N, try another (in my opinion DARKER) color. If you go for a PERMANENT medium to dark brown all-over color, that will look nice and uniform during the quarantine. Then you can go back to the salon and have whatever you want done again.

If you put this color on your roots and it touches your scalp, will it color your scalp/head too? Or does that part wash out?  Also how much of this would I need to color my whole head of hair?

Asked by: Sydney555
It does not color my scale. However, I am a person of color.  I only use it to cover gray so I only need to use a 1/2 bottle.  I have been using it for at least 7 or 8 years.  I love it!!!

Hi, I normally use 6A color which is either a Dark Ash Blond or Light Ash Brown depending on the brand. I need help figuring out what color to purchase of the Clairol Beautiful Collection -Advanced Grey Solution Semi Permanent Color, that is similar.

Asked by: Luann Vojna
This product is designed for Brown hair shades, so they don't really have any Blonde shades - you could try either Light Chestnut (if you want to skew red) or Toasted Hazelnut (neutral/ash base). But both will be darker than what you've been using in the past.

I would like to use a permanent dye but I  had severe reactions with blisters that take weeks to recovery. So I tried different semi permanent hair no luck until I tried advanced Clairol cover. Now how do I get it to last longer. I wash my hair daily

Asked by: Want permanent
I would really try not to wash daily use a good color safe shampoo and cooler water to help with longevity of the color, I also would recommend doing a patch test if you ever try a new brand if you are so sensitive it’s worth the time just apply a bit of color behind your ear or the crease of your elbow 24 hours before coloring if that skin reacts you know it’s not good for you scalp.
