Rated 5 out of 5 by from Color without dyed look!! This is very good to use on people that do not to dye their hair . My niece is 53 and has natural dark hair with grey coming in quickly. By using the Clairol Beautiful Collection it does not darken her natural color just puts color to her greys and blends hair together which keeps it natural looking.

Hi, I normally use 6A color which is either a Dark Ash Blond or Light Ash Brown depending on the brand. I need help figuring out what color to purchase of the Clairol Beautiful Collection -Advanced Grey Solution Semi Permanent Color, that is similar.

Asked by: Luann Vojna
This product is designed for Brown hair shades, so they don't really have any Blonde shades - you could try either Light Chestnut (if you want to skew red) or Toasted Hazelnut (neutral/ash base). But both will be darker than what you've been using in the past.

I would like to use a permanent dye but I  had severe reactions with blisters that take weeks to recovery. So I tried different semi permanent hair no luck until I tried advanced Clairol cover. Now how do I get it to last longer. I wash my hair daily

Asked by: Want permanent
I would really try not to wash daily use a good color safe shampoo and cooler water to help with longevity of the color, I also would recommend doing a patch test if you ever try a new brand if you are so sensitive it’s worth the time just apply a bit of color behind your ear or the crease of your elbow 24 hours before coloring if that skin reacts you know it’s not good for you scalp.

How long does this last? How often can it be used without damage? Im trying to transition into semi permanent, from permanent for better health for both my hair and, me!

Asked by: lunaboro
I would say it lasts about 3 months. I probably only wash my hair every other day, maybe every third day if possible, so that helps it last longer, since it washes out over time. I don't think that it has damaged my hair at all - I chemically straighter my hair, once or twice a year, and use this product maybe 5 times a year, for about 3 years now, and there is no damage. It gradually washes out (especially because I wash infrequently) so it takes a while for the grays to come back full force. I really love this product. Easy to use, great results, and I'm in control of my grey. If the day comes when I have too much to cover, I can just go grey with no horrific transition.

This product is used to cover the grey hair, so I would say yes, if you have some grey it will work. I have been using it for years and am satisfied. It is not as harsh as permanent color.

my hair is dark brown with grays along my edges. I used 2N and everything came out nice except my edges are still gray. Is there something i'm not doing right? I left it on 20 min like the bottle said, do I need to leave on longer?

Asked by: aceepoo1
I recently was told by a stylist to only apply on gray areas not my entire head because it darkens the the hair and after several applications it builds up. I find also the best way is to sit under a dryer but if I don’t have one, I will leave it in longer.

I want to stop coloring my hair but need something to cover the grey while my roots grow out. My hair is dark brown, I was going to order espresso. Will this cover my grey while my hair grows out? How long does the color last?

Asked by: Jacquie3
I have dark brown hair (or use to). My hair is pretty much all gray now.  I used the rich dark brown for a couple years but it was almost black. Then I tried rich walnut. It’s pretty dark but with a hint of auburn. I liked it better. I have this feeling espresso is going to be black.

My hair is semi gray....I want to make it all gray. Is there a rinse for this, or do I have to strip my hair and use permanent color?

Asked by: Janet 1951
You could try using Color Oops to remove any dye that is currently in your hair (although you need to rinse it out extremely well to avoid the color from re-oxidizing and darkening your hair again). Then, if you wish to change your hair color after that, you could choose another color to dye it that is closer to your natural color.

Need a replacement for Natural Instincts 30R, Cherry Creme. Does anyone know if either of these reds are comparable to that shade? Also, can you use just a small portion of the product and save the rest for later (for when I just need to color my roots)?

Asked by: JaneDoeNY
Not sure about the color, I don't use any reds. But you can save leftovers, just close the top tight. Mine have sat for a month and still good.

Is the Mahogany Red Brown a similar color compared to the Cedar Red Brown? I presently use the Cedar Red Brown and I love it but I need some grey coverage.

The Mahogany Red Brown is a shade darker than Cedar Red Brown. You should get better gray coverage with Mahogany Red Brown and still have a vibrant look with your hair color.

Can I switch from using a permanent color to using a use a semi-permanent instead? My hair is quite grey now, so the root line is evident sooner. I want to color more often, but worry about the harshness of frequent permanent color on my hair.

Asked by: pianopam
I've found the Clairol Beautiful collection hair products to be not too harsh to use more often. this product is semi-permanent so it does wash out....I'm not a professional but have been using this collection of hair products for years and I still have healthy hair. Get lots of compliments on my hair color too. My hair is brown with red highlights and I use Cedar Red Brown, so I get sections of red where the gray would be.
