Rated 1 out of 5 by from Washes Out after 1 wash I was hopeful that this would work as a “refresher” between all over coloring. If pretty much just washed right out during my first shower after use. The water running off my head was solid brown and my grays are visible again. I will try a different brand next time. :(

Rated 5 out of 5 by from So much better than permanent! I recently switched to semi-permanent after 30 years of permanent. I have to commit my hair every 6 weeks due to the gray outgrowth and this color lasts just long enough. I love the lighter odor, and the color tone and shade are perfect. I also love that I can stop using it, and after a few weeks, I can see what my true color looks like. I don't think I'll ever switch back to permanent again.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Long lasting all over It’s easy to put on, and it lasts at least three weeks with no discernible change in color, anywhere – even around the edges. I like it a lot and I wish they would make it in more colors

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Partially Good Results I was looking for a "natural" shade of red, which this did accomplish where it covered my silvers and lightest greys from my hairline to the crown of my head. However, my darker grey hair in the back didn't take the color as well, and it washed out pretty quickly, leaving me with a two-toned red/brown overall look.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from easy color touch up colors are nice and easy to use. I like the semi permanent because it lights naturally after washes. Nice and Shiney

Does this last on roots with some gray. I usually have to color my roots every 3 weeks and I'm trying to find something less harsh. I always use a permanent hair color but still have to touch up every 3 weeks due to gray around my hairline.

I have dark Brown hair and am trying to get a medium Brown/Mahogany tint to my hair, is there a color, or perhaps two colors blended that would give me that? Tried Natural Instincts, doesn’t cover stubborn grays.  Thanks.

Asked by: Jach2796
I would like to start off not hair stylist but extreme hair enthusiast. Since ur hair is already dark brown, it sounds like you want a hint of mahogany. This depends on comfortable level: choose 10 volume developer if you need time to apply to hair (the higher the number the faster it process the color). if ur needing a tint once ur done coloring your hair leave in for 10 minutes.  I also included the 1/4 red with full tube of magenta I think u will achieve the color your looking for. Adding red avoids the magenta from adding pink undertones(I personally did not mind it, still looked great)  I chose 10 minutes bc depending on texture color could produce faster, keep checking it as well so you can rinse when you see desired color which may take less than 10 minutes. Don’t be afraid these are great products and love them! Enjoy! Can’t go wrong with 10 developer and this is much gentle on the hair than buying box color. Trying to blend gray while growing out color. My natural color is between dark ash blonde and light ash brown. What color would you recommend to blend gray while growing out?

Asked by: jfran281
It would depend on the color you are trying to grow out you mentioned what your natural hair color is but not the color you are growing out, if the color you are growing out is a darker color then you would want to select a darker color on your gray hair

It does not fade all at once, it fades with each shampoo.

Would this completely fade away after 5-10 washes? If I go darker would it go back to original is my question?

Asked by: Jo Joanna
Hello Jo Joanna, Semi permanent color only sits in your hair shaft and dosent penetrate, this is why it will fade after several shampoos. I will not however get back to you shiny, stubborn gray. It will have an ash tone and will require a "refresh". You will be able to add another semi permanent after that many shampoos with great results. Happy coloring.

Can I use on my eyebrows to cover the gray? If not, what do you recommend?

Asked by: suzanne34
I have found the only thing that successfully does eyebrows (at home) is Just for Men beard and mustache. Be warned however, it needs to be done every week. But you can just mix as much as you need each time so a box lasts a long time. I also recommend applying it with a cleaned up, old mascara wand. Even as a naturally frugal person, I find the salon the best place to get this done simply because the stuff they have to use to get great results is simply not safe for self-application, it even took me awhile to find a salon that does it because of the risks.

Asked by: Brenda68
I put it in 3 days dirty dry hair. I also put a plastic cap and heat cap on. Left it on my hair for 35 min. The color really took. I only rinsed it out with luke warm water. I will condition it tomorrow. I have 3B/C curls, medium porosity hair.

You will need to try some colors on your grey so you can find that hue that you want. I’ve tried different colors myself and the choices are not too many, I would recommend for you to experiment by mixing their colors until you find what you like.

my hair is jet black and grey! what can i do to avoid the weird tint i am left with on the grey when the color starts to wash out and fade?

Asked by: frankie63
I am a natural redhead and I have the same problem as red hair does not hold color well at all. That's why I use a semi-color - saves money on coloring. That being said, since you have natural black hair, I would use a permanent hair color as the color last longer. Other than that, I have no other tip for covering grey.

Is this product similar to the old Loving Care? I could use that without irritation, but have had a very difficult time finding a product which does not make me feel itchy.

Asked by: savannah7
Hi - yes, this is the successor to Loving Care. If you have a tendency to "itch", be sure to test it before using it on your whole head. Also, you may want to cut back a little bit on the time you leave it in. I generally go for 40 minutes; you might want to do 30-35. It only lasts about 2 weeks tops (depending on how often you wash).

This line doesn't use a developer, just apply from the bottle and let it sit. It's not permanent and washes out fast, but it's much more gentle and natural looking yet still covers grey well enough for me.
