  • Brilliantly intense hair color No ammonia or peroxide Formulated in Italy Ready to use
ion Color Brilliance™ Semi-Permanent Brights are hi-fashion hair color shades designed to give vivid, boldly intense results. In 20 to 40 minutes ion Color Brilliance™ Brights deposits color on pre-bleached natural or color treated hair. ion Color Brilliance™ Brights can be applied to pre-lightened hair and natural or colored hair.
  • ion Color Brilliance Semi-Permanent Brights Hair Color can be applied two different ways.

    1. For the most vibrant result apply to pre-lightened hair. Pre-lighten with Ion Color Brilliance Ammonia Free Powder Lightener (not included) to the desired level of lift. It is important to note that the degree of lift achieved with pre-lightening will directly affect the vibrancy and intensity of the final result. Underlying exposed contributing pigment must be taken into consideration. If the hair is orange or a dark yellow this will contribute to the final color.

To achieve a boldly intense brights color, pre-lighten to the level indicated in the table below for each specific color. After pre-lightening, shampoo with ion Color Defense Shampoo. Dry the hair. Apply chosen brights shade directly on dry hair and process for 20 to 40 minutes depending on the level of color intensity desired. Strand test every 5-10 minutes. Heat is not necessary for processing if the hair has been pre-lightened. After processing, thoroughly rinse and apply ion® Color Brilliance After Color Treatment to close the cuticle and lock the color deep inside the hair.

    2. Color shine overlays on natural or color treated hair. Apply brights directly onto natural or color treated dry hair and process for 20 to 40 minutes. For more intense vibrant results, cover the hair with a processing cap and process with heat. Strand test every 5-10 minutes.

After processing is completed, thoroughly rinse and apply ion Color Brilliance After Color Treatment to close the cuticle and lock color deep inside the hair.

  • ion Color Brilliance Semi-Permanent Brights Hair Color are non-oxidative dyes that can be extremely long lasting and may become permanent. Apply to dry, pre-lighten hair.

Should removal be necessary from hair, it is important to know that lightener may not completely remove Brights from hair. ion Color Corrector is not recommended for removal of Brights. It is designed for permanent and Demi-Permanent color removal.

Always read the product packaging and inserts for complete directions, instructions, and warnings, and make sure to perform both the strand test and the patch test before applying your color.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Eh It would be a really pretty color but it pulled really blue and uneven. Possibly user error but who knows.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Mixed feelings It's a lovely color and goes over brown hair pretty well. My issue? It bleeds. A lot. It also faded immensely after one wash.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Gorgeous color, but... Buy multiple boxes. This product is very thick. I have thin hair but a lot of it medium length and I got through about 1/4 of my head even with adding a decent amount of conditioner. Luckily I was using two different products and the manic panic saved the day. The color is beautiful tho!

I use the lavender color regularly but my darker hair is showing through. How can I totally strip the lavender out without waiting for it to grow out/eventually wash out? I want to lighten it and basically start over again with the permanent lavender.

Asked by: suew21014
Ion has a hair color remover. However if your looking for a less harsher route, If you dont mind smelling like a puckle for a little bit (lol) try vinegar on your hair 5-10 minutes, rinse thoroughly with warm water. I hope this helps

How to dye my dirty blonde color hair to bright red and what do I need?

Asked by: BraydensMommy
This is really a question for a professional, saying that, in my experience to achieve bright red from dirty blonde, go to the regular hair dyes and choose your bright red and follow the directions. I used to have bright copper hair and never had to prebleach. But when I went platinum I had to prebleach.

I’m wanting a silvery light blue color. Should I mix azure and titanium?

Asked by: Kaykay93
I've found that the colors don't always come out exactly as you expect, especially when mixing. To get a lighter color I mix conditioner with the dye. The more conditioner you put in the lighter the color will be, but you have to let it sit way longer. For a light blue I'd say do azure 1st with at least a 50/50 of dye to conditioner. Once you've washed your hair 3 times the dye has usually faded as much as it's going to so you can get a really good idea of the color. Then go back over it with the titanium (maybe do a test chunk to see how strong the titanium will be). What usually happens for me if I try to mix two colors is that some strands take one color and some strands take the other color, so it's a kind of mottled effect. It'll look ok from a distance but not as good up close. I've had way better luck with getting an even color by dyeing one color and then going back over it with a second after a couple days.

Do you have to bleach in order for this product to work?

Asked by: Ashley75
When attempting to get the raw, bright color depicted on the box, bleaching is highly recommended. Without lightening the hair first, the most you can hope for is a color highlight to the natural tone. Example, I have naturally dark, almost black hair that lightens from sun exposure. When using this (or any) unnatural hair color, the only places it shows up is in the lighter sections, but it leaves color deposits that show up under certain light. If you have naturally light hair, it may show the color you want, but won't show up as pictured on the box.

I'm blond and color my hair with permanent ion 7.66RR, I want to temporarily do the fuschia and purple. My hair is very fine and damaged easily. What will happen if I add the color without lightening?

Asked by: celalyn1
Nothing. It’s not a chemical dye. It’s just a stain. It absolutely will not damage your hair.

I have fine hair that is long? What quantity should I buy?

Asked by: MegsPCmt
maybe 3 at the most. If your definition of long is to the middle of your back or longer. But you can also mix the dye with conditioner since it’s extremely thick. But I would go with 3 just to be on the safe side and mix with conditioner.

What happens if I mix this product with ion 20 volume developer?

Asked by: Tsunamimob
Do not add any developer, i have used this product for longer than a year and i can tell you from trial and error that if you add developer it will either turn your hair into different shades of that color or not at all which is a waste of money.

Do not use any developers with these or the color will not stick to your hair. These are to be applied directly to the hair after it's been bleached.

These instructions do not include re-application information....I have applied the Brights lavender on my lightened hair. I now want to re-apply the lavender. How do I need to do so?

Asked by: Fossilfiend
Apply to your hair as directed. Since this is a semi permanent hair color there is not anything special that you need to do for a reapplication to touch up or brighten the color in your lightened hair.

Why is the lavender color I purchased turning to a blue green as it is washing out while other parts are still showing a hint of purple? I just want this out of my hair already since it barely showed lavender in my hair anyways, what a waste.

I have died my hair blond if i use hot red on them when it washes out would it stain my blond?

Asked by: Sameeraa
Sameeraa, if you have Blond hair and use a Semi permanent Hair color, it will deposit that color into your hair and can last up to two weeks or longer. If you are looking for hair color product a that is less likely to stay in your hair and will wash out easily, shop for one of our Temporary Hair Color Sprays, Pastes, Gels, or Chalks under Temporary Hair Color.

Do I put any 20 volume in it or do I just put it in my head?

Asked by: Ryder1614
Ryder1614, none of our Semi Permanent Hair Colors need Developer in order to deposit color. Simply apply the color on to your unwashed dry hair and allow to process for the allotted time according to the product directions before rinsing. For a better color result you may want to consider lightening your hair before coloring with a Semi Permanent Hair Color. Consult one of our store associates or a stylist before lightening.

My granddaughter and I had a “dye-in” last night and had fun!  I put stripes of color in my white/grey hair, but after 50 minutes setting, when I washed it, now the whole top of my head is blue!  Should I have used a cap & pulled through strands instead??

Asked by: Grandma Cathi
A cap like that would work. Fortunately your scalp will return to it's natural color in a short amount of time. Try washing your scalp with shampoo and conditioner several times. That's worked for my older daughter.

I want to dye my daughter's completely virgin hair purple. It's dark brown. Are you going to be able to see any color? I do not want to bleach it. It's too healthy now. I don't want to ruin her hair.

Asked by: Rebeccav12347
Might be too late now, but the Ion permanent purple's with 10 volume developer would probably due exactly what you're looking for. They're great, pretty darn purple, and leave the hair with terrific shine. The demi permanent purple's with 10 volume are also very good and although not quite as long lasting, make very very little underlying permanent change to the hair. Good stuff

I m letting my white hair grow out now but i cannot stand it. Would this grey ion color product cover my white?? I do not want to bleach my hair at all. Just wondering if this product would help me

Asked by: Sylvia chavez
Yes. I'm silver with some streaks of pepper. I use a 50/50 mixture of the purple and the lavender, put on a shower cap and a beanie and leave it on for about 3 hours. Doesn't damage my hair and doesn't start fading for about 3 weeks. I still have great color, with roots, 6 weeks later. If you don't want the simi-permanent to last that long, don't leave it in as long.

How do I remove this color?

Asked by: Ivonivett
I used a clarifying shampoo. Soaked my hair in the shampoo, put a shower cap on, left it on my hair for about 30 minutes then rinsed and washed like normal. Since I'd been using the product for about a year, I had to do it several time. Didn't damage my hair and removed most of the color.

I have medium brown hair. If I mixed the purple with the lavender will it help show more purple or should I just go with the purple? Will it show well? I’m not looking for super vibrant but I still want to be able to know it’s purple

Asked by: Blah blah kittens
Use just the Purple. And I recommend using hydrogen peroxide 3% to 20% to naturally and cost effectively lighten your hair a few shades. Leave it on for a few hours wrapped in aluminum foil. Then wash with just water, dry well, and apply the Purple. The purple will show up nicely. My hair is also medium brown and this is what I do to show denim blue at the tips of my hair.
