  • This color is ready to use, do not mix with peroxide.

For pastelized results dilute Paints shade with Clear to desired color intensity.

    1. Apply Paints either on dry , clean pre-lightened hair or natural hair lighter than 9.
    2. Develop for 20 minutes.
    3. Rinse thoroughly until water runs clear.
    4. Shampoo and condition as required.
  • Paints shows best on light hair. If your starting color is darker than a medium blonde, you will need to pre-lighten hair for more noticeable results.

Want a more pastel look? Add Clear to pastelize any Paints shade.

When applying product, apply liberally and massage in with fingers. Don't forget to wear gloves.

Paints is a semi-permanent hair color so no developer is needed - just apply from tube onto hair.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Got the Job Done. I received the #wella #colorcharmpaints #voxbox in mulberry #complimentary for #reviewing purposes from Influenster. Very pretty light pinkish purple color. The box also came with a bleach and dye kit. The bleach worked really good and the dye colored really good. Would use the Wella brand again to dye my hair. Would recommend for punk hair styles. Rated 5 out of 5 by from smells delicious and beautiful color So weird that a hair dye smells so good. I love the color blue that I was able to try! Its a much darker blue than I anticipated and the color really stuck. I do wash my hair quite a bit so I do notice the color washes quick for me. But I love this to splash up your plain normal hair. Rated 4 out of 5 by from Mulberry I received the mulberry color, I think if I had like natural hair and just wanted a hint of color, this wouldve been perfect! I have black hair... Although hadnt dyed my hair in a few months (or more than a few due to Covid)... so I had a few inches of my natural dirty blond hair regrowth. I was hoping I could do like an ombr kind of thing, but the color wasnt quite rich enough (or deep enough.) SO I added a bit of black to it and got this really pretty violety black tone to retouch the hair. I will say I have extremely long hair down to my butt and usually have to use two tubes of hair color. This did go pretty far! Couldve used maybe a tube and a quarter. I did Mix the developer with the color (vs pre-lightening/bleaching), left color in about 45min, Worked great! Id definitely love to try the PURPLE color tube next time! Rated 5 out of 5 by from Bold and New I was a bit shocked at first to see that I received a Green Color for my Medium Blonde hair... I was so looking forward to a different color, maybe blue or teal or reds instead of a bright green but this looked different and I thought of giving it a try because why not??? Plus it's a semi-permanent color. If one doesn't like the color they can just use it as highlights and it comes off in a few washes. I've always played around with different colors but never quiet thought of a green one. Beautiful color though and very nice consistency and not too strong for the sensitive smell senses. Recommended to anyone who love playing with different colors. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 4 out of 5 by from super fun! I love the formula of this so much. As an avid hair dyer, it was nice to be able to have something thats a nice texture and consistency and lasts a decent amount of time. I often use Wella permanent hair, so I had high hopes for this and I wasnt disappointed. I used the blood orange color and it gave a slight tint to my own hair (Im currently a ginger so it wasnt a stark contrast but more a high light, which was nice!) and I didnt feel like it ran or washed out too quick. I definitely want to try some more funky colors. Loved it! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 3 out of 5 by from tints more than paints The Wella color charm paints didnt deposit as much pigment as I was hoping for. I did not want to bleach my hair, as Ive been working to grow out old damage, so I tested this product on my daughter who has dirty blonde hair. I was sent 2 tubes of color but it was just barely enough to cover her shoulder length hair. We left it in for about 30-40 minutes to ensure it was enough time and it just barely tinted her hair. The result is more of a rose gold tint, than the mulberry color that sat in the tubes. Perhaps if you have more product, your end result will be more vibrant. But having used other semi permanent colors (on mine and my daughters hair), I usually end up with better results from less product. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

I have blonde dyed hair is it okay to use this purple dye on it for like a temporary hair dye for something new?

Asked by: Gemma003
It honestly depends on how "temporary" you want this to be. If your looking for something that will fade gradually over a few months as well as depending on how often you wash it as well as the shampoo you use then this will be fine. When I use it I wash my hair daily with CS products and it lasts me about 2 months. By then it's time to change color anyway because I'm bored!

Asked by: Anonymous
To be perfectly honest, without seeing your hair.. I wouldn't recommend putting color on top. I think you could possibly end up with some very "interesting?" Colors. If you're going for a solid green I highly recommend using Prism Lites Violet Bleach and then start over. This is the only bleach I have found that does not dry my hair out not does damage. I must admit my hair actually feels lighter when I use it to change colors :) Although I've been partial to just coloring my roots as they grow out recently trying new ombres.

The paints are only offered in the fashion colors. You could try for a brown by mixing colors, but I would recommend going with a another line of hair color.

How to remove raspberry paint from highlighted hair?

Asked by: divadi11
I have tried to remove the purple and found that while nothing works perfectly (aside from the color removers, Washing my hair and then applying a mix of baking soda and dish soap. It is very drying on my hair, so I put a keratin deep conditioner on for 5 minutes. This removed a solid 90% of the color. A second application may have done the trick, but I was reapplying color...

Does Wella light pink cover a light aqua?

Asked by: Joeymcwoffer
If you look at the color wheel you’ll find that you are going to end up with a purple-ish color. It’s best to tone out the Aqua first.

Does it work on light/dark brown hair?

Asked by: Anonymous
Hi, I am afraid that without prelightening the hair FIRST- your colour will be muddy and barely visible. For best results you want to lift as much pre-existing colour from the hair shaftas possible, before applying the "paints". I hope this was helpful?

does this dye last only for 2 weeks? (i want to get the blue) ann also i have light brown hair so would that make my hair green?

Asked by: carolmtz
This product doesn't stay long and it's very hard to predict what it is going to do to your hair. I did it on bleached hair and it faded real fast...It might do hardly anything or it may give you result you do not like. You should try it on a small area underneath Al first. Best result are always obtained by seeing a professional colorist.

What is the difference between semi and demi permanent color?

Asked by: Stacey1031
Demi permanent uses a peroxide, which in results last longer. Semi permanent does not use a peroxide. It coats the hair cuticle, resulting in a short term color. *peroxide meaning, developer.

I use Wella light Auburn 445 I am looking to give a feminine kiss of Rose gold look to my hair, with out bleaching (drying) my hair. My natural in growing hair color is less than 25% gray and medium brown. Any advice for my goal would be helpful.

Asked by: Cassie62
I wouldn't dive into color charm paints. Your hair needs to be seriously light to take those colors.Try Ion Bright Whites Spring Blossom Toner with 20 or30 developer depending on how dark your hair is this can give you a nice Rose Gold.

Does my hair have to b bleached n order to use this product my hair is naturally black

Asked by: ROSE Vargas
Unfortunately you won't be able to see the results of any of these colors on naturally black hair. Not just because they are temporary, ANY color alterations will require you to lighten your black hair first before depositing another color. You should really be committed to whatever color you choose and have some really good advice on how to do this before diving in or some damage could occur giving you results you definitely don't want!

How many washes does it take a lighter?pastel colour to wash out of blonde hair at a level 8

Asked by: poppy3004
It depends....when I use a gentle shampoo and cooler water my color lasts up to 4 weeks. It has faded in as little as 2 weeks but it was due to more frequent shampooing and using hotter water.   I’ve used many brands and this one has always lasted the longest either way.

A couple questions: Do I need to tone my hair after I bleach or just put the color on? How many boxes will I need if my hair is to my mid back?

Asked by: ParkerOne
Not sure about bleaching and toning since I use this product on my natural color un-treated/un-bleached hair. As for how many tubes you would need, that will also depend on the level of thickness that your hair is, not just the length (2 might be enough, but its probably best to buy 3 tubes to be safe). Since I use this product on my shoulder length, un-colored/un-treated/un-bleached hair I use a lot more to saturate and I leave it on for several hours. If you plan to bleach first you may not need as much product and you definitely won't need to leave it on as long as I do. You still may want to ask a stylist what they would recommend regarding bleaching/toning prior to using this product.

What is the best color for light brown hair? I was thinking purple but idk

Asked by: Sierrasauce
Honestly you can put any color on your hair, but unless you lighten it some first you're not going to get a lot of adhesion.  You'll see the hues of your dye color but know it is over brown hair. As it fades it will appear as undertones.  I suggest going with a color that's in your color family.  If you're a cool tone go purple. If you're a golden go pink or red.  Blue and green will not give you a good result on virgin hair, your likely to look like you have pool hair.  No one wants to look like you have algea growing in their hair. Hope this helps.

Can you use this on colored hair to get it brighter? Or would I need to lighten my hair first and if so what should I do I have a dark red violet on my hair 5vr and my hair is naturally dark brown.

Asked by: Yosie0721
You can apply this over your color to get a tinted of color since its semi-permanent but lightening it with a bleach lightened would be best. To get level 5 hair light enough you'd need to mix bleach with a lvl 30 volume developer.

So I put the teal on my cousin and when I washed her after the time was up the all of the color washed out. I didn't dry her hair completely between the lighting and the color. Is the fact that her hair was still damp the reason the color didn't take?

Don’t wash it right away.   I rinsed with water after color was set and dried it.  I didn’t wash for 1-2 Days and it was perfect.

They sell a "clear" and that's what you use to dilute the color. I haven't actually done it because I prefer the jewel tones, but it's for just that purpose.

Can you mix the clear with a color? My mom wants to be a 5n and wants shine on her hair. Would she need to do them separately? If so should we do the color or clear first?

Always colour first. Apply the 5n but you CAN apply the clear immediately following. Unless they are BOTH Semi permanent products, you cannot mix the two together.
