ion Color Brilliance Semi-Permanent Gemstones Brights are hi-fashion hair color shades designed to give vivid, boldly intense results. In twenty to forty minutes ion Color Brilliance Brights deposits color on pre-bleached natural or color treated hair. ion Color Brilliance Brights can be applied to pre-lightened hair and natural or colored hair.

ion Color Brilliance™ Semi-Permanent Brights are hi-fashion hair color shades designed to give vivid, boldly intense results. In 20 to 40 minutes ion Color Brilliance™ Brights deposits color on pre-bleached natural or color treated hair. ion Color Brilliance™ Brights can be applied to pre-lightened hair and natural or colored hair.

  • ion Color Brilliance Semi-Permanent Gemstones Brights can be applied two different ways.

    1. For the most vibrant result apply to pre-lightened hair. Pre-lighten with Ion Color Brilliance Ammonia Free Powder Lightener (not included) to the desired level of lift. It is important to note that the degree of lift achieved with pre-lightening will directly affect the vibrancy and intensity of the final result. Underlying exposed contributing pigment must be taken into consideration. If the hair is orange or a dark yellow this will contribute to the final color.

To achieve a boldly intense brights color, pre-lighten to the level indicated in the table below for each specific color. After pre-lightening, shampoo with ion Color Defense Shampoo. Dry the hair. Apply chosen brights shade directly on dry hair and process for 20 to 40 minutes depending on the level of color intensity desired. Strand test every 5-10 minutes. Heat is not necessary for processing if the hair has been pre-lightened. After processing, thoroughly rinse and apply ion® Color Brilliance After Color Treatment to close the cuticle and lock the color deep inside the hair.

    2. Color shine overlays on natural or color treated hair. Apply brights directly onto natural or color treated dry hair and process for 20 to 40 minutes. For more intense vibrant results, cover the hair with a processing cap and process with heat. Strand test every 5-10 minutes.

After processing is completed, thoroughly rinse and apply ion Color Brilliance After Color Treatment to close the cuticle and lock color deep inside the hair.
  • ion Color Brilliance Semi-Permanent Gemstones Brights are non-oxidative dyes that can be extremely long lasting and may become permanent. Apply to dry, pre-lighten hair.

Should removal be necessary from hair, it is important to know that lightener may not completely remove Brights from hair. ion Color Corrector is not recommended for removal of Brights. It is designed for permanent and Demi-Permanent color removal. Always read the product packaging and inserts for complete directions, instructions, and warnings, and make sure to perform both the strand test and the patch test before applying your color.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Freaking love it Love this color. Be aware that blue and yellow make green. So, if you have some yellowy spots, make sure to saturate the it. Half the tube left some green hue, but touch ups with the rest came out beautiful. I have medium length medium brown hair with a heavy blond foil. More yellow than white blond

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Too expensive for what you get Not enough product in the tube and you do not mix with developer. I bought 3 tubes for my long, thick hair and I mixed it with equal part conditioner and it still was not enough to cover everything. Too expensive for the little bit you get. Color is okay, but is not really what I thought it would be.

will this color gray hair? i have dark brown/black hair and would love to do a dark blue on my roots

Asked by: TESSIE26
Yes, it will. if you have a spattering of grays, depending how long you leave it on, it may look lighter than the rest, but will give depth / layers of colours. will look really cool.

I have long, fine, medium brown hair, about to the small of my back. I bought 2 bleach kits and 2 tubes of the lavender semi-permanent color. Will this be enough to cover all my hair and do I need the toner with this color?

Asked by: Leannabelle5
My hair is about the same length but also pretty thick and I typically 3 tubes of color (with a little conditioner added just to smooth it out for easier application). I dont lighten mine first so I'm not sure about that aspect of your question. If your hair is quite thin. You could probably get away with 2 tubes of the color.

Is my hair light enough to use this product I really don’t want to bleach it  not sure how to post a picture but it’s this dark dirty blond with some redness in it

Asked by: Slayer666
i would suggest toning the warmth out first then if your ok with it being a bit darker then the super vibrant color shown then go for it try using a purple shampoo to see if it removes some of the brassiness before hand if you do not tone it professionally. though as the previous person stated always try a strand test in a place it wont be seen to see if you like it first but where it can be left out so you dont add more dye on top making it darker.

What color is garnet? If I put in my hair conditioner on my medium auburn hair

Asked by: Lulu1010
I can’t tell what youre asking so I’ll try to respond my best? If you’re asking what color garnet is, that’s what google is for. Garnet, is garnet. You can’t describe a color.  If you’re asking what will happen if you put the garnet dye in your conditioner, well, don’t do that. Please don’t do that.  If you’re asking what will happen if you put the garnet hair dye over your medium auburn hair, it will tint your hair garnet red. The true color will only show over blonde, but it should still show up.  Lastly, if you’re asking what will happen if you mix the hair dye with conditioner and then apply it to your head, don’t do that. Your hair is already darker in color and the conditioner will dilute the dye.  If you could please word the next question in English that would be great.  :)

I just recently dyed my hair black. I was wondering if I can use this on top of my black to have it reflect the color I choose.

Asked by: Miss Ashley
I found this product safe enough to do this. It didn't strip my hair, making it brittle. the darker hair will require you to leave it on longer, in order to show its colour. this may also make it more 'permanent' than semi-permanent. please try it on a strip first. you may not want the permanent look.

Yes it will work. I have dark brown hair and use tje N-Rage brand no lose color on my clothes or pillow they don't have a big selection on the colors but hot pink, red, purple teal/blue. I have used purple and hot pink you may not see it in doors but be ready for bright hair in the sun....love these colors. I've been doing hair for over 25 years and for no ammonia no peroxide semi permanent color it rocks!!

I just recently dyed my hair black with Feria box dye, and it has a very bluish tone to it. If I use garnet over my dyed black hair, will it help warm up the overall tone of my hair, or just do nothing?

Asked by: ElleyKat
It will warm up the color and neutralize any greens that you have but it won't be a bright garnet color. Look up color theory and a color wheel.

I'm planning on dying my sons hair with your Ion Permanent Brights , its the Tanzanite . And I was would to know how much and what type of developer ? Should i use

Asked by: setliff15
YES YOU WILL need developer, actually, if you are using the Permanent Brights line! Looks like that's what you were asking about. No developer is needed for the SEMI permanent colors. They have the same names, i.e. Tanzanite is Tanzanite for both lines, so don't mix them up by mistake! I like the permanent line for a dark shadow root that blends into my dark brown regrowth but the rest of the time I like the semi permanent so I can switch it up now and then. Anyway, the permanent line instructions say to mix 1:1 using Ion Color Brilliance Sensitive Scalp 10 volume developer. So for each tube of color you'll need 2 oz of developer. Hope that makes sense!

Hey I added 20 developer, just went with what the paper said inside the box. Rose quartz.   Well it lifted my natural brown roots a little and now look orange. Can I do a non bleach strip or tone it out?

Asked by: SusanKay10
Not sure if you added developer to the Ion dye or bleach but you would need a purple toner to take the brassiness out of your roots. Semi-permanent dyes are direct dyes and you should never add developer to them.

I have dark almost black hair already . I am going for a blue black color. What color should I use ? Also my roots are about an inch do I dye those first or start from the bottom

Asked by: Panda bear
Start at bottom. Roots are warmer because they’re closer to the scalp and will absorb color faster.

I haven medium brown hair right now; how light should I make my hair before I try rose quartz?

Asked by: maddieclare
it depends on how 'bright' you want it. I have dark brown hair, and wanted my colours to be visible outdoors, rather than under the office lights, so I did not lighten my hair. the colour catches the eye, usually in passing. it has not damaged my hair, since I did not strip the original colour. although now that I am swimming, the chlorine has lightened my natural and artificial colouring.

Can l mix developer in this dye 30 volume?

Asked by: Rosanna23
Generally you are not supposed to mix any kind of developer with these colors.  These colors are formulated for depositing color, 30 volume is made to lift color.

I bought this in the color tanznite and was wondering if it could be diluted to a pastel shade with conditioner

Asked by: MavisMae
I’ve done that with all the other shades pretty much and it works great. Just a heads up, the tanzanite is incredibly blue based.  Mix with it with a different purple or a warm red or pink and conditioner if it’s too blue to get your own custom shade.

will this cover grey roots

Asked by: rekeeley
No, it will not cover gray roots.  You have to bleach the gray roots first to rough up the surface of the hair follicles.  Then the surface will be able to absorb the color to get the gray coverage you want.  As one who has been covering my gray hair with azure, tanzanite, and shark blue for a couple years now, I speak from experience.

What color do you get if you use rose gold on top of aqua? Or on top of black hair?

Asked by: Jacquie09
I’ve never intentionally tried to layer ions colors, but from when I’ve done it accidentally it doesn’t end up well. The darker color always wins out. And ions colors work best with bleaching, so I wouldn’t suggest dying it on top of black hair.

I dyed my hair a dark red color at a salon a month ago and decided to do it my self.. I used the semi- permanent Garnet and it didn't hold on to my roots.. My roots are light brown with some grey.. Any ideas how to fix this? Besides that my hair looksfan.

I just colored my hair and it did not cover the gray. My hair is colored with pravana, so basically my roots are all that’s gray. It didn’t cover it at all. I left it on for 40 mins. can I do the roots again and for how long ?

Asked by: Crystalpah
It would be best to wait a week or so because your hair may have soaked in as much dye as it's going to right now so doing it again so soon may be a waste of product. For dyes like these (direct semi-permanent), you can leave them on for hours without causing damage. I like to leave them on for 1+ hours.

When you wash the dye out , do you just use water or should you shampoo as well ?

Asked by: Lauryn13
It is always best to use only water. Semi-permanent dye fades faster each time you wash your hair so if you want it to last longer, you'll have to wash your hair less often.

I have grey hair want a color streak. I want to use Ion brights do I use 40 volume peroixde?

Asked by: hopeful21
Ion Brights are a direct semi-permanent dye. This means that you don't have to mix anything with the dye unless you want to mix colors or to lighten it. Developer is mostly used for lighteners or toners and even then a 40 developer is way too high. If your grey is light enough, all you will need to do is put the dye directly onto the hair then rinse it out with cool water when the level of color you want is reached.

If I pre-soften my naturally silver white grey hair, will the semi - permanent color last truer longer when fading out.

Asked by: Tanzanite Fan
Yes, it should. However it still may be lighter than expected. Either add a drop of a darker color or leave it on a little longer than instructed. You can also add moderate heat for 1/2 the processing time.
