ion Color Brilliance™ Semi-Permanent Brights are hi-fashion hair color shades designed to give vivid, boldly intense results. In 20 to 40 minutes ion Color Brilliance™ Brights deposits color on pre-bleached natural or color treated hair. ion Color Brilliance™ Brights can be applied to pre-lightened hair and natural or colored hair.

  • ion Color Brilliance Semi-Permanent Gemstones Brights can be applied two different ways.

    1. For the most vibrant result apply to pre-lightened hair. Pre-lighten with Ion Color Brilliance Ammonia Free Powder Lightener (not included) to the desired level of lift. It is important to note that the degree of lift achieved with pre-lightening will directly affect the vibrancy and intensity of the final result. Underlying exposed contributing pigment must be taken into consideration. If the hair is orange or a dark yellow this will contribute to the final color.

To achieve a boldly intense brights color, pre-lighten to the level indicated in the table below for each specific color. After pre-lightening, shampoo with ion Color Defense Shampoo. Dry the hair. Apply chosen brights shade directly on dry hair and process for 20 to 40 minutes depending on the level of color intensity desired. Strand test every 5-10 minutes. Heat is not necessary for processing if the hair has been pre-lightened. After processing, thoroughly rinse and apply ion® Color Brilliance After Color Treatment to close the cuticle and lock the color deep inside the hair.

    2. Color shine overlays on natural or color treated hair. Apply brights directly onto natural or color treated dry hair and process for 20 to 40 minutes. For more intense vibrant results, cover the hair with a processing cap and process with heat. Strand test every 5-10 minutes.

After processing is completed, thoroughly rinse and apply ion Color Brilliance After Color Treatment to close the cuticle and lock color deep inside the hair.
  • ion Color Brilliance Semi-Permanent Gemstones Brights are non-oxidative dyes that can be extremely long lasting and may become permanent. Apply to dry, pre-lighten hair.

Should removal be necessary from hair, it is important to know that lightener may not completely remove Brights from hair. ion Color Corrector is not recommended for removal of Brights. It is designed for permanent and Demi-Permanent color removal. Always read the product packaging and inserts for complete directions, instructions, and warnings, and make sure to perform both the strand test and the patch test before applying your color.

I want to know which dye is close to a blue/black or midnight blue hair color?

Asked by: mommy2davina
Tanzanite might be? It's honestly the darkest of all brights, depending how light your hair is. It's like indigo so blue purple shade when you first dye it. After a couple washes, it fades into a royal blue and then a dull-ish blue but still a nice blue and it stays that way. Would be a really hard color to remove if ever, though. But it was my favorite.

I have bleached hair that I toned until it was silver, and am wanting a temporary dye to put on my roots in betwee bleaching. So my question is does this dye wash completely out, or is it going to stick in my hair and make the bleaching process difficult

Asked by: PrincessCaroline
It fades, but doesn't come completely out. I used the garnet on my ends & they're now a reddish pink color instead of the vibrant red they originally were.

I have red hair and wanna dye it the jade color, I reallllyyy dont want to bleach it bc my hair has already been through a lot. What should I do? I did a strand test and it didnt show up well, and I left it in for 30 mins.

Asked by: AmandaKC
If your hair is dyed red , you can crush a handful of vitamin c tablets with shampoo and Palmolive dish soap the one with lime and baking soda and lather up your hair and scrub out as much of the dye as possible before trying to put on the jade color . If your hair is naturally red and not picking up the jade color you will have to lighten in with bleach , for less damage you can soak up your hair with virgin coconut oil for at least a couple of hours to up to overnight if you can, then with the oil still in your hair will protect it from some of the damage of the bleach. Good luck

The top of my hair is black & the bottom is pink. I would like to put a blue-ish color instead of the pink, would I need to bleach that part first of would this be ok to just dye it over the pink?

Asked by: sarahhxx03
It's hard to say without being able to see the current color pink you have. Just knowing undertones and what colors mix to make what, putting a blue color over a pink (red hues) will turn it a purple-y blue. That is my best educate guess (10 year cosmetologist). If you can bleach it first, I would. It's always best to use a clean slate when coloring fashion shades.

Hi I recently applied ion dye in rose and the color totally washed out when I risned my hair even thought I bleached it beforehand? Only some strands kept the color in

Asked by: Avianna10
If your color washes out, its because you need to let it rest. t. Each follicle is a series of scales, overlapping, like a snake. when you keep dying it, the follicles open up and the dye wont adhere. My sister is a colorist in Dallas and she told me

when dying my hair with this, do I just apply it to my hair, or do I need to add anything to it?

Asked by: Siii2222
Prelighten your hair first if possible, you will achieve better results. You can then add the semi permanent color directly to hair. It does NOT need to be mixed with developer.

I have ion 5rv in my hair and lightened it once. Its more of a natural looking red hed now. If i put Sapphire on over it would it look bad or do you think the read underneath would just enhance and lezsen the green in the dye??

Asked by: Mainkidd
I would suggest toning your hair again to get as much of the red tone out as you can. Red orange mixed with green might turn a yucky greenish brown. The lighter the hair, the more pure the color will be.

Will this ruin my normal color? Just trying to dye my hair a cool color for music festival don't want it to be on for months

Asked by: NatalieD22
Don't use this if your hair is light or bleached. The jade, sapphire and tanzanite had all faded to a pretty soft turquoise after 5 months . I wanted to re-color all in sapphire so my daughter tried to bleach out the remnants when she did the new growth - it was a little softer color but most definitely still green after 40 minutes

My hair is bleached to a 9 with a slightly green tint (blue that won't come out). I'm thinking Rose Quartz will neutralize the green and hopefully leave a pinkish tint. Any suggestions on if this will work & hour long I should let the color process?

Asked by: Rjrjrjrj
It's a very light color, so I don't think it'll do any harm to try it. I'd recommend mixing it with a 10 developer 2:1 with the Color being the 2.

I'm dying my hair a light golden blonde but I want to add rose gold. Does anyone know if the rose quartz will show up and if so about how long would it last

Asked by: Whtechick
It will show up more on the lighter (more bleached) portions of your hair. I tried using this for the first time and left it on for a (nervous) 20 minutes... Barely showed up. Waited a couple weeks and reapplied the color over my blond hair... Left it on for about 40 minutes this time and it showed up much more vibrant... after couple shampoos over the next week it is a PERFECT rose gold. I get so many compliments! GOOD LUCK!

I have normal light-ish brown hair will I have up bleach it to have this color show up?

Asked by: L L A M A
The deeper colours should show up, you might have to leave the dye in for awhile though if you want to see the true results. I tend to leave mine in for 2 - 3 hours since direct dye doesn't harm your hair like developer dyes do.

I really only want to add color to the tips of my hair. I'd like it to last maximum two months because I have an internship and would understandably not want blue hair for that. I have naturally blonde hair and am worried it will color some parts deeper.

Asked by: Blonde777
It depends on your hair honestly. I've never had it wash out completely, the longest I've gone before re-colouring was 8 months and the colour was still good, although it was faded to more of a pastel instead of the vibrant colour it started as. Even now, I put in their red colour about 5 months ago and it's still going strong, more burgundy than bright red right now, but still awesome. However, I maintain my hair very meticulously, I only wash it once a week (I've got curls so any more than that and I'm a dry frizzball) and I only wash it in cold water and it gets a moisturizing mask before the shower and leave in conditioner after the shower. If you're worried about needing to only last a certain amount of time I would just do your tips, that way if it doesn't fade enough you can cut them off and keep going.

I'm looking for a intense true green color. My hair was bleached platinum white before I used Ion Titanium on it. Would the Ion Jade color be a true green?

Asked by: KourtneyKaos
Probably not. If you already have titanium on it, that will affect the end result. I always think of dying hair like painting a picture when it comes to direct dyes. You CAN go over one color with another BUT......Always keep the color wheel in mind! The bottom color is going to "mix" with the new color. Not completely, but enough to change the color quite a lot, and potentially have you looking like you let the easter bunny apply your color! ;););) That being said, if you want a true green, your best bet is to use a radical color remover, which will get the biggest part of the Titanium out, and then either let the rest fade out or try a bleach bath to get back to platinum, before applying the green. I have also washed my hair with Dawn dishsoap to help speed up the fading. Believe it or not it works better than a bleach bath. Just make sure to condition extremely well after, as it dries your hair terribly. The other option being to use the color wheel and see what color(s) mix with Titanium to make Green. This option has its own set of pitfalls tho. If you aren't sure about the color wheel either ask/research until you are, or DON'T do it! LOL I once wound up with the bottom half of my peek-a-boo looking like Barney the dinosaur! I could've cried, since it was supposed to be a deep crimson. (FYI: It only costs a couple dollars more to use a sealer and it will keep your color vibrant for much longer! Ion has a 2 step system with a color booster and a sealer, that is fabulous! Also, Sparks brand color is absolutely hands down the best radical color I have used (and I think I've about tried them all LOL). It starts vibrant and stays vibrant for several weeks with a sealer. Careful tho..It stains everything it touches, including the sink and tub. Bleach and a magic eraser get it clean tho.)

Just used Garnet. Did roots first, they were my natural hair color. Then continued to apply to my previously box colored hair that was a brownish/reddish faded color. This color took to everything except my natural hair color. Thoughts? Total time 40min

Asked by: Michelle9
When I used the garner color I had to bleach my hair first for the color to take. Those fu colors won't take over another color or if your hair isn't lifted. I also leave it on for as long as possible like at least an hour or even overnight. I have orchid hair now and it took great but it is a huge process. And make sure you moisturize well after the bleach process to protect your hair. Good luck!

how long should I leave sapphire blue hair dye in dark brown hair

Asked by: Alicia Hall
I have dark brown hair. I lightened to about a medium brown before dying and left the Sapphire in for a little over an hour (until my hair was almost dry) and the color only took slightly. The color that really shows best on dark hair is Jade, in my opinion. It's very vibrant. But I would recommend lightening your hair slightly (L'Oréal Excellence Hi-Color for dark hair only is pretty good) before adding any color unless you want the color to be more of a tint you can only really see in bright lights.

If your hair is fairly dark I'm guessing you'd need to lighten it first - the color is fairly pastel, it'd show up on blonde but probably not a darker brown.
