ion Color Brilliance Semi-Permanent Gemstones Brights are hi-fashion hair color shades designed to give vivid, boldly intense results. In twenty to forty minutes ion Color Brilliance Brights deposits color on pre-bleached natural or color treated hair. ion Color Brilliance Brights can be applied to pre-lightened hair and natural or colored hair.

ion Color Brilliance™ Semi-Permanent Brights are hi-fashion hair color shades designed to give vivid, boldly intense results. In 20 to 40 minutes ion Color Brilliance™ Brights deposits color on pre-bleached natural or color treated hair. ion Color Brilliance™ Brights can be applied to pre-lightened hair and natural or colored hair.

  • ion Color Brilliance Semi-Permanent Gemstones Brights can be applied two different ways.

    1. For the most vibrant result apply to pre-lightened hair. Pre-lighten with Ion Color Brilliance Ammonia Free Powder Lightener (not included) to the desired level of lift. It is important to note that the degree of lift achieved with pre-lightening will directly affect the vibrancy and intensity of the final result. Underlying exposed contributing pigment must be taken into consideration. If the hair is orange or a dark yellow this will contribute to the final color.

To achieve a boldly intense brights color, pre-lighten to the level indicated in the table below for each specific color. After pre-lightening, shampoo with ion Color Defense Shampoo. Dry the hair. Apply chosen brights shade directly on dry hair and process for 20 to 40 minutes depending on the level of color intensity desired. Strand test every 5-10 minutes. Heat is not necessary for processing if the hair has been pre-lightened. After processing, thoroughly rinse and apply ion® Color Brilliance After Color Treatment to close the cuticle and lock the color deep inside the hair.

    2. Color shine overlays on natural or color treated hair. Apply brights directly onto natural or color treated dry hair and process for 20 to 40 minutes. For more intense vibrant results, cover the hair with a processing cap and process with heat. Strand test every 5-10 minutes.

After processing is completed, thoroughly rinse and apply ion Color Brilliance After Color Treatment to close the cuticle and lock color deep inside the hair.
  • ion Color Brilliance Semi-Permanent Gemstones Brights are non-oxidative dyes that can be extremely long lasting and may become permanent. Apply to dry, pre-lighten hair.

Should removal be necessary from hair, it is important to know that lightener may not completely remove Brights from hair. ion Color Corrector is not recommended for removal of Brights. It is designed for permanent and Demi-Permanent color removal. Always read the product packaging and inserts for complete directions, instructions, and warnings, and make sure to perform both the strand test and the patch test before applying your color.
Rated 2 out of 5 by from Too expensive for what you get Not enough product in the tube and you do not mix with developer. I bought 3 tubes for my long, thick hair and I mixed it with equal part conditioner and it still was not enough to cover everything. Too expensive for the little bit you get. Color is okay, but is not really what I thought it would be.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Brilliant POP, then a nice steady fade I bought jade, even though the chart in the store recommended it be used on darker hair for a proper dark emerald. Put on level 10 light though, WOW! It's a very unique and interesting color on very light hair, a perfect middle between Caribbean blue and Kelly green. It reminds me of the June bugs we get in the summer, those jewel-toned ones. As it fades, the iridescence does, too, but it's not an ugly fade like you get with other semi-perms. It's nice and even, and I can let it go for ages before feeling the need to touch up; I have a blue/white gradient going, so I can usually skip one round where I do my roots with the white and let this color just settle into a very pretty sky blue. Doesn't even really require any rigorous upkeep, either, which is nice. I don't use Ion's color whosis, either. I just rinse it out and let it set for a while before I wash again with Paul Mitchell's skinny line. Just keep the water cool and you'll be all set!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great color! Rose quartz is the color I have been buying and using for a year now. I prefer the quality of Arctic fox colors overall, but they don't have a perfect pink tone that this rose quartz is. I mix it with a little conditioner, and it's the perfect pastel warm pink for my skin tone. It's not as peachy as it looks in the example. It is more of a true pink. I haven't had any issues with patchiness. It does fade fairly quickly, but that's true of almost all fun colors, I find.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Jade Great consistency, easy to apply. The color lasts well, I don't have constantly reapply. It's definitely on the bluer side of teal, but still a blue-green blend.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from inaccurate color i’ve been using Ion for a long time, and i’ve had nothing but great experiences up until recently. i bought the semi permanent color “jade” and decided to dye my bleached, yellow hair. once i was done dyeing the hair, i quickly rinsed it out to find that my hair had turned a blue, not a green. i’m very confused because my hair was once again yellow and i then put the dark green shade over it. seeing the color sample in store i was dissatisfied. the color is almost impossible to get out so i recommend that you do not buy this product. below are some photos attached of what color my hair was

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Pretty Bad I bought sapphire and jade to dye my hair. At first the color looked amazing, but it looks horrible after 5 washes. I wish I can remove the paint but it’s so hard for it to come off. I heard this happened to other people who also tried their products but it comes out patchy after washes. If I were you, I would do research and because I don’t want anyone to regret their decision.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Disappointed Garnet made my hair an eggplant purple color! I dyed over faded red hair, so I am stunned and hate hate hate the color. Time for a do-over!! Should have stuck to the l'oreal hi color brand.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Ion colors are the best Out of all the brands of bright colors I have tried, these are by far my favorite. The colors are bright and vibrant. They work on dirty blonde in-bleached hair. I’ve even started using them on my very dark brown hair without lightening it first. They show and the last for a good long while.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from great colour, long lasting I've used Jade and the Color Dep always amazing and stays on my hair really well! I also use a Teal Colour Shampoo+Conditioner absolutely love the colour it gives.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect! This color did exactly what I wanted it to! It's super gorgeous and so vibrant! I didn't lighten my hair at all, and the color still shows really well. My hair is also really shiny and healthy (no lightening). The pictures are my natural color, one day after dyeing, and three weeks of fading with washing my hair every other day.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from One of the best! Works beautifully as I expected, I always bleach out my hair to at least an 8-10 n the color comes out as I expected. One of the best out there.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Okay I left it in my hair for eight hours overnight. The blue washed out after about a month and a half? Then it faded to a greenish yellow color.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The best! I’ve tried other brands of color and never had as good of results as I have had with Ion. The colors are vibrant and easy to work with, as they are not too thick or too runny. Doesn’t damage my hair at all. Washing my hair in cold water with the Ion Color Defense shampoo keeps the colors bright for at least 4-6 weeks!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing color! I had brown/blonde ombré. I used Tanzanite semi permanent and it turned amazing! (It took 4 tubes to color all of my hair.) But if you aren’t wanting blue hair for a long time, DO NOT PUT ON BLEACHED HAIR. The blue has washed out except for where my hair was bleached. I’ve tried EVERYTHING. It has faded tremendously, but not anywhere close to being gone. Love the color though.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Color washed right out I bought this and kept it on as suggested. The color washed right out and was not even a trace in hair. I did strands on a few of my friends too and color washed out on theirs too.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from it was good there was just barely enough for my chin length hair, so if you have longer hair you should probably buy two or three. the color was great

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Rose gold I liked it, I used conditioner and smokey amethyst to make it more of a rose gold color. It works super well in my hair but not really at all in my daughter's hair. Different hair likes different stuff.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Color washed out. Waste of time. I bought and used Garnet. Terrible product. It didn't stay, washed right out. I'm upset because I needed fresh color and now have to wait a few days. I will never waste my time again on this product.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not so great Sky Blue not so good. More on the turquoise side Even on bleached hair.. Washes to a dull fade sfter a couple days/washes.. the sapphire color is super dark blue.... Wella brand blue is more true blue.

Will this product work after a keratin treatment?

Asked by: choxigurl
I would suggest waiting a couple weeks after the keratin treatment, let the hair shaft absorb that first, it may block the hair shaft from opening to allow the color in to be absorbed, and these are only semiperm colors so chemicals are not as strong to override the thick protective coating the keratin provides. I always give 2 weeks btwn any new hair treatment, to allow one to integrate and process completely b4 applying another. Also full absorption from the keratin will make ur hair stronger and more able to absorb the damaging impacts of color treatments and stay strong and healthy in the process. Hope this helps! Many Blessings

Would this work on black non bleach hair ? I don’t want to bleach my hair to get the blue color I want on my hair

Asked by: Ken22345
All it would do is *maybe* leave a blueish tint to your hair. In order to get a vibrant, or a more noticeable blue, you will need to lighten it. The lighter your hair, the more vibrant the blue will be.

My hair is already this color. But my roots are dark brown. What do I need to do to lighten my roots? and then put this color all over.

Asked by: Hot tamale
I have to bleach my naturally black hair (thank god it lifts quickly), in the pieces around my face that I dye cobalt blue. When I do my roots, I use a smaller 1.5” wise brush for precision, so that I can carefully just paint the bleach to the start of the blue without any overlap. I leave that in for 10 min, then I pull more bleach through the rest of the piece, stopping about 1.5” from the ends (I have 32” hair & I like a subtle ombré). Process another 10-20 min or until your roots are the desired lift. *WIDE brush, not wise. Stupid no editing...

Will this work on burgandy hair?

Asked by: Njgraham
I have naturally dark (but now graying) hair which I color dark red/ burgundy. As my color was fading and showing my dark and grey roots, I have played around with these colors, mainly the purple and I think, Sky Blue. While it is subtle, which is fine for me, the blue is very dark, like a blue-black, but in the sun you can see it. I picked up a blue hair makeup color from a local drug store to help emphasize the blue, but that washes out. Sally Hanson has a good return policy - just try a color you'd like and test it on a chunk of hair. If it doesn't work, you can usually return the product, or even try swapping for a different color that might work better. Makes it kind of risk-free to play around. (I did not bleach my hair to prep for color, FYI, and still like the result so far.)

will it go back to your natural hair after it washes out ?

Asked by: Sarah_18
If your a natural blonde then yes your hair will eventually go back to your natural color but it really depends on the color you choose. Blues tend to go green eventually then you have to wait for the green to eventually come out... Green is the hardest color to get out of hair whether it be semi or permanent color :/

how long does this last?

Asked by: jprice06
2-6 weeks depending on the color and how you take care of your hair. Silver and purple shades tend to wash out quicker than blues, greens, pinks and reds. It will fade slower if you wash your hair in cooler temperatures and less often. Here's a tip to stretch it, tint your conditioner your desired color and it will last even longer.
