Rated 2 out of 5 by from Big disappointment... I used this to color my daughters hair ends. We bleached her hair with manic panic 40volume bleach kit and put this on her hair for recommended time. The initial color payoff and ease of use is great. But the color faded rather quickly and didn't even last for two weeks. We wash her hair twice a week but at first shampoo two days after coloring so much color bled we already knew this was not going to last. The fade was light purple/pink which she adored as much as the original payoff but by the end of two weeks she had bleached ends with very little color. We understand its a semipermanent color, but dont think its worth the trouble and money for what we got.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from GORGEOUS, VIBRANT COLOR Tried manic panic for the first time recently when i decided to go red. Bought the shade Vampire Red. First of all, let me say this has given me the ultimate "Little Mermaid" red hair. I LOVE it. I get tons of compliments on the color, and it lasts a pretty good amount of time. The only thing i'm not crazy about is that it does bleed a good bit when washing or while wet, but it's not enough to make me not buy again. That being said, i haven't tried other shades from this brand, so that problem may not be an issue with other colors. All in all, this is def one of my new favorites.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A very BRIGHT BLUUUEEE! ( cyan really) Brighter than I anticipated ...it looks very dark in the jar but rinses down to a very bright blue ... like the cyan ink in an ink jet printer. That’s what it looked like! Too bright for me but I have added some purple and I love it now. If you want A bright dynamic undeniable BLUUUUUEE!! This is the color for you.

I have dark brown hair but dont want to damage it much. What can I do to get the extreme violet to show on my hair? I dont mind bleaching it but I'd like to know what I need to actually achieve it.

Asked by: Ordo2020
Hi! This product can be used on non-bleached hair with a direct dye over it. We recommend doing a test strip first to preview the results and judge how much time is needed to lighten to the desired shade. The maximum time the bleach should be left on hair is around 50 minutes. We also recommend checking the level and texture of your hair every 10 minutes to make sure your hair isn't being overprocessed. Please visit our Instagram: @manicpanicnyc and YouTube channel for helpful tutorials on the process. For any additional questions, please feel free to email our Color Experts at customerservice@manicpanic.com where we are available to help you 7 days a week!

do i need to have my whole head bleached for this product to show ?

Asked by: angieee12
Hi! Our shades Vampire Red, Purple Haze, After Midnight, Enchanted Forest, and Green Envy have the best results in brunette hair without bleaching. However, if you want true swatch results and vibrant colors then we recommend pre-lightening your hair to a level 9, or higher, for a true color tone. For tips, tricks, and more questions please email our color experts : customerservice@manicpanic.com.

How long does the dye last?

Asked by: Luna3147
It depends on a lot of things; what color is your hair now and what color are you expecting it turn out,  is your Hair in good condition or is your cuticle compromised..... semi color will fade faster than permanent color but still may never fully fade out. But if you are putting semi permanent on top of semi permanent color without letting it fully fade out your basically using permanent anyway.

I used this product, left it in my hair for an hour and when I went to rinse it came right out, no color left. What the heck?

Asked by: v0yager01
Hi! This could be due to the hair not being bleached and toned properly prior to dyeing. For best results with Manic Panic hair color, we recommend pre-lightening your hair first to a pale blonde-level 9 or higher. This will not only help the color show up as vibrantly as it should, but it will also help hold the color in your hair properly. For tips, tricks, and more questions please email our color experts: customerservice@manicpanic.com.

How do I achieve a platina color on my white hair?

Asked by: Lee 5555
Hi! We recommend using Virgin Snow, it is a light violet toner that helps to neutralize unwanted pale yellow pigments. When applied to hair that has been pre-lightened to the necessary shade (very pale blonde level 9 or 10), the end result will be white hair. For any additional questions, please feel free to email our Color Experts at customerservice@manicpanic.com where we are available to help you 7 days a week!

You should use a color ops or somthing like it to pull some of the old color out. I always buy 2 cause this stuff has an extreamly long shelf life. So it's better to have lots then none. But depends on how dry your hair is.

I recently dyed my hair a red permanent hair dye, it's faded a bit back to the blonde I bleached a while back would hot hot pink show up or would I have to lighten it again?

Asked by: Danielle73503
Hi! Hot Hot Pick is one of our most pigmented shades so it should show without the need of bleaching. To see how the shade will show up on your hair, we recommend doing a strand test before doing it all over. Before applying Manic Panic, prepare the hair with clarifying shampoo, do not condition, and blow dry hair completely. This process will make sure the cuticle is open, dirt/oils are removed, and the hair is porous. Asked by: dunncoll
Hi! Our shades Purple Haze and After Midnight have the best results in brunette hair without bleaching. Results on natural hair though will not be as intense and show up more like a tint or “glow” of color that can be seen best in bright sunlight. Also, results vary from person to person because everyone's hair is different, so regardless of which color you pick, we always recommend doing a strand test to see how the shade will show up on her hair. Can I color my natural grey hair with this and have it wash out completely over time?

Asked by: Brettttt
Hi, Sure you can! Our Semi Permanent Hair Color can last up to 6 weeks and will fade gradually. Be aware, grey hair can be very resistant to any hair color and even though it is light in color, it often needs to be pre-lightened or otherwise processed in order for Manic Panic Semi-Permanent Hair Color to work best and show up vibrantly. To see how the results will look on your natural hair before dying, we recommend doing a strand test to see how the color will show up. However, if the color does show up in your hair, it may wash out faster than when our hair color is used on previously lightened hair. Do you have to bleach hair?

Asked by: NavyMama
Hi! It depends on several factors including the color you want to achieve and the color of the hair being dyed. Although some people’s natural hair may get a slight tint from some of our colors, we cannot and do not guarantee that the color will work properly unless hair has been pre-lightened. For best results with Manic Panic hair color, we recommend pre-lightening your hair first to a pale blonde-level 9 or higher. This will not only help the color show up as vibrantly as it should, but it will also help hold the color in your hair properly. Asked by: Anonymous
If you're re-dying the same color of blue or a darker/more vibrant shade of blue i don't think you should have a problem. As far as I know the only way to make the after shade of blue go away is time and or cutting....re-dying with the same color should be fine.

will the dye stain my bathtub at all? if so is it easy to come out?

Asked by: machuca22
Hi! Manic Panic hair colors can stain anything that is porous (just like your hair!) so it is best to cover your work area with plastic bags, plastic wrap, tin foil, newspaper, etc. to ensure you do not get any unwanted staining on your home surfaces. Always rinse your hair under a faucet and away from your face. We do not recommend rinsing your freshly colored hair in the shower, as this can cause the color to splatter and stain your shower walls & tub. Some bathroom surfaces are more porous than others – better to be safe than sorry! For any questions or tips, please contact our color experts via email: customerservice@manicpanic.com anytime.
