Rated 5 out of 5 by from 10/10 The color was really bright and vibrant. It’s very long lasting and it’s definitely my favorite red so far

Rated 1 out of 5 by from incorrect colors my hair was light blonde, maybe like one or two steps below platinum. I wanted forest green with a pink strip, i bought pink puff for the pink strip and black to mix with another green dye. the pink BARELY showed up at all even on light hair, so i wanted to dye over it with the black...It’s literally just blue. It would be a great deep blue if that’s what i was going for at all but it definitely wasnt, and it bled into the green and turned it teal. It also did not adhere to my medium brown roots whatsoever, not even a slight tint. Tried to scrub it out in the shower and has shown no signs of fading. This would be great if you were platinum and you wanted dark blue, or you could just use arctic fox and know what you’re getting. Sorry ms williams i still love you but god this was a flop

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Ugh ! I’ve always had red & purple hair I’ve tried almost everything so I figured I’d give ppl eater a try I dyed it on super light brown hair like almost dark blonde. All the dye did was turn my hair med/dark brown their is zero color in it, it all went down the drain. I’m super upset stick to what you know this isn’t it trust me...

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Color saturation Color saturation is not great on brown hair. Website greatly misrepresents color change.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Black is a waste of time and money Extremely messy, stained my tub, stained my towels, left absolutely no pigment on my hair whatsoever: I don’t know how you manage to mess up a black dye, but it is absolutely useless. I wish I’d never wasted my money - there are cheaper and better performing black dyes.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from the black is blue. just blue. i bought the “none more black” dye. it’s not even black. it’s just blue. i need to buy new black dye to cover it. don’t buy unless you want blue

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Uneven Results, Incorrect Color in Tube This product is absolute trash. 10/10 do not recommend. I bleached my roommates hair last night with the hopes of using "Stoned Poney" to get a nice lilac color. Instead, the color that was in the tube labeled "Stoned Poney" was actually the eggplant color called eater something. However, I didn't realize this until we opened the new tube, 3/4 done with her hair. So I did what I could do to try to blend this hot mess and the end result is not what my roomate was hoping for. I understand that some of the uneven results come from me trying to blend the color but I fully SATURATED the hair as much as possible with this AWFULLY thick consistency and there is still missed spots. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY!! *** I am a professional and would not recommend this***

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The BEST hair color out there I swear by this hair color. It’s got clean ingredients that won’t ruin your hair, and there’s SO MANY COLORS! I’ve redyed my hair over 10 times with this brand and my hair is still soft to the touch. Of course, I’m always happy to support Ms. Williams as well.

I have 85% gray hair naturally if I use the peach color will it cover the gray or do I still have to use the lightber and then color?

Asked by: Anonymous
Well it depends on a few things... How dark is your grey, is it silvery or like steel grey. You have to imagine mixing your grey like paint with the colour of semi permanent or toner, both of which are not permanent. If it covers most of your grey it will start to wash out with every shampoo so you're only going to get a blend. Then lightening your hair will permanently lighten it...to a yellowy blonde. So consider then you will be locked into adding colour until you grow out the light part. Without knowing your goal, consider a toner or semi permanent closer to your natural hair. Do a test strand. Then go further if you still want to. Hope that helps!

So my hair is currently a faded black and my roots are dark blonde (my natural color.) I've only ever used box dye and I'm trying to switch to a vegan dye. Artic Fox fades too quickly, so I was wondering how well this product would work on my hair?

Asked by: Wednesday009
The sturdiness of semi-permanent dye depends heavily on the color/shade (because each shade is made with different ingredients) and your hair's porosity. That said, Good Dye Young is usually about twice as sturdy as Arctic Fox in fast-fade colors like blue and pink.

Can I mix color to get neon green?

Asked by: Me999999
You could potentially mix the yellow and green options for neon green. I would suggest a 1:2 ratio of green (1) to yellow (2)

Will the dye work on hair that has never been dyed or bleached? I want to know what dye would be best for my hair since I have never done anything to it. (Btw I have light brown hair)

Asked by: Ok961244
I use it without bleaching to great results. I just use dr. Bronners Castle Soap as a cleansing shampoo then blow dry it and use the dye as directed with a brush. And even without globbing it on like I’ve seen some do with prelightened hair Rock Lobster and Riot showed up great on my brown hair. Steal My Sunshine looks a bit green when wet though when it’s dry it looks fine.

Does color bleed when washed? Does it stain the tub or your hands when u wash your hair? Like a mess. Does color come out of towels, pillows when washed? And when you apply it does the color come off your skin when rinsing product out? I dye my hair a lo

Asked by: atxqueenb
I've used the green. It will lightly stain your tub when you rinse it out. It will stain your hands if you don't use gloves but it mostly washes off after normal hand washings with soap. Use very cool water, rinse until water is clear, and use a color sealing conditioner right after coloring. I've had absolutely no bleeding.

I just lightened my hair beneathe my bangs and colored it with Splat Blue Indigo, I want it to be more vibrant and can't wait to try GDY in Blue Ruin. Do I have to rebleach again or can I color over the present color?

Asked by: Missylove
I would suggest trying to fade the previous color out as much as you can before applying Good Dye Young in order to get the most vibrant results. But no, you shouldn't have to re-bleach again unless you want to ensure vibrancy! xx dye happy, Becca from Good Dye Young

I'm looking for a warm based purple, almost like a dark magenta. Would I be able to make one if I mixed ex-girl with some Blue Ruin? And would it show up well on caramel highlights?

Asked by: nick like nickname
My favorite formula for magenta is Ex Girl, Rock Lobster, and a very small drop of Blue Ruin! xx dye happy, Becca from Good Dye Young

How long does it last

Asked by: Hannah2579
This line does last a good bit longer than some other semipermanents that i have used (I'd say around 4 weeks without needing a touch up), but at-home maintenance is also key - make sure to use cold water and color-safe/sulfate free shampoo. Also, any summer activities like pool time or beach trips, it would be best to avoid getting the hair wet as chlorine and salt water can strip the color quickly!

do you need to bleach or can you dye straight onto unbleached hair? i'm looking for a more diluted, dark color and have dirty blonde hair.

Asked by: spicyjor
You can do a strand test to see how it would look, but you will get best results if you bleach first. If you want it darker it is best to mix with a darker color until you get desired color. If you try to apply on dirty blonde hair I think you will get a muddy greenish look (for the blue anyway)

Is one bottle enough for long, straight, fairly thin hair??

Asked by: Leannabelle5
One bottle of GDYs Semi-Permanent Hair Color contains 5 ounces of product. Our product has a creamy consistency that is easily spreadable onto your hair. Depending on how long your hair is, one bottle should be enough! If you are unsure, we always suggest purchasing an extra bottle just in case. Our colors are reusable after opening so you don't have to use the whole bottle if you don't need to! xx dye happy, Becca from Good Dye Young

I love the idea that the black has a purple tinge! My only question is, will the black fade out to my normal brown eventually, or would I have to wait for it to grow out, like permanents?

Asked by: straykat74
It will mostly fade out to your natural color.

Is this similar to Ion or more like manic panic? Does it bleed a lot every time you get hair wet?

Asked by: Kdrdudek
I have used Ion, Manic Panic, and GDY. It is much more similar to Manic Panic, my hair bled a bit during every wash for weeks after using blue ruin. The consistency during application is more like Manic Panic - it is also super pigmented like Manic Panic.

Does it cover Grey and can it be used without bleaching your hair first?

Asked by: AnnunziataM
This would not adhere to my virgin natural ash blonde roots, nor my grays. The hair typically has to be processed first.

I want to use the black color to cover my grey hair. Do I still have to bleach my hair then? Thank you.

Asked by: Kristabol
No need to pre-lighten for the blank, but depending on your amount of grey you will not get full coverage. Semi permanents are typically not for grey coverage if you have a high percentage of grey.
