  • Pre-lighten the hair to desired level before applying toner. Mix 1 part Wella Color Charm toning color with 2 parts 20 volume Wella Color Charm developer. Apply to towel dried hair then, develop for up to 30 minutes. Check frequently to see if desired results are achieved.
  • You can customize the toner formula by intermixing shades. For example, if you want a shade that is in between an ash tone and a warm tone, try mixing equal parts of T-18 and T-14 with equal parts of T-11 or T-35.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great toner on pre-lightened hair I've used this for about 5 years now - I regularly bleach my hair, and this takes out ANY yellow tones. Seriously, it gets GHOSTLY white. I do bleach my hair as light as I can get it before I tone, so your mileage may vary on darker shades, but after 5 years, I have absolutely no complaints and will keep buying this product probably until I die. It does have a fairly strong chemical smell, but just open a window or turn on a fan and you'll be fine.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from eh my hair was a dark dark brown almost black and i just bleached my hair last night and even though i put it on my ends first, my ends were light orange and my roots yellow. i mixed the t18 with 30 developer (i diluted the developer with 1.4 oz of water to make it 20 volume for less damage) and applied it to my hair, left it on for 30 minutes and all it did was lighten my hair more? my ends are now golden yellow and my roots light yellow. No ashy tones at all! im disappointed. i dont know if my hair is too damaged to hold the toner or if me diluting the 30 developer made it not work. it still had the gel consistency so i thought it would work and it did not.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from From yellow to blonde from red to blonde, I bleached my hair 3 times. I was at that ugly yellow stage when I decided to tone it with the t18 wella. Thank God I did! I'm not embarrassed to walk around with my crazy bleached hair anymore. First, after toner. Second, before!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from So amazing Bleached my whole head by myself for the first time. Took two bleachings. Wanted to get the yellow out so I got this and some 20 developer. Literal magic. Seriously.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from AMAZING!!! I absolutely love the way this product turned out! It gave me exactly the color i was looking for. I left it in for about 40 minutes, and the outcome was awesome The only reason I would be careful with it would be because I re-bleached my hair in between toning it and the first time i bleached it, so i don't know exactly how much yellow it's capable of canceling out. The two pictures are from the first bleach to after the second bleach and doesn't show the in between, so take it with a grain of salt. That said, I adore the way it turned out, I feel like the lady from atomic blonde.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love This Product this is a very good toner and I highly suggest it to people who want to go platinum blond. if pulled my brassy tones right out of my hair and gave it a nice cool, all over platinum blond. don't leave it in too long and make sure you get the proper developer and you will love the results of this shade.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Could have been better! I bleached my hair at home and after watching tons and tons of videos on how to get the crispest/ most platinum outcome...I chose Wella T18. To be honest, I was kind of let down. It definitely took out some yellow but ultimately I wasn't impressed. I have another bottle so I'll probably try it again but I don't think it lived up to the hype.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent product when used correctly! This is to be used on just colored blonde hair that has a brassy hue to it! Not on your roots that are not colored or a different color! This product always has beautiful results and brings my yellow/orange color to a brilliant light pale blonde. You must mix this as directed and apply only to blonde colored hair. This product only deserves a 5 star rating. Anyone giving it a lesser rating is due to them not using this as it was designed to be used.

I have got red in my hair I need out I am a blonde what could I use on it to life red orange  out

Asked by: Suzyq Dodge
Toner helps tone down the brassiness in your hair but it will not strip existing color from your hair. Consider using a lightener or hair color remover to first remove the red before using a toner or hair color. For professional advice on this product please contact the Wella Help Line 1-866-722-4146. I think I've figured it out, but I just want to double-check. I bleached my dark brown hair, and it's brassy and too yellow. I want it more platinum/ ash blonde. So can I use T18 with a 20 Toner to fix that?

I have natural strawberry blonde hair and I want to lighten it and remove the red undertones. If I bleach it first with bleach + vol 10 developer and then use T18 + vol 10 developer, will this be effective?

Asked by: Ash80985
To get rid of unwanted red there are colors that you can use to cut out red tones , while your coloring the hair...when you bleach you need to use at least 20 volume to lift 10 volume is only for deposit "meaning you're not lifting any color" when you get these toners.. try not to put them on the route and only use 10 volume if you are trying to get rid of unwanted brassiness if you use a 20 volume be prepared to wash out quickly and remember do not touch the roots .. ps: when mixing these toners w dev. ITS NOT EQUAL PARTS ..pls read ins. Inside/on box ...its one part toner 2 parts developer I hope this is helpful to you!!!

Why are people getting orange roots? (Read reviews) and how could I avoid them? Should I use developer vol. 10?

Asked by: Juliana_
They are getting orange roots because 20 volume developers lift color. Use a 10.

I have level five or six red in my hair that has faded to a red orange, I'm trying to remove the red/ orange out of my hair. My biggest concern is that this product says that it is permanent, will it deposit color?

Asked by: C3Conner
Yes toners deposit permanent color
