    Other tips:

    • Always perform a strand and patch test.

    • It is often not necessary to refresh the ends of the hair on every permanent hair color touch-up application.

    •For resistent gray, use NN shades ( 3NN, 5NN, 6NN, 7NN ) with 20 Volume TRUE COLOR™ Developer

•Apply coconut oil (or another barrier cream) around your hairline.

    • Choose a shade 1 level lighter than desired if you are unsure of which shade to use or if you have very few gray hairs.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This color is so nice. Very rich tones so the color doesn't look flat and dull. I used a color close to my natural and it turned out great. Highly recommend [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 5 out of 5 by from WOW. I always dye my own hair and this is top notch. Saturates the hair, doesnt burn, and the color is FLAWLESS. Left my hair shiny and no dry feeling afterward. Highly recommend. Very satisfied! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Personally I liked this brand of hair color but not the sunrise color that I received to try! Its too light for my hair currently. I do like how soft my hair feels [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I used this for the upper portion of my hair and I used another brand to do the bottom half of my hair red. I used the shade 4NN Which is a darker brown but not super dark . used 20 volume developer and kept it on for 25 min. came out with great results and would definitely use this brand again! Rated 5 out of 5 by from I thought it was cool how it had 2 steps to it. It came with 2 boxes, 2 cream developer and a brush and empty plastic mini bowl. I got the color onyx and it was so black! Thats my natural hair color. I would do this again to my hair. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Does it have everything in the box

Asked by: Isabel Niznik
No. You need to buy a developer, a brush to apply, and a plastic bowl to mix.

I used 6N last night with 20 volume developer. It is too dark for my liking. I'd like to use an ash mixed with this for next time. Would that help? What ash color would you recommend? I need to cover grays too.

Asked by: Rachie0504
Using an ash is not the answer to your problem, if anything it could make it appear darker & your grays muddy looking. You need to use a lighter shade, next time try 7N. It still depends on your natural color & how much gray you actually have. An N is good for covering gray, but really need more info.

I am a natural strawberry blonde/ orange and all the colors I try are a brown undertone. Do you have a suggestion for a color match?

Asked by: MelissaCD
I always have the person asking to check if they are cool or warm undertones and start there. The boxes show cool or warm tones too. Browns have both cool or warm. Do your lips have blue or red natural undertones? Put electric blue or true Fire engine red or black next to them for a couple minutes in good lighting. Let your eyes adjust. You can see it. I am medium brown naturally now turned mostly grey and use a cool darkest blonde and leave it in longer. Turns out natural brown for me. You will have to try the three closest or mix them to get what you want. For a while I mixed 2 colors half and half to get the SAME COLOR. I have dyed this head for approx. 30 years now trying to keep the same color. I always find it again when the products are discontinued.

My hair is medium brown.  3 months of grey roots.  What color do u recc

Asked by: Barb1818
I would use a darker shade of brown on the roots and leave it on for 20 to 45 minutes just before you rinse the dye out distribute the color thru whole head for 2 but not more than 5 minutes

Is there a color I can add to this to tone down the orange just a little

Asked by: Gigi1995
I use Crimson Flame ...I'm not having any orange tones...and wouldnt alter this color perfect as is.

I just used 8N color on my roots but gray coverage was imperfect.  I processed for 45 minutes.  Color is the right shade but disappointed to see gray "ghosts" of my roots.  Will 7NN work better?  But it's too dark.  Please advise.

Asked by: akimbo33
I am naturally light blonde and have been using 6NN for a few months. I find that I always have that ghosty effect with my roots after a few washes, and it has me considering other options. 6NN is very a dark walnut brown.

What does PA mean?

Asked by: Niloofar
Pretty sure PA will correct brassy/orange tones. Of course, depends on what your natural hair color is and/or starting hair color. "purplish-ash" = hair will look more natural brown without "reddish/orange hues".
