    • Always read the product packaging and inserts for complete directions, instructions, and warnings, and make sure to perform both the strand test and the patch test before applying your color.

    Other tips:

    • Always perform a strand and patch test.

    • It is often not necessary to refresh the ends of the hair on every permanent hair color touch-up application.

    • For gray, use N shades ( 1N, 2N, 4N, 5N, 6N, 7N, 8N) with 20 Volume TRUE COLOR™ Developer and apply to gray area first.

    •For resistent gray, use NN shades ( 3NN, 5NN, 6NN, 7NN ) with 20 Volume TRUE COLOR™ Developer

•Apply coconut oil (or another barrier cream) around your hairline.

    • Choose a shade 1 level lighter than desired if you are unsure of which shade to use or if you have very few gray hairs.

    • Use an old t-shirt, towel, or coloring cape to protect your clothing.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome Loved how this covered my roots. Didn’t even stain my skin as bad as others. This may be my new favorite brand.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from 5RG Copper Shadows I love this hair dye, but really disappointed that I have the red that I want at the roots of my hair and the rest just went brown. I wanted all my hair to be the red color.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from true color just purchased this today.............I am a retired colorist.......and i thought that this product did exactly what it is suppose to do..............no filling required for tint backs....equaled the porosity and the color was very nice.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Soooo drying and damaging. Used the lines 6 volume developer with this color and my hair was obliterated by these products. Used a whole bottle of reconstructor, a jar of coconut oil and two bottles of deep conditioner and my hair is still breaking off. It is so fragile and dull looking. This colo ruined my hair.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice but not great Provides excellent coverage and my hair was in great condition afterwards. It still pulled a lot of red tone though. Think I will stick with SoyPlex by Clairol

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Frosted lava rock 4BA! 4BA is a Beautiful rich color if only a little dark but a few washes or some vitamin c mixed with head and shoulders can help with that. I also used a 10 developer so that could be why. Between that and the fact that there's not alot of dye in the tube rates it a 4 not 5 star. Still, Can't wait to try other colours in the line!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from True Color I decided to try this and I am very pleased with the results. I purchased 5N Chestnut and used Clairol developer 10. Covered all of my grays and left my hair shiny and soft. Will definitely use this again.

Is this a soy product?. When you changed to soy is when I changed brands. I had used clairol for over 40 years & you lost me.

Asked by: lindasrose
Agree, when Procter and Gamble bought Clairol and changed the formula, I was out. I bought up all the original formula I could find, but eventually had to switch to Ion. Why does P&G have to ruin everything?

What is the tone difference between 10AV and 10CB? Which one would cut down on orange more ?

Asked by: Janelle 57
The AV stands for ash and violet base. The CB stands for cool and beige. If you don't have to cancel out any orange or yellow tones the 10CB is fine as a base colour; if you do have alot of warmth I'd try the 10AV first.

I would like a beige blonde because my hair has a lot of golden in it..so ash turns greenish gray on me and golden blonde makes my hair more golden. What color of the blonde would give me the right color? I have been using the 9N in ION. Thank you.

Asked by: auntbebe
If you like the Ion 9N, then I’d suggest 10AV for toning out the gold tones. Leave on for about 10 mins. and check your color. Leave on for longer to reach your desired shade.

There is no information about the tones of the True Color line. Did you create a new tone chart for it? Does 9GA mean blonde Gold Ash? I can't even guess what 10CB. The employees at Sally's had a Clariol book but it didn't explain either!

Asked by: KayW3204
10 cool blonde to answer your question. Correct me if I'm wrong. I myself would love to try out the 9GA
