  • Cleanses hair of residue & product build-up Won't rob hair of natural moisture Moisturizes as it cleanses
As I Am Curl Clarity Shampoo is a sulfate-free cleanser that gently removes product build-up and environmental impurities from the hair and scalp. It will not strip hair of the precious natural moisture that makes it thrive.

Leaves behind moisture, preventing hair from becoming dried out, rough-looking and unmanageable and is safe for color-treated hair.

After use, your hair will be ready to receive again all of the good things you give it for style and maintenance.
  • Wet hair thoroughly. Gently massage into lather throughout hair and scalp. Rinse well. Repeat as necessary
  • Use intermittently with other As I Am cleansers. Great for use when hair and scalp seems to need a more thorough cleansing.

Make sure to detangle completely during either the shampoo step or the conditioning step, while the hair is soaking wet and saturated with the lather or conditioner. Use a wide toothed comb or, if you prefer, a paddle brush. Only after detangling should you proceed to the final rinse.
  • Key Ingredients: Coconut, Amla and Tangerine

Aqueous (Water, Aqua Purificada, Purified) Extracts: Cocos Nucifera (Coconut)¹ and Phyllanthus Emblica (Amla)¹ and Citrus Reticulata (Tangerine)¹, Sodium Lauroyl Sarcosinate, Cocamidopropyl Betaine, Hydroxypropyl Methylcellulose, Fragrance/Parfum, Citric Acid, Potassium Sorbate, Glucose, Lactoperoxidase, Glucose Oxidase, Limonene.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The best for frizzy hair! If you have hair texture like mine (frizzy, and slightly wavy), products in the vast majority of shampoos will only make it worse. This amazing shampoo is made without humectants, silicones or sulfates which just make matters worse. I have been looking for 10 years and this is the only shampoo that has stopped my hair from getting frizzy in the humid summer air. I use it with a conditioner that is also free of humectants, silicones and sulfates. The people who didn't need give it a good review probably just don't have the same type of hair. I hope they keep making this. Thanks!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love It I use this as a clarifying cleanser, particularly when I don't want to totally strip my hair but still want it to feel clean. I love how it helps me to detangle a bit while washing, love the scent, love the consistency, love the bottle (though a pump on it would make it even better).

Rated 4 out of 5 by from I love this Shampoo I am not sure why some of the reviews have been negative but this shampoo is exceptionally well. It does as it states and clear all of the oils and different products that have been used out of your hair for a squeaky type cleanse. After I use this to was my hair, I use the leave in conditioner which brings back all the moisture to my hair and then the next day I use the Doublebutter cream. I love these products and they work extremely well for me. I dont know what kind of natural hair I have, been natural for going on 2 years, and have not used many products but this one is something I plan to use for a while. Please try it for yourself because everyones hair is different. What might work for me wont work for you and what may not work for you may work for me!! I would recommend at least trying it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Does what it claims... I bought this shampoo with the expectation of finding a Clarifying shampoo that cleansed extremely well without sulfates and this does the job. This is not a moisturizing shampoo. That said I've never found it to be overly drying either. I only use it to wash the first round and then if I still need a second wash I move to the coconut cowash. The cowash is very rich and moisturizing so replenishes any oils/moisture that may have been cleansed away in the Clarifying wash. When I wash with the Clarifying shampoo, I make sure to section in 4 parts and apply the shampoo only at the roots of my hair. I don't mush my hair around so that all of my hair is saturated with shampoo or smooth the shampoo through so it coats all of the strands, there's no need. I massage and cleanse the scalp and roots, then as I'm rinsing I rub straight down the length of the hair while it's under water. The length of the hair is cleansed as it rinses from the scalp and these strands do not get overly cleansed. Once that's rinsed I either use the coconut cowash, or just move on to a deep conditioner to add moisture. Also applying the conditioner in sections and letting it sit for 15 min while steam from the shower helps it do it's magic. I then smooth it through thoroughly and rinse and detangle during that rinse. The hair is usually clean, soft and moisturized. I have dry scalp and this shampoo and method of application does an excellent job of removing scalp residue and product build up. If you don't like overly squeaky clean hair this method and/or shampoo may work for you. You still get the benefits of the clarifying shampoo without it overly saturating all of your hair and causing dryness. This shampoo may not be for everyone, but IMHO the bad rep it gets is not well deserved. It definitely does what it claims and if used sparingly and with a moisturizing follow up, it's pretty close to perfect for the purpose it was intended. For that reason I hope it's not discontinued any time soon. I think As I Am does a great job by providing 3 shampoo options, so everyone has something that suits there needs. If you think the Clarifying is a little too much try the cleansing pudding, it's technically not a clarifying shampoo, but it does cleanse away product build up. I'm not an As I Am rep. I've just been using several of the products for about 3 years now and have had good success with them.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Makes a Matted Mess Nope, stay away. People in the 4 range should definitely stay away. This shampoo should for sure not be recommended for all natural hair types. It was cleansing but way too harsh for most people. It left my hair a matted mess. The whole back of my head shrunk up into a tighter, nappy mess and caused massive breakage when I tried to detangle it with a shower comb. Hair was coming out everywhere, all over the shower, all in my comb...I left the As I Am cowash in for a while afterwards to try to lessen the tangles (which usually works great) then kept using the cowash under the stream of the shower water but the cowash couldn't even solve my problems after using this clarity shampoo. I don't think these harsh types of shampoos should be used for kinkier hair because our hair cannot handle all the tension of trying to detangle extra knots, period. I don't even recall whether my hair felt stripped after because I had cowash in for so long, focusing on getting through the detangling process.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Did what I wanted it to but... I use raw shea butter as a sealant. After a few months I began to notice that my regular sulfate free shampoo wasn't washing away all of the shea butter so instead of leaving my hair soft and manageable my other products would just sit on my hair and it would feel tacky and dry. So I bought the Curl Clarity Shampoo with the hopes getting rid of the product build up without over drying. This shampoo did what my other shampoo couldn't. The product build up was gone but my hair felt chalky and smelled horrid afterward. Luckily one deep condition later along with some moisturizing and sealing my hair felt soft and healthy again. All in all this shampoo did what I needed it to do which was clarify my hair and help my other products work better on my hair again. I'll probably use this once a month or so with my other shampoo to prevent build up but I feel like I could find another clarifying shampoo without that awful smell and chalky residue for a lot less than what I paid for this.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Very Disappointed I have 4B/C natural hair.Buyer Beware! This shampoo has a very unpleasant smell. It does not smell good at all.It leaves hair very dry during and after wash.I would not waste money buying this product again.I am only using up the rest of this product only because it cost so much.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from It is good for transitioning stage I bought this product thinking it will not be like the other shampoos. But I was wrong, It dries out my hair and leaves it tangled. It is ok when I was transitioning from perm to natural but it is not good once you are natural, it strips my hair too much since I don;t use a lot of oil in my hair now. SO it depends on what stage the person is using this product.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Harsh I love the As I Am line. The Leave-In Conditioner, Coconut Co-Wash, Hydration Elation, and Curling Jelly are some of my all-time favorite products. Unfortunately, this clarifying cleanser severely dries out and tangles my hair to the point where I had some breakage. I think this cleanser is highly effective, but I don't use heavy duty silicones or oils regularly, so I probably don't have enough build-up for this not to be drying.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Stripped My Hair This product didn't meet my expectations at all. It left my hair really stripped and sooo dry. I have 4b/c hair type and I need a shampoo that will moisturize my hair while cleaning. Don't buy this product. : (

Rated 1 out of 5 by from not for me I just purchased this product and I read lots of reviews. However, it was not for me. My hair felt hard and hard to get my fingers through. I am going to get the cowash and see how that goes .

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Pretty Alright I'm giving this product 3 stars because it didn't leave my hair as soft as I would have liked it too. However, it did feel clean and not stripped like some other shampoos. I have medium length 4b hair that is healthy but gets very dry and needs lots of moisture. I think this whole line is a bit pricey however I do LOVE the coconut co-wash. So far it is the only one I will keep buying. (I've tried this shampoo, the smoothing gel, the leave in conditioner and the coconut co-wash) You can read my reviews on the other products. Hope this helps!
