Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poor Customer Satisfaction I ordered this product waited a month for delivery then finally got a response that my order had been cancelled. I was never notifed of this and if anyone knows about touching up your hair l waited and waited looking crazy for nothing. I will NEVER ORDER FROM YOU AGAIN! The only explaination i got was due to high order volume orders were being delayed because of this I wasted time on an order that was never fullfilled! I will just stick with amazon they handle order volume just fine.

Where on the tub can I find the date of manufacture or the date of expiry for the relaxer?

Asked by: Nickybba
Nicky, I still have the same large Mild tub I purchased online 2 years ago! I keep mine under the Master Bathroom sink. Haven't had any problems whatsoever. When someone answered this same question for me 2 years ago, she said the Sodium Hydroxide (lye) gets stronger with time. I texlax my hair every 4 months; October, February, and June, new growth only (just retouched yesterday). I set my timer for 20 minutes start to finish, smoothing only once. It still doesn't get bone straight, and comes out perfect!

How often does this need to be done? Is it good for one day or a few weeks?

Asked by: lauraj5500
This type of product is not for those who have no knowledge of hair chemistry. I suggest having a professional do your first relaxer. The frequency of application depends on your individual hair growth and how long you can stand your hair not having straight roots. I only do touch ups every 8-10 weeks on new growth at the ROOTS ONLY, because my hair is already relaxed. If you have virgin hair, e.g., no chemicals of any kind, you would apply it to all of your hair the first time. You need to use a good neutralizing shampoo (NOT a regular shampoo) after rinsing the relaxer out of the hair (use very warm water and several rinses), otherwise the chemical will continue to straighten the hair, causing it to eventually break off or fall out. If you do not know how to use this chemical, do not do it. Maintenance: do not apply relaxer to the entire length of your already-relaxed hair each time you do a relaxer (this process is called a touch-up), as damage will be the result. You should NEVER overlap the application of relaxer on previously relaxed hair! I see women missing hair at their temples and with bald patches: the result of poor relaxer technique (or too-tight braids).

I just bleached my hair yesterday is there a certain amount of days, weeks, or time that I need to wait before doing something like straightening my hair at home?

Asked by: LenaLena
You usually don't want to use products like this on bleached or damaged hair. It is recommended that you wait 3-4 weeks to process your hair any further to avoid it falling out.

From the month/year of your purchase, can someone please give an expiration date of the large tub. I CANNOT find the Mild anymore on the ground and debating when I need to order the tub for use in April, first week. Thanks in advance for any replies.

Asked by: Chelley803
I was just browsing and saw your question and while I can't give a specific answer, I can tell you that sodium hydroxide based relaxers get stronger with age while ammonia based relaxers get weaker with age.

i bought this mild relaxer of silk elements with shea butter. I bought a 4lb tub of it. do I need to buy a activator or is it ready mixed? I am very confused. I was hoping that I would put the relaxer in my hair and use a neutralizing shampoo that I have.

Asked by: blackgirl25
That is correct, it's already mixed..the lye version. Just neutralize VERY WELL!

Are the smaller sizes of the Mild formula no longer available?

Asked by: City of Memphis
I have been to several Sally Beauty Supply stores and even called stores while traveling between SC, NC, and GA with NO Mild in stores. I bought a small jar of the regular to keep on standby just  in case April rolls around and I can't  find one. I really don't  want the Mild in a large tub since I only  relax every 6 months. Did you ever find it on the ground, or did you order Online?

I have been using silk elements megasilk (mild) formula since 2010. I was using the (regular) formula before then but I'm allergic to permanent hair color, found a hair color without ppd. and I had to switch the (mild) formula, need 15oz. size.
