Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love these!! I love this brand :) The Gemstones color line came out when I decided to go back to my natural color (I have dark Asian hair) to allow my hair to heal. On a whim last year, I decided I wanted to do an "Evil Sea Queen" looking color on the ends of my hair. I bleached twice to get desired lightness. My hair turns light golden yellow when bleached so maybe that's why I've had luck with Jade. This line lasts much longer in my hair than the Brights. I have used Jade and it took months to fade. I had to bleach it again so I could change the color to Sky Blue (Brights). That lasted a month or so when mixed with Tanzanite (Gemstones). The Jade is so strong that it can still be seen a little, the ends of my hair are currently a dark greenish blue that fades into a darker blue.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from One of the worst hair dyes I’ve used. I purchased the Garnet from the gem stone collection. I applied this to my hair, roots first and then worked my way down. (I have hair past my shoulder blades.) I left the product in for 60 minutes after I had finished applying it before washing it out. It did not deposit any kind of color onto my roots. It deposited color onto hair that had been previously dyed months before but not even a hue of a difference on my roots. The new growth was the whole reason why I was using this product in the first place. I will definitely be returning this. I.e: It works on previously treated hair but will not work on growth or untreated hair.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Stays forever! I mixed sapphire and jade and applied to platinum-bleached hair after using a Beyond the Zone clarifying solution. Let it set for about an hour, and used the ion after color sealer after rinsing. That was in September. It’s now February and my hair is still a brilliant blue-teal color. I believe the “Sapphire” has stayed in my hair moreso than the Jade. for about a month I had a lovely deep blue, true to the tube. As it has faded (I wash my hair every other day with sulfate free products) , it has become a very pretty cerulean type of blue, and it’s still very bright! I’m actually worried that I won’t be able to get rid of it in time for graduation in May!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Jade :( Definitely not jade. It's blue... not even slightly green :(

Rated 1 out of 5 by from DIssapointed I love ion color brilliance. But I just fought to get rid of blue and I wanted green. So I got the temporary dye to try and it was what I wanted so I went to the store bought the jade semi permanant and it came out blue. Dark blue. I am so sad

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Horrible product I have never had a worst hair color in my hair including boxed colors in my life. I don’t usually write reviews but this outcome was so horrible I feel that I would be wrong not to let future buyers know about my experience. I purchased rose quartz and I read a couple reviews saying how it didn’t deposit color on to their hair. I thought that’s not so bad I’ll give it a try what’s the worst that’ll happen? So after bleaching my roots and toning the brass out which was an all day project I put this in my hair. Btw my hair was beige blonde. So I used this the first time and my hair came out like an orangy brass color instead of rose gold like I hoped. So after spending all day getting brass out of my hair this color deposited even more brass in my hair. VERY UPSET. Others may have a different outcome but I will never buy this brand again!!!!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from It was fun I purchased this hair color in GARNET. This line was recommended to me by a friend and I was really looking for a change in hair color. I was all prepared and expecting this color to do so much damage to my hair. Not only was the color beautiful when I got done processing it my hair felt so wonderful!!!! It was like not only did I color it but it was the best deep conditioner. The only downside to this was that I did have to redo my relaxer about a week later. The first go round did not take like it was supposed to. So needless to say the relaxer did strip out some of my colors. But it came out to this cute pinkish red color too so I am happy. I will definitely be using it again I even recommended it to my mom to help cover some grays. I want to buy the clear option as well for the grate conditioning.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Jade The shade “Jade” isn’t what I would describe as jade at all. It’s more of an aqua color rather than a deep green. I found the product overly thick and the results came out uneven. Also, unlike most direct dyes it wasn’t very conditioning. It’s worth it to spend a few more dollars for a better quality dye.

I dyed my hair a dark red color at a salon a month ago and decided to do it my self.. I used the semi- permanent Garnet and it didn't hold on to my roots.. My roots are light brown with some grey.. Any ideas how to fix this? Besides that my hair looksfan.

Asked by: Carrie1976
Not sure as I started to have this problem as well. Was using this dye for over a year with no issues then all the sudden it wouldn't hold at my roots anymore.

I have dark almost black hair already . I am going for a blue black color. What color should I use ? Also my roots are about an inch do I dye those first or start from the bottom

Asked by: Panda bear
Tanzanite by Ion gemstones could be good. It's more of an indigo color but fades into a blue. With dyeing, it's not important where to start so you could just splat dye on your hair and it'd look the same as if you started/ended with your roots.

I just colored my hair and it did not cover the gray. My hair is colored with pravana, so basically my roots are all that’s gray. It didn’t cover it at all. I left it on for 40 mins. can I do the roots again and for how long ?

Asked by: Crystalpah
It would be best to wait a week or so because your hair may have soaked in as much dye as it's going to right now so doing it again so soon may be a waste of product. For dyes like these (direct semi-permanent), you can leave them on for hours without causing damage. I like to leave them on for 1+ hours.

When you wash the dye out , do you just use water or should you shampoo as well ?

Asked by: Lauryn13
It is always best to use only water. Semi-permanent dye fades faster each time you wash your hair so if you want it to last longer, you'll have to wash your hair less often.

I have grey hair want a color streak. I want to use Ion brights do I use 40 volume peroixde?

Asked by: hopeful21
Ion Brights are a direct semi-permanent dye. This means that you don't have to mix anything with the dye unless you want to mix colors or to lighten it. Developer is mostly used for lighteners or toners and even then a 40 developer is way too high. If your grey is light enough, all you will need to do is put the dye directly onto the hair then rinse it out with cool water when the level of color you want is reached.

If I pre-soften my naturally silver white grey hair, will the semi - permanent color last truer longer when fading out.

Asked by: Tanzanite Fan
Yes, it should. However it still may be lighter than expected. Either add a drop of a darker color or leave it on a little longer than instructed. You can also add moderate heat for 1/2 the processing time.

What’s the difference between sapphire and tanzanite?

Asked by: Ashley536
Tanzanite is a dark purple that fades to a pretty blue. Sapphire is a blue that fades to a teal blue green. Both are stunning in the sunshine.

I have similar hair and the "rose quartz" shade (I think it has its own listing) works great for me!
