Rated 5 out of 5 by from Clear is a good bet. Not sure about the colors. I bought the clear. It stayed on fairly long without chipping. I liked it so much that I decided to buy a colored version (from another website). Unfortunately, the colored version kept bubbling on my nails. The clear version was just fine. Not sure why.

The treatment and colors, I like more of natural looks..just wondering how the pinks(not much of a pink person) and nudes look when on the nail itself? I have issues when I buy a color if I buy colors, they NEVER look like the do on the bottle?

Asked by: Shannon47
I love t he Orly nail color. It looks like the color in the bottle on, at least I feel it does.

I keep trying to select the color "Happy and Healthy" from the drop-down but it won't change to show anything except "Pamper Me," the first one shown. I can select others, and they show up, but that one will not. What's going on with the list?

Regarding ORLY Breathable Treatment nail polish, Do I have to prepare my nails first before using the nail polish? Also, do I need a top coat?

Asked by: pandasmum
No base coat or top coat needed, cutting your manicure time in half. Use 1 coat of Breathable Treatment & Shine as a shine booster over any Breathable Treatment & Color.

what are the bad things to worry about with gel polish? I have been doing to the nail salon for it and I feel like I'm damaging my nails! They are long and strong, but have black marks in my nail bed, long vertical marks. Is this bruising?

Asked by: SusanInFLA
Could be bruising, especially if your nail tech is getting a little "ham handed" with a Dremel. But, it depends on exactly what layer or layers of the nail bed are affected. What kinds of colors are you using? Is the tech using a base coat of any kind to keep dark pigments from staining the nail? If not, and you're using relatively dark toned colors, especially blacks, Navy blues, really deep reds or greens, and also using a Dremel in longitudinal strokes from the cuticle to the tip, then uneven pressures could actually be digging narrow "channels" in your nail bed and allowing the polish pigments to embed in the nail tissue, and not being thoroughly removed when changing colors. It might take a magnifying glass or even a 10X jeweler's loupe to get a clear look at your nails to see exactly what's going on and at what level. If you're really being bruised, then you have the right to do one of four things. 1) Go to a different salon; 2) Go to the same salon, but get someone else to do them; 3) Go to the same salon, same tech, but refuse the Dremel in prepping, and request that they use a buffer block instead; 4) Do them yourself after buying up the necessary equipment. Expensive, and takes lots of practice! Bruising the nail bed usually begins at the nail base under the cuticle, and real bruising under the nail bed comes from noticeable trauma, usually causes pain from the pressure formed by the build-up of blood and tissue fluids under the nail. If you've ever bruised a toenail, you probably know that it causes blackness under the entire nail, not in streaks, and causes a great deal of pain when touched. My husband has had a Mechanic's impact wrench fall on his foot before from waist level, and since he doesn't wear steel toed shoes, got a large amount of bleeding under his big toenail, with the associated pain that comes with it. We had to go to the Immediate Care Center to have a hole put in the nail plate to relieve the pressure. It wasn't fun to do, because they talked him out of having it numbed first, since they were laboring under the delusion that it should be painless because the nail itself has no nerves. Unfortunately, when she burned the hole through it, it must have touched the "meat" underneath, because he almost kicked her in the face when he jumped from the pain! It took a long time to grow that dark nail out, but it finally did. I can't imagine any reason to use anything stronger than a buffing block and a liquid nail dehydrator of some kind (maybe) to prep a natural nail for the polish, even if it is for gel polish.
