Rated 5 out of 5 by from GREAT value It doesn’t last quite as long as getting them done at the salon, but they look AMAZING and if you have the time and energy to put into it you will be very happy! Still last about a week to a week and a half:)

Rated 1 out of 5 by from This product is a joke. Bought this along with a few other gelish products to test the waters. I can’t believe I spent that much money, it’s a scam honestly. Just buy the polish and prep/removal products separate. The LED lamp is horrible, and very VERY weak. It can’t even properly cure the foundation, or the polish. Honestly I have a $5 backup lamp that works better than this. I’m not a licensed professional, but I know nail products like it’s nobodies business. Please stay away from this.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Review with tips and I love it! It is definitely a tedious process but I’m a cosmetologist so it isn’t hard. It takes a bit of practice to make sure that you don’t accidentally put polish over your cuticle. If you do, the gel polish will lift and peel. I never was able to get my gel polish to last more than a week so it wasn’t worth spending the money at a salon. This is definitely worth it as I already paid off the investment since I’ve done my nails 3 times. It probably will only last a week to ten days but I naturally have more oily nails to begin with. I think most people will be able to get more time out of it. I’m very happy with this purchase! I love Gelish brand more than any other professional brands.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poor performance I am returning this TODAY! I have tried this three times. The first go around was fine. But the second & third resulted in grand disappointment. The polish peels off in sheets. One day I showed up for work with an entire nail missing polish that I had applied the night before. I followed all directions & applied all products as directed. I’m hoping an upgraded model will improve the lackluster performance of this easy bake oven gel kit. Ugh!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great starter kit I got this about a month ago, and I’m glad I did.. I was iffy about it because it has both good and bad reviews.. the directions it came with aren’t very detailed( I didn’t even see them at first, but they were on the side of the box) it wasn’t a big deal I just watched a couple of YouTube videos. If you prep your nails and do everything you’re supposed to do before and after it works fine.. I saw a lot of reviews saying the light didn’t cure the nail and it was still sticky. You have to wipe the nail with the nail cleanse after you are done curing the top coat.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Overall Product is great, there's a couple tools inside I wasn't familiar with, a paper insert with detailed instructions and direction of use would be helpful.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I like it I love this, I would prefer if it came with a no wipe top coat, but the regular gel top coat is fine too. It came with a red and a sparkly red, so it seems like they pick them at random, I usually make a nice nail design using regular nail polish and use the base and top coat to seal it all up

Can you still use this machine if you just want to put gel clean coat Will it Work? Or do you need to do the whole thing?

Asked by: Stacia319
Hi Stacia319, I am assuming that by a "gel clean coat" you mean a clear coat. Anytime you are using gel polish it is important to follow all of the steps for any gel manicure. So in that case you would prep your nails by cleaning, trimming, and buffing. Then clean with the nail cleanser. Apply pH Bond. Then apply your Foundation, cure. Then apply your top coat, cure. Then clean the nail again with the nail cleanser. So, yes, you still have to follow the normal steps you would for a color manicure. Kind Regards, Laura

My gel polish does not last two weeks.  It peels off sometimes the same day?  What am I doing wrong? I try to cover the nail tips with both color and top coat.

Asked by: Dawn1974
I was a nail technician for 20 years. A few BIG things you have to do th prep the nails PRIOR to applying anything! First, soak the cuticle (preferably the night before), push them back and trim the excess. Shape the nail, lightly buff them and then DEHYDRATE! I this seems counterproductive, dry my nail beds out?! YES! Use the surface cleanse on either a cotton ball or make up pad. Let them dry well. Thin coats are a must! Do not get too close to the cuticle, as this WILL cause lifting of the product from the back. Cure per instruction, then liberally wipe off tacky layer w a cotton ball soaked in 99% isopropyl alcohol!!!!!! Only 99% will do the job! Hope this helps!

how manicures can i expect out of the Gelish mini starter kit

Asked by: Marjoree
I have had my kit for two and a half years. I did buy more polish but I still have the original colors. I do my nails and my mom's nails about every two weeks. My girls used it occasionally until I bought each one of them a kit. If a normal manicure is $30 this has paid for itself a 100 times over.

I just got this kit but i want to know. I can see brush strokes after 2 coats and a few have little bumpy spots please help

Asked by: Kellyescat
I always push my cuticles back and scrub my nails with warm water and soap before I apply. I don't have the air bubble problem. As for the streaks, try putting on a thin layer first and then a thicker layer. You could always apply a third layer. Hope it helps a bit.

Yes, I was in the same position and I'm glad I bought this.  I'd highly recommend watching a few YouTube videos on how to do it because you'll be better informed than just reading instructions.

Darrrraah The polish you use are ones that I have also but can you use these with Gelish stuff in the kit.  Thank you for answering truthfully.  I have so many of  OPI, China Glaze, etc and hate to throw them out.

Asked by: Mary1943
I mix/match and have never had a problem. You can use regular polish, but it must be totally dry. Do NOT use lamp to dry it, lamp will only dry Gel Products. Let regular polish air dry then use a Gel Top Coat to make your manicure shine & last days longer.

What is the wattage of the lights? Is it battery or electric?

Asked by: Jus me n you
I can't answer the wattage of the lights but it must be pretty minimal because the kit comes with an electric cord that has a USB plug adapter. I have always plugged mine into the wall but my daughter has used hers by plugging it into her computer USB port and it worked great.

can you use any other nail polish or just gelish??

Asked by: Mary1943
I do my Gelish Foundation ,  clear Gelish Polish and the Gelish Top it off. After curing those, I use OPI Infinite Base, ANY BRAND of colored polish and OPI Gloss top coat. This way you can use your different brands of colored polish and it can be removed and changed, without damaging the  Gelish coatings. I work a job where we're not supposed to have colored polish, so I can still get the benefits of the Gel coating to protect & grow my nails but change my polish colors.

Could this work for pedicures as well? Maybe just depends on the size of a person's foot size? ;)

Asked by: McKenzie
I guess it would depend on the width of the toes. My daughter does her toes just fine. I have not tried mine. BTW, we have had our lights over a year, use it often and they still work great. Money well spent.

What is the difference between the two starter kits other than the price? I'm trying to invest in a decent gel starter kit, but I'm not sure which one to choose. There are so many and I'm not sure of the differences. PLS HELP!
Asked by: Anonymous
Honestly I would say the name. You are going to pay more for Gelish because it is more known. I bought the ASP kit and love it. The light is bigger and can cure all 5 nails in 30 seconds. I have mixed the Gelish polishes with the ASP base and top coat and it works just fine. The ASP polish works just as well as the Gelish in my opinion but I buy a variety of different brand polishes due to my color preferences.

LED Light

How does the LED curing light in this kit compare to the Gelish LED Pro Light listed for $74.95. Is it the same exact light?

I was wondering the same thing before I bought this. I googled the product numbers and found that it is the same light. You just get it at a better price in the package than you do on it's own.
