Rated 1 out of 5 by from Didn't even last for 30 minutes I love the ASP colors so I thought I would give the whole line a shot. Didn't even last 30 minutes before the polish on my index finger popped off. Not peeled just popped off. Thought I did something so I painted the nail again. But the very next day the thumb and pinkie popped off. going back to OPI

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Gel base It does not stay on your nails long. Meaning within one week it started to peel.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Did not cure! I was in a hurry to find a gel base. Sally's had the ASP available. Application was easy and smooth. But, it would not cure. Cured for 30 seconds as recommended, was still wet. Cured for 1 minute, still wet. Cured for 30 more seconds. Still wet. Removed it immediately and completed my nails without using a base. Will be returning this product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product I was a nail tech for 15 yrs. also when gel nails first came out. I retired 10 yrs ago. My nails have always been super paper thin (not due to acrylics). I use at least 2 coats of the ASP base coat only...no color. First making sure my nails are super clean with alcohol. I'm very happy with the product. Though I only like short nails, I can't say how it would hold up on long nails. I can tell you from years of experience with many products, you shouldn't apply it too thick. If you try to make your nails appear to have a nice arch by building up the center of your nail bed, hence stopping the natural growth of your own nail, you will make your nail pull away from the the nail bed creating a terrible painful dry pealing under the free edge of the nail. If this happens, you may be applying too many coats. Instead of removing it, just file down the thickness. Then buff it out for a nice sheen.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 1st Timer I used the whole kit and thus far it has lasted four days. Maybe you guys aren't applying it correctly. Or you're putting the polish on too thin.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poor Quality Tried this base coat instead of Gelish foundation (trying to save a couple bucks) and the gel completely peeled off in one piece on EVERY FINGER within a couple days. I guess you get what you pay for. Will definitely be returning.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Chips immediately This polish is extremely weak, its almost like water. My no chip started chipping immediately after I used this. I am hoping to get a refund and returning this item today!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Solid Base Coat I use this base coat to do "Gelcrylic/Acrygel" nail application. It lasts several weeks and helps keep my nails from breaking.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Lasts 2 Days I never write reviews but felt the need to with this product. It literally lasted 2 days. I was using Red Carpet before (which is the same price) and it's excellent. Don't waste your money on this, worse than regular nail polish.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Negative Reviews must be doing it wrong.. This is a great base coat and a great price. If you properly prep your nails, file cleanse ph bonder (I used gelish's or just rubbing alcohol), and have the correct light and everything, then this should work for you. I didn't even use ASP colors after the base coat! Lasted me 2 weeks :) don't be afraid of the reviews! If it doesn't work for you sally's has a good return policy

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Ruined my nails I got the top coat and base coat for Christmas and was very excited to use them on my nails. I usually get my nails done and they use the gelish or opi base coat which usually lasted about 2-3 weeks. I used this with a gelish color and it literally peeled off in one piece within 4-5 days. And it left my nails weak and very thin. They almost were so thin that they were sore. My nails had grown so much from previously getting them done with gel polish but as soon as I used this base coat they all broke and became brittle. The top coat in my opinion is pretty good quality but the base coat ruined my nails.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from No good and it's a bear to remove. You should definitely find a quality base and top coat otherwise even after soaking in acetone, you'll need to scrape the heck out of your nails to remove the polish. I eventually switched to Gellish and then subsequently to OPI. What I noticed when I switched (to either of the aforementioned brands) was after soaking in acetone for 10 minutes, the polish bubbled off of my nails and if I did need to scrape residual polish off, it was easy to remove. That did NOT happen with the ASP brand. Do yourself a favor and find a brand that soaks off easily. ASP does not.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Bummer I have been using gelish base coat for a couple of years and my nails always last at least a week and a half. I have used ASP gel color and was happy with the results, so when I ran low on foundation and top coat, I thought I would try the ASP base coat because I liked their color and they had a great sale. I have done my nails twice now, each time with entire nails worth of gel peeling off at a time after a couple of days. Same process I have always used, with the only change being the ASP base and top. Really disappointed.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not my favorite I've been using Gelish Foundation base coat. I bought the ASP to try a different brand and it was about half the price. The ASP is very thin. I like being about to manipulate the thicker formula better. I will be returning ASP base coat.

Is that the one you put on before you put the gel polish on

Asked by: Teri2354
Yes! Apply the base coat and put it under the UV lamp for 1 minute. Then apply your color coat and do the same thing with the lamp (1 minute) after each coat of color polish. Then finish up with a top coat and put your nails under the UV lamp for 2 minutes to totally dry and seal your manicure!  Tip: When you apply the top coat, look at your nails under the UV lamp. The top coat gives off a neon color in the blue light - make sure that color is over your entire nail. If you missed a spot, simply put on the Top Coat there. This has helped my manicures last for weeks!

is this the coat that they put on before the polish? Is the clear top coat different the the base coat?

Asked by: jessicagw
Yes, this is the first coat that you will apply before the colored polish. You will apply this, cure your nails for one minute, then you will apply your color coat. (Repeat until you are happy with the color.) You will also need the Top Coat polish. These two products are not the same, it is separate. You shouldn’t use the Base Coat polish as a Top Coat.

I put my black gel polish before anything to my nail, then I tried to use this asp base at last but my lamp didn’t dry it. I tried for at least 5 min but it didn’t dry it at all. I’m trying to know the reason for this. It dried my gel polish but not this.

Asked by: Pamela28
I'm not sure why it wouldn't dry, but this is not a top coat, it is a base coat. You should use this product on bare nails, after you have prepped them properly.

Ok how many steps are they cause it says step 3

Asked by: La Gorda
There’s like five steps. One is the nail prep, then the second is the ph bonder, then third is this one, then fourth is the polish then fifth is the top coat.

I'm wondering if the people who left bad reviews are trained nail techs who understand proper nail prep/application and if they used this after applying the bonder (step 2) and are still having problems with retention? I've noticed some other great review

Asked by: Curious30
I am not a trained nail tech but followed the directions and have no complaints in using this product or the results.  Have reordered several times .

do you have to use the uv lamp for this product

Asked by: hdean23
It will cure in both types of lamp- LED or UV, but you must use a lamp. This will not air dry.
