Rated 5 out of 5 by from IT WORKS!!!! I have very long, very thick, 2Cish “Mixed Chick” hair and I love adding color. I have a few years of permanent and rinse colors going on, on my head. I grey horribly and way too often so I’m always adding color to cover up. This is the 3rd color removal probuct I’ve used (Pravano is horribly fonkey and didn’t work for me and BTZ was “ok”) So HAPPY I gave this product a try. TRUST ME if it works on my hair it will more than likely work for you. I used 1 box and I broke it up into 3 steps - I couldn’t believe there was enough product (my length is pass the middle of my back) The last round I did feel the tingling in my scalp very early and I knew I wouldn’t be able to leave it on the full 20 min. Anyway well worth the try!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Did what it said it would do! It did exactly what it said it would do. Easy to apply. After I removed the old color, I used a toner to get my new growth color in.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Horrible This stuff not only smells like rotten eggs but it’s didn’t even take the dye out of my hair its took my purple that had started to fade away and turned it dark blue then after I put the lotion on it then it went to this bright purple in some spots it only lifted on my natural hair so now I have blondish roots with patchy purple hair

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Did exactly what I wanted I had been box dying my hair different shades of browns and even blacks for a couple years and this product made my hair turn to a yellow/bronze blonde colour with one use. I did not use step 3. And then I used a magenta permanent hair dye on top after and my hair turned out a lovely red/magenta. Definitely recommend but just don’t use step 3. And it did not damage my hair. Just use a deep conditioner and make sure you don’t have freshly washed hair before using it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works better than expected! I used one application of Colorfix and it lightened my hair to a color I haven’t seen in a few years! I’ve used box color for so long and never realized what I was doing to my hair. Eventually my hair looked almost black and new colors just wouldn’t take. Granted my hair is now an odd shade of red but I’m okay with that because, well... it isn’t one shade shy of black. I didn’t use Step 3 because I know there are color molecules left in my hair. I intend to use an Ion permanent dye since I am a 29-year-old that is going gray. The one thing I will say is be prepared for a nasty smell. The box says “No unpleasant odor” but that is totally false. I don’t know of anyone who thinks that the smell of rotten eggs is pleasant. If anything, it smells like a horrid perm. Nevertheless, good product!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product will use no other I have gone from so many colors and i get bored in one day I change my hair from one color back to its blonde original state same day. people ask me hows my hair not damaged well thanks to colorfix or the argan oil one now, it works great I only use step 1 and 2 NOT 3 because 3 will re darken the hair. Also do NOT recommend for ions non permanent colors either because it will only stip top main color and leave you with the base color I tried the ion orchid purple and my hair went from purple to a pastel green and blue base. It’s only really good for a permanent hair colors. I have attached pics of some colors ive gone and in 2 orn3 days i get bored and color remove it back to the blonde. my most recent was a permanent pastel pink i did 4 days ago got bored decided to change it so pic on right side of pink is the color removal results from last night and the wendys red on bottom i had on for one week and the blonde result next to it was reversed in one day as well i the mood middle colors are also colors ive used but cant find the one day blonde color to it. hope this helps out.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works well for permanent dyes All the bad reviews on this product are pretty much from people who had semi or demi dyes or a myriad of colourful direct tint, this stuff is meant for permanent dye and it says so in the instructions, reading these reviews almost made me give up on trying this product, until I read other reviews from people who had permanent colour. I had bleached hair - pretty much white - and I decided I wanted to go darker, so I kept dying my hair because the colour just wouldn't hold (too much damage/processing), I dyed it with Power Copper and it turned bleach blonde after a few washes! After many attempts and the dyes slowly staying, I used Ion's liquid permanent in 5N (kudos to them for making a dye that will not fade no matter how much you try). I tried Vitamin C twice to fade the dye, which did nothing, then I tried a popular colour remover brand, which I've used before and worked, but this time it lifted and the moment I got in the shower to wash the product out, I could see my hair re-oxidizing , so it was back to brown, and no, it wasn't from not washing for long enough, my hair got darker as the water ran through it! So for the next step I purchased two packages of Colorfix, I got two uses out of one package, it's way creamier than other colour removers, and it doesn't smell as bad because the Step 2 has a nice scent that kinda masks the rotten egg smell, so if you think this smells bad, I hope you never try any other colour removers! The first round made my hair a bright blonde, surprisingly with not a lot of orange and red, I was happy until I washed it, again, more reoxidizing RIGHT AWAY, so I did a second round, got some lift, washed, and it reoxidized some more. This has nothing to do with the product, the product works GREAT and will remove stubborn colour, I'm just sharing my personal experience, I'm also starting to suspect that perhaps the extremely hard water where I live has something to do with the colour instantly coming back.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent remover for permanent color I went from dark brown with layers of dye to silver. This stuff is silky and easy to use. And I’ve used a few. This removes only the dye, it doesn’t lighten your own natural color, and won’t work on temporary dyes. It does what it says, and If I ever have to do it again I will use this.

I used Splat no bleach Midnight indigo color on New Years eve, and I want my red back. Has anyone else used this to remove splat no bleach colors? Please help, I want the blue OUT NOW!

Asked by: Barroness13
I do not think this will work for your purposes. Many reviewers pointed out that this product does not work on direct dies. That being said, I have not tried it for this application. I have had success removing color with clarifying shampoo. I hope this helps!

I have naturally brown hair, not too light, not too dark. A “professional” cosmetologist attempted to do blue but completely ruined it so to cover it I did black, and well, I hate the black. Will this work on my hair? If not what will?

Asked by: kiarene1
by no means am i a professional. i believe it will work. i tried it on my hair which was blue, then grey, then rose pink and it left my hair like a honey blonde. good luck be sure to apply coconut hair to hair for at least to hours prior to applying this product.

I think I have decided to stop coloring my hair and let the natural gray be my color. My hair is the nice white gray, no yellowing. How will this work to remove YEARS of dark brown coloring. My hair is very healthy and grows very fast. Thank you!

Asked by: Italian10
It works great at taking the color out but in order for you to match it to your color of the gray you will have to get a toner or color that matches it.  The employees at Sally's are great at finding the right color.  I did the very same thing and I only had to use the new color once.  Now I am not coloring at all, which is very nice.

Does this product work for demi permanent colors? I dyed my bleached hair with ion demi dark natural brown. It comes out too dark almost black and shine brown in the sun. I want to strip the dark brown and dye a lighter brown color.

Asked by: Laurasam
Yes the color remover does work. Since I have long blonde hair I used two boxes. From deep golden blonde to light blonde. If your hair is black I would says you need more than one treatment.

I have thick hair that stops about 2-3 inches after my shoulders, would 1 or 2 boxes be enough?

Asked by: cindy267
I have very thick hair as well and it goes down to mid-back. I only needed one box to do all of my hair.

My hair is naturally a light auburn. I had been getting it dyed for a year and it was basically blonde all over. Then I decided I wanted to go back to my natural hair color and she dyed it back. Will this make it blonde again?

Asked by: Maggslaine
Color Fix is designed to remove the added toner or tint and create a hair follicle texture more able to accept the new color. this will vary from client to client, depending on their damaged hair follicle and condition.

My natural hair color is a medium brown and it got it bleached to turn it  blond . I recently dyed it and used a medium natural brown hair dye which made my hair black . I want to remove it will this product work and what color will it turn into ?

Asked by: Sidney01
I had box dyed black hair prior to my blue hair, and when I used this to lift some of the color it made it lighter, but I still ended up having to bleach it twice (not recommending) to get it light enough and it still had orange tones to it. It’s not going to lift it a lot since your hair is so dark, but it does help.

If I used a green/blue semipermanent dye over my brown hair (no bleaching) will this product only remove the blue/green color or will it strip the brown out of my natural color?
