Its good.
Good hook for the curlers, but dont add too much hair. It will get caught in the curler.

Love this, but breaks easily.
I bought one a few months ago, and it broke after a few weeks. I bought another one but THAT broke too! I gave up and finally just taped it. I hope it works.

Instore vs online
I love this product, it works so well on my daughter`s stick-straight hair, easy for even a 6 year old to sleep in. I was frustrated with the situation I found myself stuck in at the time I purchased my Curl Formers set. Every single store in the state of Utah had the curlers and not one had any hooks!!! The curlers are useless with out the hook! I guess I understand why they are sold separately but I was very upset that the supplier didn`t make enough or had trouble shipping them to their stores...I don`t know what the problem was but it was sure a great inconvenience! I thought it was weird that it was available online but not in any store. So I ended up paying $17 (rush shipping...I was holding out for the store to supply it again) for a product that only retails at about $4 that I could have picked up at a local store!

Not so bad...
Although I & this hook were not in good terms the first few passes through my hair, I realized what the problem was, fixed it and its working great now. The grip at the end is much needed especially with the slippery/wet hands I have when setting the curlformers on. My hook came in the kit & was a bit defective, there was a small cut in the plastic at the very top of the hook where the hair would get hooked on, I took a pair of hair shears & carved/scraped the little piece off smoothly....no more snag! The price is also fair.

How do you use this to form curls?
This must be used with Curlformers, Sally carries multiple options in sizes.
You must feed the Curlformer onto the hook, with the hook facing upwards. Place the section of hair in the hook, then withdraw the hook. Dry the hair, remove the Curlformer and you have a perfect curl!

You put the hook thru the curlformer sleeve, hook onto your hair and pull the hair thru the sleeve.

No, it does not close. That's why it is shaped with the hook also near the handle. To let the curlformers slide onto the hair without snagging.
