What is the difference between gels and acrylics?

Gels- also called hard gels- and acrylics are similar in that they both can be used to extend the length of the nails and make them stronger, but gels and acrylics are chemically different, and are applied differently to nails. The application you choose should be determined by your nail type, lifestyle and activities. One advantage of gel services is that they are odorless. Like acrylic, gels can be applied over the natural nail or over artificial nail tips. While hard gels are just as durable as acrylics, generally hard gels are easier to file and shape.
