Falling for Color
Update your eye makeup for pennies with a shot of bold color.

Bold color looks right this fall—not head to toe, but in accessories, accent pieces, even makeup shades that brighten up fall’s darker and more muted hues. Bright blue and purple eye shadows were seen on the fall runways at Christian Dior, Proenza Schouler and Bottega Veneta, among others, but the message seems to be more about fun than fashion. What better way to add energy to your favorite LBD than with a pop of color that can’t be ignored!

The best part of this trend is that you can indulge to your heart’s content and it won’t break the bank! Sally Girl Eye Shadow Connecting Compacts cost less than a dollar and come in 48 shades—from quiet to shout-out. And, they click together, so you can build your own custom shadow duos, trios, quads—the possibilities are up to you! Plus, and this is a BIG PLUS, these are high-performance shadows! They are pigment-rich, so they look true to tone and really last. And, they have a silky texture that blends beautifully. But don’t take our word, read the rave customer reviews!

BOLD BRUSH STROKES

This fall’s color trend is more about art and artifice than it is about getting a natural look, so have fun and experiment. Buy a few shades and start to play. Here are some ideas to get you started:

To create a line of bold color along your lashes, use a wet flat eye shadow brush with the shadow.
To contour eyes, use a mid-tone shade on your lids, a deeper shade of the same color in the crease, and a lighter shade to highlight the brow bone. Use a shadow blender brush for seamless results.
Try using more than one color; experiment with a brighter color on your lids and a deeper or more muted color under your eyes, then switch to see the difference!
To add a little dazzle, highlight the inner corners of your eyes with a light, shimmering shade.
Make your lashes stand out. Use an eyelash curler first, then apply two coats of mascara. To eliminate clumps, use an eyelash comb after each coat.
