Rated 4.8 out of 5 by 85 reviewers.
Rated 5 out of 5 by SAVED MY LIFE I recently had Toxic Shock Syndrome (TSS) and because of my illness, my (already bleached) hair follicles were weakened substantially, so when i went to get my hair redone, my hair could not withstand the color treatments. I've been coloring my hair for 5 years and this is the first time my hair has ever CRACKED OFF. Every time id touch my hair, my fingers would be full of hair. Every time I'd brush my hair, I'd have to rip a huge wad of hair off of my brush, and every time I'd shower MY DRAIN WOULD GET CLOGGED WITH ALL OF THE HAIR I WAS LOSING. I'm 18 years old and thought I had alopecia (sudden hair loss). I even went to a salon and spent 60 dollars on an Olaplex treatment and buying Olaplex No 3. Nothing was working. Until i found this... This treatment (plus an inch trim off of my long, bleach blonde hair) has almost completely stopped the excessive shedding and breaking. I'm still losing more strands than normal, however, I can finally go a day without crying my eyes out. My hair felt stronger and healthier with just one use. I will be trying out the Aphogee Keratin 2 minute repair until my next 2 step protein treatment in hopes that my hair breakage will finally come to an end after a long and miserable month. I 100% STAND BY THIS PRODUCT FOR ANYONE WHO HAS COLORED THEIR HAIR AND IS LOSING IT ALL. disclaimer: I do NOT recommend this product for anyone that regularly gets keratin straightening treatments done at the salon because it could cause a protein overload and cause the hair to break off. Stick to the deep conditioners and moisturizing products instead! April 22, 2016
Rated 4 out of 5 by Finally, a suggestion that works! I started transitioning from relaxed to natural about two years ago. Since then, I have been on the hunt for products that will make my hair thicker, stronger, thus minimizing breakage. Recently, I decided to clip away my damaged ends and apply a protein treatment at home, as I am tired of paying all of the extra fees for my hair stylist. I walked in to Sally Beauty Supply with guarded optimism. When asking the sales associate for a protein treatment recommendation, she directed me towards the Aphogee isle. Buy 2 get 1 free, so, I figured I would load up and invest in me. I purchased the Shampoo for damaged hair, Two-Step Protein Treatment and the Keratin 2 minute Reconstructor. I followed the directions for the shampoo (one wash which was great), sat under the dryer with the Protein treatment until my hair was somewhat dry and crunchy, then followed up with the Keratin Reconstructor under the hooded dryer as well. Not sure if that was the best way to do the final step, but my hair felt instantly better and I had hardly any breakage as I manipulated my hair for my twistout. My color looks more vibrant, hair is softer, and curls are poppin!! A lot of words to say, believe the hype, but make sure that your hair actually needs protein before you use the treatment. Words of advice- Be prepared for a sticky runny mess as others have stated. Allow ample time to complete all of the steps and deep condition afterwards. April 22, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Love it! My hair was so damaged and brittle after too much hair color change plus bleaching. I was looking for something to help my hair as I was trying to grow it. I found this at Sally's and tried it because there's nothing to lose. I got home and used it immediately. It took me around 30 mins from application to blow drying my hair with the product in it. I followed the directions to a T. While I was rinsing my hair, I already notice a difference. I then proceed with the application of the aphogee balance moisturizer, I left it on for 5 minutes, rinsed it out and applied a deep conditioner for 15 minutes. After all that, my hair was noticeably stronger and the ends seemed healthier and some of the split ends were gone (not that i missed them. lol.) I am so delighted that this product actually works. I didn't expect much from the start but I was amazed with the results. I combed my hair and there was no hair breakage. I will use this again in 6 weeks as recommended... Thanks Sally's and Aphogee! Rated 5 out of 5 by It actually works! To be honest I really wasn't expecting much from this product but I was pleasantly surprised. I'm not a hair professional but even I could use it. I followed the instructions to the T and it worked amazingly . A++ April 10, 2015

How many steps?

I purchased after the gal at the store recommend it. But only noticed after I got home that it says 2 steps. This was all I bought - what is the first step and will I damage my hair if I use this by itself?

There are 2 steps to this treatment. The second step is the moisture treatment. This is a follow up after the protein is rinsed from the hair.

Hello, and thank you for your question. According to the product page, you will need to gently cleanse hair with ApHogee Shampoo (670500) before treatment and Aphogee Balancing Moisturizer (670505) after use of the Two-Step Protein Treatment.

A few months ago I tried bleaching my hair and it went really, really wrong. So I went to the salon and got my hair dyed to cover up my bleach mistake & bought some matrix shampoo and conditioner.

My hair is doing a bit better now, I cut it but I'm still losing a lot of hair on one side. I've tried almost everything.

Can you please tell me if this product will save my hair?

Thank you.

A:
YES. By bleaching hair you are basically stripping it of all pigments and with that, a lot of the keratin (protein that hair is made up of). Because our bleached locks have less protein, they are more porous, weak, and prone to breakage. By using this product you are replenishing the keratin that the color, especially if a high volume developer was used, stripped away. The protein will basically harden and fuse with your hair, making it feel fuller and thicker now that it has a protective coat around it. However, too much protein can cause the hair to break even more so use it sparingly! I was losing hair like CRAZY and this helped a ton. Afterwards, follow up with a moisturizing treatment to keep your hair quenched and healthy. Hope this helps!

Hello, and thank you for your question. We can’t guarantee that it will keep it from falling out, but it will improve the health of her hair. We recommend you go get an Olaplex treatment from a professional to help repair the bonds in your hair. At that point, you should discuss further action, including whether or not to use the Aphogee. If you want to skip the Olaplex, Aphogee is better than nothing, but we can’t guarantee your hair is done breaking.

I use it at least a week before so that my hair is strong enough to "take" the relaxer. My stylist commented on how healthy it makes my hair before the relaxer.
