Two Step Protein Treatment is rated 4.7701149425287355 out of 5 by 87.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from It works miracles! Same as many other reviews, I had over processed my hair through bleaching and tons of dye and it was so brittle and crazy damaged. I followed the directions to a T and watched the video to make sure I was doing it right. This brought my hair back to life! I cannot believe how much better my hair feels - it saved me from having to cut off the damage.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from wow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Had this under my sink for years never thought i need it but a few weeks ago i stripped my black hair first i was orange then a sec round of bleach lost 2 inch of hair, was gummy and stringy it was so bad i cried for 3 days Then a week later i did the 2 step treatment followed directions to the T and i cried tears of joy i was so happy and impressed that this actually worked and it saved my shoulder length hair. Ladies stay away from bleach and if you need to fix damaged hair or curly hair get THIS.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from SAVED MY LIFE I recently had Toxic Shock Syndrome (TSS) and because of my illness, my (already bleached) hair follicles were weakened substantially, so when i went to get my hair redone, my hair could not withstand the color treatments. I've been coloring my hair for 5 years and this is the first time my hair has ever CRACKED OFF. Every time id touch my hair, my fingers would be full of hair. Every time I'd brush my hair, I'd have to rip a huge wad of hair off of my brush, and every time I'd shower MY DRAIN WOULD GET CLOGGED WITH ALL OF THE HAIR I WAS LOSING. I'm 18 years old and thought I had alopecia (sudden hair loss). I even went to a salon and spent 60 dollars on an Olaplex treatment and buying Olaplex No 3. Nothing was working. Until i found this... This treatment (plus an inch trim off of my long, bleach blonde hair) has almost completely stopped the excessive shedding and breaking. I'm still losing more strands than normal, however, I can finally go a day without crying my eyes out. My hair felt stronger and healthier with just one use. I will be trying out the Aphogee Keratin 2 minute repair until my next 2 step protein treatment in hopes that my hair breakage will finally come to an end after a long and miserable month. I 100% STAND BY THIS PRODUCT FOR ANYONE WHO HAS COLORED THEIR HAIR AND IS LOSING IT ALL. disclaimer: I do NOT recommend this product for anyone that regularly gets keratin straightening treatments done at the salon because it could cause a protein overload and cause the hair to break off. Stick to the deep conditioners and moisturizing products instead!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Finally, a suggestion that works! I started transitioning from relaxed to natural about two years ago. Since then, I have been on the hunt for products that will make my hair thicker, stronger, thus minimizing breakage. Recently, I decided to clip away my damaged ends and apply a protein treatment at home, as I am tired of paying all of the extra fees for my hair stylist. I walked in to Sally Beauty Supply with guarded optimism. When asking the sales associate for a protein treatment recommendation, she directed me towards the Aphogee isle. Buy 2 get 1 free, so, I figured I would load up and invest in me. I purchased the Shampoo for damaged hair, Two-Step Protein Treatment and the Keratin 2 minute Reconstructor. I followed the directions for the shampoo (one wash which was great), sat under the dryer with the Protein treatment until my hair was somewhat dry and crunchy, then followed up with the Keratin Reconstructor under the hooded dryer as well. Not sure if that was the best way to do the final step, but my hair felt instantly better and I had hardly any breakage as I manipulated my hair for my twistout. My color looks more vibrant, hair is softer, and curls are poppin!! A lot of words to say, believe the hype, but make sure that your hair actually needs protein before you use the treatment. Words of advice- Be prepared for a sticky runny mess as others have stated. Allow ample time to complete all of the steps and deep condition afterwards.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love it! My hair was so damaged and brittle after too much hair color change plus bleaching. I was looking for something to help my hair as I was trying to grow it. I found this at Sally's and tried it because there's nothing to lose. I got home and used it immediately. It took me around 30 mins from application to blow drying my hair with the product in it. I followed the directions to a T. While I was rinsing my hair, I already notice a difference. I then proceed with the application of the aphogee balance moisturizer, I left it on for 5 minutes, rinsed it out and applied a deep conditioner for 15 minutes. After all that, my hair was noticeably stronger and the ends seemed healthier and some of the split ends were gone (not that i missed them. lol.) I am so delighted that this product actually works. I didn't expect much from the start but I was amazed with the results. I combed my hair and there was no hair breakage. I will use this again in 6 weeks as recommended... Thanks Sally's and Aphogee!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It actually works! To be honest I really wasn't expecting much from this product but I was pleasantly surprised. I'm not a hair professional but even I could use it. I followed the instructions to the T and it worked amazingly . A++

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great stuff!! So I recently went to the salon about two weeks ago and the lady left the bleach on my hair for WAY to long my hair is now badly damaged. After the incident I googled what to do my hair felt gummy and mushy and was falling out badly when it was wet and I was this close to just getting a bob cut my hair is long but I was devastated my hair is my life and I truly regret going to that salon to dye my hair. Well I bought this product since I read all the great reviews I must admit the product smells HORRIBLE but its a small price to pay..I shampooed my hair then applied the two step protein and blow dryed it for about an hour my hair got really hard and then I washed it out and used the moisturizer after. My hair feels much better now it's still breaking a bit but I wasnt expecting my hair to be perfect but it has helped my hair so much I feel so much better now! I will deffinetly be using it again in six weeks hopefully my hair will be healthy in no time!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Maybe I didn't do it right, but no results. I have very long, thin hair. My hair has recently been bleached, and ever since..I've been trying everything to restore it. I have a lot of breakage, and my hair is gummy and mushy when wet. I've read, and heard multiple things about how well this product works..and how well it takes away that gummy, stringy feeling. Which, is what I battle with the most! I purchased the small packets from my local Sally's. My hair is well past my chest, so needless to say, one packet wasn't nearly enough. I saturated the bottom, and worked my way up to the top the best I could. This product is very runny, and sticky! Afterwards, I dried it with a normal hand blow dryer for about 25/30 minutes - until it was rock hard, and making a crunchy noise. I then rinsed as it said. My hair was still extremely mushy/gummy, and breaking off as I was rinsing it in the sink. I used my heat-resistant spray, and then dried/styled like I normally do. It made my hair very rough, poofy, and thick-feeling. I had to deep condition twice. I said I would recommend this to a friend, only because I did notice less shedding for about a week, but sadly enough - it came back. I still have the gummy/mushy feeling. I am going to purchase this product again (the bigger bottle this time) so I can give it another go. I've read things from other customers, and some say you have to leave it on the head for an hour, or more. I'm thinking maybe I just didn't leave it on long enough, or have enough of the product saturated in my hair. I am really crossing my fingers that this time works! Also, if you have a weak stomach, brace yourself - this stuff smells like vomit!

Do you have to use with the ApHogee conditioner?

Is there something special about the ApHogee Balancing Moisturizer, or can I use any deep conditioner after rinsing out the two-step treatment?
Asked by: Stormie
Hello, and thank you for your question. Yes, the Two Step Protein Treatment requires that you use the Balancing Moisturizer as this is part of the two steps. This treatment is a system.

How many steps?

I purchased after the gal at the store recommend it. But only noticed after I got home that it says 2 steps. This was all I bought - what is the first step and will I damage my hair if I use this by itself?
Asked by: Babymaker28
There are 2 steps to this treatment. The second step is the moisture treatment. This is a follow up after the protein is rinsed from the hair.

Will this stop my hair from falling out?

A few months ago I tried bleaching my hair and it went really, really wrong. So I went to the salon and got my hair dyed to cover up my bleach mistake & bought some matrix shampoo and conditioner. My hair is doing a bit better now, I cut it but I'm still losing a lot of hair on one side. I've tried almost everything. Can you please tell me if this product will save my hair? Thank you.
Asked by: angzombie
YES. By bleaching hair you are basically stripping it of all pigments and with that, a lot of the keratin (protein that hair is made up of). Because our bleached locks have less protein, they are more porous, weak, and prone to breakage. By using this product you are replenishing the keratin that the color, especially if a high volume developer was used, stripped away. The protein will basically harden and fuse with your hair, making it feel fuller and thicker now that it has a protective coat around it. However, too much protein can cause the hair to break even more so use it sparingly! I was losing hair like CRAZY and this helped a ton. Afterwards, follow up with a moisturizing treatment to keep your hair quenched and healthy. Hope this helps!

Do I use this before I relax my hair or after?

Asked by: flygirl
I use it at least a week before so that my hair is strong enough to "take" the relaxer. My stylist commented on how healthy it makes my hair before the relaxer.
