Start-up

• Plug the Pressing Comb into an electrical outlet and slide the On / Off switch to the “On” position. Turn the Rheostat Control Dial to the desired heat level.
• Wait for Pressing Comb to heat up, which takes approximately 60 seconds. For optimum styling temperature, allow iron to heat for 2-3 minutes before using.

Caution: Pressing Combs with a Rheostat Control Dial operate at high temperatures when used on high settings. When using for the first time, begin with the LOWEST setting. Please read all instructions carefully before using. For best results, follow these guidelines:

Heat Selection:

• 200°F - 250°F    For fine, thin, fragile hair
• 300°F - 350°F    For normal, wavy, medium-textured hair 
• 400°F - 430°F    For thick, coarse hair

Operating Instructions:

• This appliance has a polarized plug (one blade is wider than the other). As a safety feature, this plug will fit in a polarized outlet only one way.
• If the plug does not fit fully in the outlet, reverse the plug. If it still does not fit, contact a qualified electrician.
• Do not attempt to defeat this safety feature.

IMPORTANT: During the first few minutes of initial use, you may notice smoke and a slight odor. This is normal and is not a cause for concern

Helpful Styling Hints

• Hair should be clean and dried completely before using any styling tool.
• To determine proper operating temperature, allow the Pressing Comb to heat up in the “200°F” position. Once the Pressing Comb is hot, test the comb heat on a section of hair, if too low, move the switch up one number. Test it again. Continue to adjust the heat level until the best operating temperature for your hair is found.
• Straightening natural (unrelaxed) hair:
  • Start by sectioning hair into strands of not more than 1-inch deep and 2 inches wide. Smooth out the hair strand by combing through the section while holding the ends with the other hand.
• Straightening relaxed hair:
  • The Pressing Comb is an ideal tool for keeping the salon look between visits. When new hair growth appears, comb out the hair (be careful not to touch the scalp with the hot metal). Also, since relaxed hair is often more sensitive to heat than unrelaxed new hair growth, be sure to test a small relaxed section of your hair to properly adjust the heat setting and avoid damage to your relaxed hair.
• When styling is complete, slide the On / Off switch to the “Off” position to turn off. Unplug the appliance and allow it to cool before storing.
