Long lasting
I did an at-home perm with no help about three months ago, and my curls still look beautiful. I have just above the shoulder length hair, so my very bottom layer has mostly grown out to straight already and will need to be redone for that reason alone. But I did a perm on my long hair, and it was about 8 months before I had to do it again. The curls on the top layer are still very defined and healthy looking and feeling.
For reference, I have dense hair with fine strands that are stubborn and do not hold curls with heat tools.

Don't do it!!!
I bought this and used it 3 days ago...I've had several perms in my life, but this is HORRIBLE. I just cut my hair, and it was HEALTHY...now it's fried. It burnt my scalp and is ABSOLUTELY NOT MOISTURIZING. DON'T DO IT. I didn't even process the full 20 minutes, but followed the directions...YIKES. I look like I got a bad 80s perm, damage and all... definitely NOT what I was going for.

rollers needed for body perm..best perm to use
I used 1 inch rollers mostly for body but got nice waves. I've used the alkaline perm 3 times with good results. P

This is a great product. I gave my mother a perm for my niece's wedding and it turned out great. I would call the store to ask them if you can pick it up from them if you order it online and have it sent to them.

how long is the freshness shelf life for home permanents?
I tend to buy a few at a time and have had them last a couple of years and still do the job.

How do you use the porduct to straighten hair?
I never have. If you really NEED to use a perm to try and straighten, I would apply the lotion to the slightly curly hair and comb it smooth for the 10 minutes. I think with all the straighteners out there, you are better to use one of those.

How long do you have to leave it in your hair? Will it be damaging to leave it on longer than instructed?
After the normal 20 minutes the perms "shut off" If you leave it on longer you will just dry out the hair.

Does this product require pre perm conditioner
I cannot remember what is required on the box but I ALWAYS use Pre Perm Conditioner at the beauty shop and home perms....hope this helps
