Rated 4 out of 5 by from Less damage than Ion lightening powder I liked this better than the powder lightener, but it didn't seem as effective. I have dark, ash-brown thin hair (on the roots) and needed two applications (one full box) to get to a dark straw-yellow. The hair that had previously been dyed with Ion Sky Blue lightened to a seafoam green after the two applications. Still, after two lightenings and two dyes, my hair isn't wrecked and I can still run my fingers through it so I give it 4 stars.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from HATED THIS Was WAYYY too strong, my first time bleaching my hair and it was a terrible experience. The odor was so strong I couldn't open my eyes and properly apply it. Neveragain.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Santa approved! Wouldn't use anything else. I've been using this kit once every 7-10 days for 10 years to keep my Santa beard (and head hair) as near to white as is possible. I use 2 packets or half of a box on every application. The oil really helps to reduce irritation and itching substantially when used with an enzyme-based developer such as Trionics Lift Thru (50 volume).

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works well for me! I'm a moderately dark brown normally and use this to lighten my hair before going pink and it has worked wonderfully for me. It requires some developer that is not included. I only leave it in for about thirty minutes and get the lightness I want.

my hair is a dark red brown color (dyed it) and i’m trying to dye it blue. when i bleach will my hair turn up ending orange and turning the blue dye green ?

Asked by: hayden796
If the colour you have now was a permanent color, it probably won't take it all out in one process (semi/demi colors remove easier), so it would affect the new colour (better luck if the new blue is dark). A regular (hair) bleach may be more effective (even if a bit more harsh). Perhaps using Red Out or Red Gold Corrector would help some (added to the bleach process).

I have previously lightened hair.. It's now a golden color and my roots (a dark dirty blonde) are grown out. I want to achieve an even bright white blonde. Can I apply this to all of my hair and then use a toner?

Asked by: kylie6250
I would do it to your darker roots first. Do a “root touchup” so that it becomes very close to the color of the rest.  Then when that is done (preferably wait a few days and deep conditioning in between - do the whole head roots to ends. You may even have to do a thrird time to achieve the white you want- and the last thing you do is put a color toner back into it to color it the white and replace the color you took out- this will tale away the yellow or brassy look. i did Khaleesi hair this way.

I normally dye my hair runway red and have brown hair. Would this work to lighten before dying it red again?

Asked by: Lupiitaa
Ive ised this to lighten and then dye purple and fuchsia - it was fine. This product is like powder bleach and developer except way more conditioning! My hair was way better using this lightener than other bleaches

I will be lightening my hair with this for the first time. The instructions say to add contents of two activators but I couldn't really figure out which one I was supposed to choose. Also, I know I need to use a toner but is there a certain one?

Asked by: Barb1965
The activators come in the box and they are all the same. Toning comes after the lightening and which one you’ll need depends on your desired result.

Yes with 20 volume peroxide . I personally use 40. Depending on how light you want to go. Just follow directions.

I have medium dark brown hair and want to lighten it I’m using this box of lightener what developer should I use?

Asked by: Sammie1267
I wouldn't recommend a 40! Stylists rarely, if ever, use a 40 - you're just asking for trouble esp if you're new to at home lightening/DIY bleaching I've always used a 20 vol with AMAZING results, followed by a toner mixed with 10 vol developer Best of luck
